Watched the movie "Oldboy" with Josh Brolin and Sharlto Copley, not the original Korean movie, but the one by Spike Jones and although some reports favour the Korean original, I wasn't prepared to put up with subtitles, so settled for this one and enjoyed it. It eventually revealed a completely unexpected reason for what happened to the Oldboy (no spoilers here) and completely unexpected finale. If you haven't seen it, then it's worth a look IMO.

I managed to find a good version of "Easy Rider" last night, and as it was from somewhere in my distant past, I decided to watch it, and I enjoyed it. One thing that did stand out for me was the language of Dennis Hopper, because it was exactly the same vernacular/structure as he used later on in the film "Apocalypse Now" and I wondered if he spoke like that "offscreen"? Anyway it was enjoyable and the ending actually got me thinking about what is happening in the US today, whereby two guys who were free and easy and "hippie like" were seen as unlikable/unwelcome which is why they met the end that they met in the movie. The rednecks and others of similar ilk were very anti-and I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this, so I won't go any further. Up to you to see it again and see if you can spot the similarity with what's happening today, that I saw.

In my opinion, the "bunker buster bombs" should be used to wipe out Iran's enrichment facilities and all that goes with it, simply because they cannot be trusted to adhere to any sort of "agreement" on their nuclear program – – in fact they shouldn't have one because they are totally unstable and support terrorist groups and the sooner that regime is replaced/wiped out, the better.

In light of this thread I decided to count the number of vaccinations I've had in my lifetime and I was surprised at the number, and here they are: – – Smallpox – Tuberculosis – Hepatitis A – Hepatitis B – Diphtheria – Whooping cough – Polio (vaccination before the oral version became available) – Measles/mumps/rubella (three vaccinations given as one) – Yellow fever – Immuno globulin (a requirement before being able to work in Nigeria) – Tetanus (about four injections over the years) – Covid 19 (three whilst here in Thailand) So, around 19 vaccinations/injections in my lifetime and I'm still here and vehemently believe in them, especially after my experiences with a couple of friends who contracted polio before the vaccinations became available. Luckily I've got the majority of the anti-VAX brigade on "ignore" but there are probably a couple more to go and my post will most likely bring them out! I have those two you have mentioned on "ignore" along with a few others who like to post conspiracy theory/anti-VAX theory nonsense, because it's not worth spending a moment trying to read their gibberish. And the one which really stands out is the plonker who keeps posting that there is no such thing as a virus or a bacteria, and even if there were, none of them can be passed on from one human to another, going against everything that science and medicine has proven over the decades. Unbelievable. There are some good posters on AN and a few other nutters apart from those in the categories mentioned above, and IMO the website has certainly gone downhill since the early days of ThaiVisa some 20 years ago.

I thought I'd take a look at a movie I hadn't seen for years, namely David Cronenberg's "Dead Ringers" especially as I couldn't remember anything about it! It starred Jeremy Irons in the role of the twins (an excellent performance by him) and also Genevieve Bujold as the main female in the strange/weird/disconcerting movie, as is generally the norm with anything by David Cronenberg!

I eventually managed to find a very good three-part series called, "A Very English Scandal" (not to be confused with a similar one entitled, "A Very British Scandal") and it starred Hugh Grant as Jeremy Thorpe and Ben Wishaw as Norman Scott and was about the Jeremy Thorpe homosexual scandal and the lies that went with it. I enjoyed watching it again and picked up a few things I'd missed the first time round, but what I couldn't get past was the superb acting of Hugh Grant and Ben Wishaw, in fact it was well acted throughout. It would appear that there were quite a few "shirt lifters" throughout the governing parties, not to mention the judiciary!
