I can remember a program about 40 years ago that was started in an agency of the US - they worked with EEO and other offices to come up with 10 different categories of negative work traits and decided that one would need to meet at least 3 before being terminated. The first ten candidates meeting that criteria were ID'd, then the EEO said it wouldn't work as all ten were black so that program was terminated. I was a civil servent for 40 years and in my particular office I met very very few that were not working diligently almost all the time. When I became a manager/worker, all my people worked ALL the time or soon departed from my office. BUT, I rewarded the strongest workers and as all employees noted that they all began doing extra and people lined up to come work in my office as it was one of the best producers but not always the top as competition and pride of accomplishment zoomed. Job satisfaction and recognition by seniors made folks stronger!

Look at England - every 45 minutes of the year 2024 a rich England family relocated to a non-tax country in the midedle east as the economy in Engl;and is like the US, the younger generations have lost out due to being educated for yesteryear's economy so can't find a job to enable them to buy a house nor raise a family comfortably. Just like the US is becoming today too!

As a US civil servent (retired) I have noted how rich our Congress folks get and noted that they couldn't even floor a bill outlawing insider trading. Pelosi's husband's company became super rich with many govt contracts. It is IMHO time to replace them all and hope some honest folks come in. With unlimited terms (lifetime for many they easily see ways to profit IMHO and have done so. A move is under way to get eough states to propose an amendment to the constitution to limit the number of years for congressfolks. Getting close now.

Gotta love the Commerce Secretary - he stated that they should cut out the monthly payment - his mother-in-law would not call to complain about a missed check and say " oh well won't worry about it until next month for the check" Then he said that the loudest to complain is always the one committing fraud! just go and arrest that guy and check him out! Yeah all these rich guys could not care less about the poor missing a check as they think it shows that that person is just not a producer! but a taker only! He forgets, the SS recipients paid into that fund for their retirement! now Trump/Musk want to destroy SS altogether. Time for the poor to get rid of the rich for sure.

Is your bank account in the US? If so you could open an account with State Department Federal Credit Union - (sdfcu.org) and you could send funds to them without charge and then they could forward to you in Thailand. I have had an Account doing my pension monthly for 5 years with zero problems. The cost for my monthly forwarding, (same day i.e. before evening of day I wanted it, I would send for a wire transfer and if they get it before 8AM, it goes out that day and recieved the day following that you requested it) and was very few dollars more than the wise. Just saying...

It'sme again..google "golf driving ranges and courses near Rangsit - all those really close (within 5 kms) I have played before. I believe each has a drivng range too.

I haven't been out lately but unless things have changed, you can usually go to any of the golf driving ranges. They also usually have spare clubs around for you to hit the ball though weights and shafts might be different than you are used to. Also golf courses always had clubs for rent as they welcome tourists too. Before, I would go to a course by myself and the club would put me with a two or threesome or another single. A lot of this would of course be determined by time of day as many locals like to start early when it is cooler and then again, some of the courses and driving ranges are open with lights.. I used to go to a driving range there in Rangsit but haven't been around there lately. Hopefully, some other forum readers will have more up to date info for you. I understand the itch to get back on the course and plan to do just that but in Chiang Mai in a couple of months. Good luck!

actually, all that I have heard from many webinars of tax authorities and agents, is that DTA's trump local tax law. I am not an expert so do not really know only that is what I heard many times. I am not affected by Thai income taxes whatsoever but just passing on what I heard so it is not any advice or anything like that but should be easy enough to check.

you must have heard a different story about the phone call - both sides say that they won't target energy facilities and that means that the fighting between soldiers will continue. In addition, the US can't share any military equipment or intel with the Ukraine. Sounded more like Putin got all that he wanted almost while the Uraine got hardly anything. Also Ukraine can't attack any Russian equipment in the Black Sea while Ukraine doesn't have anything to attack there. Cease fire? please explain what your definition is as it seems a lot different than in any dictionary!

