Russia Rejects Trump's Temporary Ukraine Ceasefire Offer
Presnock replied to Social Media's topic in World News
well since the beginning, sanctions on just about everything that could be sanctioned except we all know that China, India, N. Korea, Iran etc ignore US sanctions - thosde only wokr with poor western countries and usually not very will with them either. -
I am an American so due to FACTA had to fill out the bank form plus as US had to also do the W7 form from the US revenue bit - it always wants a Thai tax number but if one doesn't have on it has a space for reason. If like me, one has no ASSESSABLE income here then one supposedly isn't eligible for a Tax ID number. That is what I put on that form for me. Usually some expats can convince their local RD office to issue a tax ID number. If not contact the main BKK Revenue Dept and query what they suggest you do to get that number if you really need it.

Police Raid Soi Nana, Arrest Foreign Women for Suspected Prostitution
Presnock replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
must fall under the Thai law about protecting the jobs of locals except the Thai ladies are not prostitutes I guess they are just hostesses in the bars and on the streets you know like the greeters at US walmart stores, welcoming all the customers. -
Do you consider yourself smarter than the average Thai?
Presnock replied to Robert_Smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
absolutely, schooling, paper degrees etc really do not tell how smart one may be. Compare their survival skills in relation to a non-schooled local in some jungle area. Having gone through survival training by non-book schooled instructors I quickly learned how DUMB I really compared to them if I needed to survive in many areas of the world. Even by western standards, survival in many cities is specific too. Depening on how smart one may be determines how rapid he can recognized whatever skills are needed to survive in any particular area and if lacking find some other place to be. I have lived and worked in many rather dangerous areas and managed to survive as I learned early on to recognize the possible dangers and what was necessary to avoid that danger. Just like here in Thailand, reading the news daily lets me know that there are some real dangers here too so there are certain areas I avoid and precautions that i need to take in many other places here. -
Thanks for that info, I have thought about a visit soon and nice to know it has changed a tad. Always like just going there and walking around without thinking of buying anything.

yeah I think they have 4 floors of golf items of every type and price!

You might as well play golf at some of the courses that are fairly close to train stops with a short grab ride.

Visa run Poi Pet Cambodia
Presnock replied to goldenbrwn1's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Guess things really changed there - when I originally got my retirement O, I used the Poipet crossing going by bus from BKK. They would stop at the Cambodian side, stamp our PP and then take us to a casino where we had a FREE lunch and if desired, 2 hours of gambling or whatever before bringing us back across the border and back to BKK. Then with embassy letter, didn't need to exit the country, just do the one-year long stay extension. along the way other immigration changes too but most I found made the extension process easier until I got the LTR and that to me has been the best for my situation for the next 9 years if they don't alter any of the benefits. -
well, if note what I write about them, it is the "freebies" that I emphasize, I have asked some info from them which I received free, but basically they just send me emails whenever th RD or finance ministry put out anything on the taxes. I realize that there are and are probably going to be even more as further taxation schemes to attack expats surface. Unless some major change to benefits of the LTR, I am not concerned with taxes for the next 9 years. In any case, just hope all the expats come out of these schemes without having to shell out any funds.

just about any food if you eat too much of it can cause fat body. for dark chocolate recommended 1 square inch per day no more of the chocolate bar.
-
recommended per day, one of the small squares of the dark chocolate bar so forget number of squares 8 or 10 about 1 square inch only per day.

Is the letter from embassy required?
Presnock replied to Plissken's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I am US, and didnt not need a lettet from the embassy, only downloaded the immigration form for transerring of visa information from old to new passport. -
Research by Dr. William Li, Harvard heart specialist, food researcher writer of two books on diet to heal one's health - says that at least 70%+ dark chocolate helps he human body to produce more stem cells which are needed to heal any cell problems.
-
researchers recommend at least 70%dark chocolate for the health benefit (growing stem cells. But, other reseach indicates high levels of heavy metals, the more dark chocolate the more heavy metals. //https://www.forbes.com/sites/brucelee/2022/12/16/23-of-28-dark-chocolate-bars-tested-have-high-lead-cadium-levels/ Article mentions some brand names bette with less metals and if one googles "dark chocolate and heavy metals" then one can see other websites doing the testing and their results and other brands of dark chocolate. I usuall just get whatever brand is available at Tops or Villamart. Goes along with the plastic we are ingesting with bottled water. Sorta like finding out all the poisonous and dangerous foods our food industry has made for us. Best of health and enjoy!

if you have o run to the lo every night, recommend a dr check - eat a diet rich in "red" fruits and tomatoes (cooked/paste) for Lycopene which is reportedly healthy for the prostate - research from Dr.William Li in two books about diet to beat disease and heal your body.

