  1. Hi all! :o !

This is the first time I am writing on this forum as obvious I am a new member. I read some of the discussions on this forum and I was quite impressed. So I thought this forum might have the solution to my query.

Thw situation is that I am living in the United Kingdom for some years now. Very recently I married to my girlfriend who is a British citizen. I have now got a 2 years Marriage Visa issued by the Home Office. In the letter, the Home Office guided that if 'any public funds are claimed on my behalf by my sponsor, this will affect my indefinite leave to remain'. I assume what the Home Office is saying that if my wife claims any public funds during this two-year period, then my indefinite leave to remain will be affected.

Now the situation is, because my wife wife has a daughter from her previous marriage and the fact that both us do not have a stable job, she has started to claim the public funds.

My question is, because of the above situation, will the HomeOffice be able to practically refuse my indefinite leave to remain application after two years?

Can someone kindly reply to my query.that will be a great help and will be much appreciated.

And probably a solution, if any.

    Thanks a many

    Ziaka

Ziaka: Make an appointment with your local "Citizens Advice Bureau" (phone number in "yellow pages") take your wife and explain the situation, they should be able to advise you. Take your wife along and talk things over with them, they are very helpfull people.

They are Ideal as "Starter Packs" for children.

  3. Just a question about Grundfos vs Mitsu or Hitachi?>

Maybe the Grundfos is the better unit---------don't know about this-----------but if/when the pump fails and at some point it will.

Which of the 3 brands can be serviced and repaired and returned to operation the easiest here in LOS.

Can a "local" repair guy get the parts and fix any of the 3? Or is the higher priced and less common brand more difficult to fix?

I'm going to follow up on the service/repair issue next day or so as am buying a unit very shortly.

  4. From my first visits to Thailand untill now (I am married to a Thai woman), nothing but bad experiences with Thai monks.

    Experiences:

    1) One of my first visits to Thailand my (farang) girlfriend and I took the river boat up to the main temple. There a monk asked us if we would like him too read our future. He asked 2,000 bht!! I said noway but my g/f insisted.

He read her palm and went on about how we were in love, how many children we were going to have...etc etc. Complete charletan...I was planing to dump her as soon as we got home.

    2) Second encounter was when I was with my thai g/f (now my wife) we went to another temple on the river and on entering was greeted by a monk who offered to give us a guided tour. He showed us some relics then sat us down and tryed to sell us an amulet. 2000 bht again!! he was talking to my g/f in Thai and i could see her going red in the face and looking mighty uncomfortable. I resisted and paid. I asked her later what he was talking about, she told me he was saying stuff like..." come on, tell the farang to buy it"..."we need the money, he is farang he can aford it"..."you are Thai, come on get him to buy it" She was deeply embarased by the whole episode.

    3) I came to Thailand one time and went up north to meet her parents. before i left home I told my g/f that i had been very sick and was in bed for 3 days and had my phone off. (really i was away on a dirty weekend). In her town she took me to her local monk...her mother went to him about 15 mins before i did. During the meeting he proceded to do the futre think and told me in detail about my recent illness. Even to the point of telling me the date, where i was and what happened. Now this would have been amazing except for the fact it was all bulldust. Obviously the mother had filled him in with all the details before we got there.

No I certainly do not. Why do you keep going back for more BS?

    4) Second visit to the same temple 6 months later when we decided to get mrried. We saw a different monk...this time it was all legit and nice untill right at the end he told me (through my partner) that i had to pay him 50,000bht when we got married cos' he had been her monk since childhood. Again she was deeply embarased.

My wife is deeply religious but I myself will never go back to another temple. Enough is enough.

Anyone else good sorry tales about Thai monks?

  5. A customer stated his TGF was arrested last week, first time, dirty urine and still in jail. What is normal jail time for first time offense?

Suppose that would depend on her "confession" and the number of dealers she ratted on.

  6. A friend says he wakes up every morning with a heart rate of between 100-130.

Should he be concerned. He also tells me after a couple of hours usually but not always his heart rate goes back to normal which is between 60-80.

I am a bit worried about him. Should he see a cardiologist???

Definitely without a doubt, but it could be a relatively easy diagnosis such as sleep apnea.

  7. All the advice on doing business in Thailand from books and advisors says that you must remain calm to avoid losing face and respect.

In your experience is this really true?

I've just moved from India, and working with a brilliant team of local managers we managed to open over 600 supermarkets in under 2 years ... but it was not done without some major shouting and arm waving. We were never really angry - but sometimes an Oscar-winning performance of red-faced explosive rage was needed to get things done.

In my past experience of business in Thailand I've always remained calm and composed, but I've seen some of the 'Big Men' explode in a way that would make a battle-hardened Indian businessman blush. So are there occasions when a good old fashioned erruption gets results?

Do Not Do That, you lose face, respect and employees.

  8. Patong beach 1980, pristine, a few bamboo bungalows, couple of bars, Fantasea divers just opened. Seafood so fresh at beach barbecue joints, sea gypsies raising their kids, trail bikes for rent to madly explore. Fantastic place and never to be again.

  9. There is something called a 'flash' message which can be sent via sms which appears directly on the screen without needing to read it first.

Also as it occours in the same area it could be a bluetooth (obex) style message - do you have bluetooth turned on ?

Thanks ..... must be flash messages as I don't have Bluetooth switched on.

I have a dual SIM phone, so with the Indian spam SMS's, the Thai spam SMS's and now the flash messages, the poor phone is kept busy!

Call your Thai mobile service provider and request that they shut off all Thai language SMS messages, worked for me.

  10. First of all a bit of backgroud; my wife has been in england for 5 years, we married here and have one child born here, and she has an indefinate stay visa.

We are currently going through a rocky period, since we had the baby she has struggled to take care of him and always states how difficult it is. She has a daughter in thailand who is 12 years old, but stays with her ex. She says she is bored and would like to go back to thailand, so basically she can give the child to her parents to take care of and have an easy life with no responsibilities.

I have heard her mutter the word divorce when talking with her friends, if it came to a divorce would she be entitled to my estate, even though I have sponsored/supported her for the last 5 years? If she went home without a divorce could i cancel her visa?

    Thanks in advance

She can give your son away and you are just concerned about your "estate" sorry for you.
