I renewed my license today and was pleasantly surprised. Previously they wouldn't issue a 5 year license with an elite visa, was specifically told when renewing 2 years ago it had to be a non-imm visa only (oddly enough told it had to be a long term visa to get a 5 year license???)
I was expecting another 2 year temporary. Anyways I don't have to go back for 5 years now :)
Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa ConnectI also got 5 year when renewing my 2 year temporaries on an Elite Visa. Applied for IDP also.

Success! Less than 90 minutes.

Lead fall pulling off the belayer? They may have more guts than skill,

I didn't know there were any Yakuza in Thailand. Never heard of any issues with the Japanese here, they are usually very hard-working and polite.
A certain Japanese restaurant in Chiang Mai is run by complete caricatures of the above, heavily tattooed Oji-sans (older guys) in Tracksuits. The food wasn't anything special and I notice they never seem to have customers although it has been open for years and years. Perhaps they are up to something else?!

In Chiang Mai there is a report of issuing a 5 year license to elite/PE Visa Holder. I am a PE visa holder and will be trying to renew my 2 year licenses, there in Chiang Mai, to 5 year next month.
Fingers crossed.

Have posted TWICE about this already after reading 2 other news stories in Thai press which stated:
He was VISITING
His daughter lives and works in Bkk
He left instructions on leaving his money to loved onesHe had contemplated an exit for some time due to health
Again, as his Daughter who lives here may be looking in, could the usual ThaiVisa muppet posters kindly refrain from crass/thoughtless comments? Sincere condolences and heartfelt thoughts to his grieving daughter.
Did he recon with somebody via mobile on the ground to spot his landing?
Could have killed a passerby.

I tried that with Chiang Mai immigration (filed TM30 in 2008)
Fleeced 1600 Baht with Official receipt last year for this "violation".

Sadiq Khan just spoke on CNN. London "safest global city". He is completely out of his depth.
The police response was breaththtaking by the way , if only the politicians would take the gloves off the security forces these thugs could be contained.
Meanwhile you can't enjoy a night out without being run over or stabbed with 12 inch knives by men committing murder in the name of religion.

Ole Maverick Senator McCain at it again. . Has been playing that tune for 50 years. A pilot of questionable judgement and skills who would have been washed out had his father not been and Admiral. Crashed a trainer plane, taking out power lines in Spain, Forrestal disaster. Had he not been eventually been essentially GROUNDED by the Viets he probably would have killed himself in an airplane eventually. The Peter Principle in action.

I always think for a tourist applying for an extension where a TM 30 is required, the easiest solution is just checking into a cheap hotel for a night, and applying for the extension the next morning. The immigration office will have no idea what you have been doing for the earlier part of your stay. It is perfectly reasonable from their point of view that you have been traveling and just arrived in their area.
That is a good idea but it has been reported in CM many many hotels do not even have licenses and guesthouses are also operating illegally. Surely many required notifications are not lodged .
Now a visa exempt guy rocks to CM Imm up for a 30 day extension, whose problem is it now? I would just show them the dated hotel receipt and suggest it is the Hotels problem but if Imm does not budge is the tourist able get the illegal guesthouse operator down there immediately? And potentially expose the operator to huge fines and sanctions? Or just pay the standard 1600 Baht and be on his way? The TM 30 has been a "nice little earner" for CM immigration.

I got sucked into watching Vegan youtubes when the competing Vegans made news previously. Durian rider is obsessed with being lean and showing off abs. Other vids had him calling a rival fat and body shaming. Most western people male or female is not easy to stay rail thin after a certain age unless on a strict diet. Part of his aggressive antisocial behavior is a manifestation of pure vanity. The police should call him in for a good dressing down followed by Waiing and groveling.

