Congratulations you found your new holiday home base. BTW don't worry to much 4 month are quickly over!

it is a great spot and close to the airport. great advice.

  2. champ, take a red pill and go MGTOW. she is your ex for a reason. hope you can afford to write off what ever money you put into the businesses.  dogs on the other hand are loyal but there are many more of them out there. adopt a street dog when you move back. yours is being looked after already.

I have a 225 SQ met home in a nice housing development. I rent for 8000 THB P/m for 14 years. When I moved in my rent was 7000 THB p/m. My home was 1 year old and new when I decided on this house. I have been very happy and I will continue renting this house for the foreseeable future. I am very happy!

smart. wish someone told me to just rent when i first moved to thailand. seems renting in pattay is getting better and better value all the time.

What happened to the days of a disagreement, punch up and then both shaking hands and having a beer together?  Now everyone needs to use weapons, in this case a bottle and fight in groups like the Thai's etc.  Society gone mad.

would be better if we were moving away from fighting all together. childish behavior and does not solve anything.

I think the Chinese visiting en mass probably think Pattaya is better than whatever s***h*** they come from. I certainly don't think they will be deterred.

they seemed to be deterred by the govt last year when they cracked down on zero dollar tourists. the number of buses on the roads seemed to drop off a lot. i have been out of pattaya 6 months now, not sure if they came back.

you haven't checked the NZ/Baht exchange rate lately have you?

i have a business in pattaya and have not had to take any money over to thailand. looks like this year was a bit slower and i might have to take a bit when i go over in sept. it is so cheap it does not make a lot of difference if it is 25 or 28thb to the nz$.

Seajae your pictures seem to show one half of the road in concrete with rebar. You say it has been drilled in but are you sure it does not run all the way across as that is how they normally lay it, all be it still laid on the red clay base? Not much point in drilling in rebar if joined to tarmac?

The bit worked on looks just like tarmac on top of the earth. This looks level with the concrete from your pics so presumably that's it. If I am seeing it correctly do you know why the 2 different construction types for the same bit of road?

the rebar is just pins between the 2 sections of road. the forming used has holes and they go along and poke short bits of rebar into them to stop the concrete leaking through.  hard to believe they are not putting some mesh rebar under this road.

It's fun because everybody is complaining about its a lie, every time the numbers get out. Who to believe you or TAT ?

some say 50000 a head used in the economy on there vacation. Do we now if they stay 1 day or 3 weeks. We don't know right

we can all say it's a lie, but do we have figures to back the statement up?

on the other hand, who cares, if they lie or telling the trues

I don't, properly because I have living here  for 6 years now

of course it is impossible to get actual stats which is why they can lie all they want. i have been following tourist numbers for 10 years as i have a vested interest in it. the numbers continued to go up 1 million per yer regardless of floods, military coups etc.  there is just no way it can be true.

Short life expectancy in that job.

dont worry there is a line of guys waiting for their turn as the boss. this war on terror is perpetual. doubt the yanks will ever try another tactic, not as long as the weapons factories are doing good business.

I didn't want to start down this path, but I can't imagine anyone making a career of teaching at 1/8-1/4 the salary they can make back home doing the same.  A few years as an adventure?  Sure.  But the power of the poon seems so often to change that year or two adventure to a career.

Gotta admit, my life would have looked a lot different had I tasted it 30 years earlier.  Maybe a good thing I didn't, maybe I missed out.

i didnt discover thailand till my early thirties and it was shortly after a job came up on samui. if i discovered thailand in my early twenties i probably would have misspent that decade visiting thailand. dont know if i would have been desperate enough to teach english however.
