Well, until the govt gets some gumption, and fixes the immigration policy for all time, it will remain a bigger problem since both sides will most likely never join the other side to stop unchecked and ILLEGAL entry into the US. We are a nation of IMMIGRANTS and recognize that immigration is necessary for growth. But like too many problems the country faces, politics rules and until the voters wake up and recognize that they have POWER, and can get rid of the RICH selecting through the parties the candidates we are given. It used to be the lesser of two evils, now it is just the less worse of the two oldies. I think the only loser of the election in November is going to be the people of the US and most likely the so-called free world.

Actually I never did think about it as I was paying my US taxes and thought that was all okay. I in following your guidance learned where I could read for myself exactly what the tax code has been and realize that I would not have had to pay any taxes anyway as I only have a US govt pension. I don't think that I will be troubled at all when the final bell for 2024 tax law interpretation takes place. They may indicate a change in the tax laws that makes all us get a Tax ID number from the RD and to provide sufficient proof to exempt any funds remitted into Thailand. I am prepared for these changes if they come about as we have had proper guidance for many months on what could happen if the worse case ruled but which most have said will most likely not affect most of us in a negative fashion anyway. Hoping that all come out after the tax filing season for 2024 is over in a very upbeat manner and grin that we worried uselessly just because TIT.

being a financial non-wizard of any type, what happens if Thailand is invited to join BRICS? Then they go to a BRICS currency or use of local currencies only? What does the US do? I have read numerous articles about BRICS and their desires to de-dollarize everything that they deal with. That is and has been the immigration problem for quite some time. Illegally enter the country. Too many illegals so that it takes 5 or more years before their "asylum" hearing in a court as there are way too few immigration judges/courts to hear all those pouring in. Therefore the current policy for some time is to allow this illegals to roam around the country and do whatever they want apparently just like these two. Entered illegally, arrested and then let loose. What do they do apparentl rape and kill a 12-year girl. Too bad they can only be put to death once each! My opinion and Biden and Co plus the US congress that can't get their act together to work out an immigration bill either should share in the blame for this crime as well as all the other crimes committed by the illegals!!

I thought that with two meetings, advertised with a representative from the RD witht he latest that maybe they would be coming out soon with a final...maybe just waiting until the 180 day mark is past so that it would be too late for those caught unprepared. I too think that should be a no brainer but then you better than any of us recognize how futile daily updates are for some folks who are just beginning to realize that either it will be nothing or that they are targets and have been since the beginning of the change and for changes to come possibly. Either way, I thank you for informing me from the beginning so that I basically ignore most folks here though I do read them all. With so many different countries having members on this forum, I guess we shouldn't be surprised at how different some people think about this issue. Mike, did anyone sit in on the HuaHin tax meetings - one on 15 June and one yesterday evening and supposedly had someone from the RD there to explain where we/they are; and if so, have you heard anything different from that which we still don't know about? Just wondering.