IMHO, I am 78 years old, and my career sent me around the world many times so a lot of flight time. I also care about my health and fatties to me have that same opportunity and responsibility to not be obese which is the description of too many people in the "free" world. I too always put the arm rest down, try to get an aisle seat when making reservations and refuse to let some fast arse sit on part of my seat. I am not afraid to complain to the flight crew either and do so if there is a problem on a particular flight. It used to be at least 24 hours to fly from SEA area to Washington DC an my home in Maryland and there is no way I would ever put up with some fattie trying to take up more than their fair share.

well along those possible lines, if he continues with his destruction of the fed workforce (30% ex military) plus cuts to medicade - care for military and former military exposed to chemicals since the VN era to present, the current military will not in my honest opinion jump as high as he thinks they will with his orders for boots on the ground in a thoughtless war again! I am a VN vettt and have friends still suffering from AO exposure and getting support from the Medicade department. This is just like Elon and the SS bit saying that they are going to stop those funds for 6-8 year olds. Those 6-8 year olds lost a parent that had paid into the SS system and were guaranteed support until they reach the age of 18. ELON just has no idea whatsoever of the responisibilties of the different departments - and although Trump has an additional 4 years at the helm, I don't think he is very much aware of nor cares about the responsibilities of those departments IMHO anyway.

Not really, did you read my comments. I have felt that Trump is a less than nice guy since I have been reading about him for decades. I wouldn' change anypart of what I wrote, as I didn't open the entire article as I have no idea who that young l women is. My comments were based on the "don't tell Melania" bit.

well, IMHO Melania has a pre-nupt whether done prior to the marriage or since the initial period passed on as he needed her there for the first term election campaign. IAW I think her "secretary" indicates that she doesn't even sleep on the same floor as Trumper and there was a clip the other day on "her" multimillion dollar town home. I think that she will be extremely wealthy if she catches him doing the dirty with someone else.

since when? obviously those stories were either clipped from my notes and since when has anyone with half a brain believed ANYTHING on this forum? w e have seen a continuous march into the Ukraine by Russian troops. IMHO a losing battle from the beginning due to numbers of troops available plus air support plus missiles. Surprised though that it lasted as long as it did. When Russia received the troops from N. Korea I knew for sure that it would be devastating for the Ukrainian troops - wave attacks and probably drugged up as the were in Korea in the 50's. MO for sure!

Yessir! I lived and worked in BKK for several tours in different decades. I was a member of Bangkok Golf Club before and during its expansion, and I retired here but after 10 years straight of the traffic, and a daughter entering school, I told my wife to find a school outside BKK and settled on Chiang Mai. I had played the courses there too and enjoyed all of them but then the pollution got too bad. When my daughter began college, at first we planned to go to the US and she had scholarships offers and acceptance but then with unforseen problems she decided to take a year off and then settled on going to Chulalongkorn the #1 Univ in Thailand which she loves. My wife and two dogs joined her but with the dogs we couldn't stay in the condo near the college for our daughter and we rented a house in Prawet District closer to airport. I have been amazed at how easy now it is to get around town with the trains and GRAB. I gave up golf for a while due to carpal tunnel wrists but have done some exercises and wear gloves designed to help and I mentioned to my wife that I planned to go the the golf shops at Thaniya plaza so will still do that as daughter will be doing junior year on an exchange program in Seoul, Korea and wife and I will return to CM - where I plan to begin golf again. Wrists seem okay right now and will take it easy, no 3 rounds a day/night as I used to do regularly. I never played any golf until age 30 when I was assigned to the Embassy here. One of my co-workers took 4 of us to a golf course on the mountains near Pattaya and all four of us "never played before" bought golf clubs the following week after that first round. I think the second round for us was on KhaoYai at the old now closed golf course - we lost 80 balls on the first 9 holes!!!! Those were the days that they even had armed guards walking on the course due to a tiger sighting. But just those two rounds hooked all four of us forever! I have played courses all around Thailand and always enjoyed every round whether I played well or not. Thanks for the info on the plaza and will go check it out. Long and straight!

like I have said since I was a kid, sanctions are a total waste of time, especially with the world trade situation where just about everybody depends on others for essential goods either for sale or manufacturing or life in general, but then again what kind of analyst am I? like everyone else my opinion is mine.
