  1. I've have never understood why, in the UK, where we have the largest proliferation of CCTV cameras in the world per capita, why many of these cameras cannot be connected to the ANPR system in order to get rid of every single untaxed, untested and uninsured vehicle without the need for a hands on police presence.

In some cities they do, but they still need actual plod to stop arrest and impound the vehicle.

Just wait till they have remote deactivation devices! First in the car then your wallet then your body.

  2. Can someone please tell me which country does NOT require vehicle registration to be carried when the vehicle is in use?

UK. But they issue a produce ticket giving you X amount of days to produce all documents at a police station. That was before it was all computerised so there chips just two in and check it all on a big database

  3. Mentioned before but the actual physical  time to produce a certificate of residence is about 3 minutes, insert date,  name ,address, on template on computer press print,    mission accomplished . Watched the young guy who now works at GT4 do it.About the same time it takes a bank teller, over the counter, to put some cash in your account.

Talk about turning mole hills into mountains. Too many people applying for residence certificates ,its all our fault,oh dear.

    Thank you Greenside

So why is there a 2 week wait to get one via official only channels? And factor in the waiting time for the individual applying.

Things like this could with the right technology be done entirely online.

  4. Good news or bad news : depending on your point of view...

G4T visa agents are now providing a fast track service for certificate of residence.

I went to Promenada with the intention of doing it all myself.

I had the tm30 evidence and a filled in application form on my USB stick, I usually get the print outs at my local copy shop but couldn't yesterday and I presumed the copy shop downstairs could do print outs. Well they can't, this led me to into G4T to ask if they could print out, they said they could process the application for the old 500b fee and be ready for pick-up on Friday.

The quicker I get a motorcycle licence the better so it was fine.

A point to note was they had run out of receipt paper. I'm sure this was merely a coincidence (if you believe in that sort of thing) & I'm to show my passport on pickup.

As of today, the C of R is free for everyone.

The bad news, if you are in a hurry, is there is no longer an option to pay for an "express" service and issuing one takes two weeks plus what seemed to be an astoundingly long in-depth interview with an immigration officer on the 2nd floor of Promenada.  They'll want to see your TM30 and all the usual stuff plus two passport size pictures which I think is a new requirement.

    Thanks for the update.

Could you give us a few more details?

Do we go to the usual downstairs bit in promenade and they will book us in for the extended interview?

What sort of in-depth questions can we expect?

Can we get 2 originals at the same time?

I've rented a condo via an agent I will be chasing them for the TM30 which I presume they will have a copy of. is it a matter of taking in a copy or a print out of the online form?

    Thanks again

  6. She has very detailed plans and policies.

Much more so than dangerous donald trump.:bah:

I will agree she is a flawed candidate that in a NORMAL election would have little chance.

But this election is the opposite of normal.

She's running against dangerous donald trump. Which means she remains a strong favorite to win.

    Here are her policy positions:[emoji106]

It appears her main policy is to start WW3.
She is a danger to all humanity.

  7. Yes I got one no problem in July. Just need to fill out the application, have flight ticket confirmations into and out of Thailand, and 2 brand new US $20 bills.

Turnaround next afternoon. Much less crowded than Vientiane. I like this embassy and Myanmar so much I am going back in January to get another. Nok Air and Air Asia have great deals to Yangon often.

I'd like to try this for a visa as well.
I'll have the flight back into Thailand booked no problem, but as with many I won't have a flight back out as i might take a bus.
I read the embassy site which said.

    5. confirmed round trip air ticket or hotel reservation/accommodation reference (for travelling through border)

Is this a over night booking in, let's say, Phnom Penh at the exit date?
Easier than a airline ticket refund.

    Are there agents there?

    Cheers

  8. That's a big cop out.
I'm sure you've read that the local immigration at Chiang Mai have stopped doing them. They are the local amphoe. `@
Yellow books are not issued to people on tourist visas.

    Thanks for your valuable input

No, it is not required and I know that from myself and a number of counterparts. I do agree it may be handled differently in different locations.

Point is, go there and ask, instead of complaining that you can't feed corrupt agents anymore. May be easier than you thought and saves you a lot of headaches and money in the future. But as they say her, entirely up to you [emoji4]

  9. Go to your local amphoe, they will tell you what is required. You don't need to own the place to get a yellow book.