In HS I played American football - had played sandlot sports my entire life but this change required daily exercise including many long runs. I found the runner's high and loved it! Spent 4 year in the military and was required to pass a physical training exercise every year which enabled me to continue running! I continued that running, even running in Madrid's very first marathon - finished it but body advised me that 40+ kilometers is not worth it for me. Therefore I continued running a lot of half marathons and shorter races in many different countries. I never was even close to world running stats but still able to enjoy the runners' high. I continued until age 65, realized that since I don't like running inside on a treadmill, that with roads and sidewalks only available, that my knees might give out at some point so switched to walking daily. At first I did 15-20kilometers a day, at first even lost some weight and eventually dropped down to 6 kilometers a day which I continue daily now - but do it inside due to pollution and thunderstorms so do 1 hour+ of aerobic walking exercises with distance equal to 6+ kilos and 7-7500 steps depending on the various exercises. In addition, for 40+ years I have lifted weights - but in my latter years I changed from heavy weights to light weight with more repititions after seeing the British TV show "trust me, I'm a doctor" in which they did a study showing equal strength and muscle growth with both heavy and light weights with more repititions. It works for me and I still do this several times weekly at my house. In addition, on the days that I do not lift weights, I do core exercises which I have changed many times over the years spending between 50-60 minutes each day that I do these exercises. My weight has only changed about a year ago after reading the two books by Dr. Li about healthy and beneficial eating to beat diseases. I lost a total of 8 kilos, and all the excess fat that I had especially around my waist, I also altered my eating habit to eat 6 AM to 11 AM and then fast until the next day. Luckily, in Thailand there are almost too many choices of fruits, nuts, seeds, as well as healthy vegtables available yearround! I gave up my favorite chocolate icecream even. I never feel hungry, always ready for exercise and never snack. I drink green tea, coffee and water only. At 78, I feel great, have no health problems yet of any nature other than a tad arthritis in my hands but which the diet cuts most inflamation so very little pain if any, Life looks great att and plan for a longer life here in Paradise still! Best of health to all the readers whether one takes care of themselves or not - definitely a personal choice.

1-year LTR immigration visit
Presnock replied to Presnock's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
yeah you could see from my note earlier, I went to the BOI and immigration there and yessir used the 90-day receipt with 90 cross out and 1 year writtem in above that. Thanks for CM, I was wondering if we could use the 90-day window there - I return to CM in a couple of months as daughter selected by Chula for junior year at a top Korean University. This 1-yr report is just too easy after all the 20 years of various 1-year long stay extensions. BTW, is the immigration office at Central Festival still open as they did 90-day reports there too previously? -
Could Trump's plan fail in a spectacular fashion?
Presnock replied to spidermike007's topic in Political Soapbox
Well, a recission in the making. ALl the people suffering already due to inflated prices that never came down after the pandemic. But Trump and his cronies, if you are rich, who cares of there is a recession it doesn't really affect them IMHO. They are all leeches living off the working public. -

Could Trump's plan fail in a spectacular fashion?
Presnock replied to spidermike007's topic in Political Soapbox
well, hard to agree with any of your comments. I communicate daily with relatives and friends in various areas of the US - NOT one, and many of those did vote for the idiot, agree with anythhing he is doing right now except for two genders and illegals shutdown/border controls. Other than that, they are all very worried what the idiot will come up in his next dream world. First of all, since he was convicted on 34 different counts, one would think he would understand the word ILLEGAL. Time for Congress to grow some balls too and help wake him up unless his brain is too fried att. IMHO anyway - I am a DEM policy lifer hater, but now am ashamed to be a Republican fan... -

Yeahhe already claims to have found several hundred millions to kids 6-9 years of age and says they should be able save there - not knowons SS, those kids loss a bread winner through death who had paid his ss so his kids now collect. How about the education department - the govt talked of closing it entirely so now the head of that department says they are willing to cut employees by 50% - does that mean the other 50% weren't actually earning their pay? who has any idea what the ELON team really consists of and how far Trump is will to let them go,. -
Please help settle an argument
Presnock replied to Delight's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
There are specifics laws on that kind of case. Instead of possibly making an error judgement here I suggestg you wait for someone totally aware but unless you are married at least, I don't think you have much standing as her family members if living (children, parents siblings) would probably have some say in the future ownership. Like me, I am married to a Thai, If she were to die, fortunately our daughter will inherit, if not then I would probably have about a year to sell the house and share with her parents - if she has a will and it goes to our daughter or to me then something else may occur. Right now unless you are legally attached to her, I recommend you fully research where you stand if she were to die or disappear,. -
Selling my Permanent Visa from EliteCard
Presnock replied to RedJam's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
well if one is counting costs, 10 years of a retirement visa plus the return cost if leaving the county which many also do, the cos then comes about to be about the same except then one doesn't have to pay ANY taxes on foreign income remitted, no 90-day reports, not bank letters, etc nor no funds being in an acct. I just did my first 1-year report (as I didn't leave the country and if I had then the 1-year anniversary would have switched to the date of my arrival back in country. All I was reqired to provide either in person or an agent or spouse or whatever, was a filled in form 95 available from the BOI or immigration offices, my passport showing the TM6 (if available) 15 days prior to the anniversary date or 7 days after that date. I spent at most 12 minutes at the BOI/Immigration office and on my own did bring my TM30 for my BKK stay which hadn't been mentioned by the BIO but I had a copy just in case it might be needed. No copies of any other letters, or visits to any other office - had to be free of any costs and only 12 minutes in the buiding! I am a retired US Govt civil servent, by no means wealthy except by the BOI Standard and if one doesn't have even close to my annuity, I would be worried about the next 4 years for sure.