Just got my card. I have never dealt with Japanese immigration (directly)
before makes Thailand look easy.! If anyone wants some some advice let me know the agents at the airports are very polite
but cannot give straight answers to anything and basically don't speak English at all. The English language support documents on the site are very confusing
My first application was rejected for technical reasons, then a second application took about 3 months for initial approval.
You then go to the airport with your original documents.

The only way for this to be practical for short term visitors would be to have a mandatory Govt sponsored or approved selection of Thailand specific policies purchased on arrival or online. How could the Thai authority validate insurance from dozens of countries? It would just spawn online fake insurance as they now have with "onward ticket" scams.
I have never purchased travel insurance. I have through my employer ( US based) top rated Worldwide medical cover. For Thailand though there are only a few facilities that support direct billing and the way it works is I go anywhere self-pay anyway and apply later for repayment. This all comes down to a plastic card written in English that actually says "This card is not a Guarantee of Cover". What is a Thai IO supposed to make of that? I also have the card in an APP on my smartphone.
I also get from my employers the "InternationalSOS" card which is not insurance but some kind of network that coordinates services and communications in case of trouble. Of course also high limit credit cards, and access to cash. My job requires almost constant international travel anyway so I would have to purchase a full-time plan of "travel insurance" anyway so it seems redundant.
Also I have read the fine print in some of these travel insurance policies notice they exclude for me normal activities such as "cycling" and "training for any sport event". So when I'm out on my run training for a 10k or HM get clipped by a Tuk-Tuk not covered?
Useless.

A Thai bar girl with an overweight Western guy copulating on the basis of a financial transaction, i can sort of understand. Young decent looking fit Western guys coming to Thailand with their young (but slobbish, completely out of condition wives / g'f's, eating bars of chocolate and drinking fizzy pop all day) that i just don't understand. What must they be thinking when they see what could be so easily available to them. Add to that in most cases those guys have probably paid the 25000 baht airfare for their girl as well !
Youth wasted on the inexperienced. A few years ago I read the average American girl is a size 14,
now it is size 16-18!

Why come over to view birds when the man raising them is away.
Why go indoors do they keep fighting cocks inside the house?
No assault here flirty wife got caught fooling around
Result a man is dead she did not pull the trigger but...

Example. How could Taxi drivers run their scams if the only way to get paid is to run the meter and the customer renumerates electronically by tapping a smart card on a reader?

This is totally about the money the country makes from tax from cigs, booze. If they could make a monopoly on e-cigs, drugs and sex it would be totally legal but they cant. The world is now bigger than mere governments and they dont like it. So stomp on the little man.
They could get with the trend, which will only grow of switching to vaping for quitting purposes or preference, put a nicotine tax on the so-called "juice", but they won't.
Ciggie Monopolies don't want competition.

Ban cash and importation of any physical foreign currency. Implement a smart card system. Corruption and crime difficult when taxed and tracked data exists for every transaction. Sweden is going this way first.
-
I think caning followed by detention and deportation with lifetime ban would be in order for "tourists" like these. This is not a mistake, a drunken error, or a false accusation. Coming to Thailand to exploit the people who welcome them, have a party time then piss off home. What would happen to the shop assistant responsible for a 50,000 loss?
People like this are useless scum in their own country and will never do an honest days work. Why let them in? If Thailand wants to continue visa waiver travel they should be wired into the police systems of major countries. Not 100% but they would be able to block most crims. Guarantee these fine British Chaps have been done up for various anti-social behaviors before.

Could be subsiding soil due to drainage or underground digging then root damage.
Now they will go around BKK and remove healthy trees or "pollard" them down to toothpicks.

There was an amnesty a couple years back...pay the fine and no ban. I would have thought everyone on over stay took that opportunity..
Unless the OP made a wind up surely the "friend" is broke with no way to buy his way out of this overstay. Thailand is a big country with many out of the way villages there are many more on long overstays doing just fine with helpful families and local connections, staying under the radar. Foreigners get nothing from the government here, unlike illegal aliens in Western countries.

Sell a Banks property? That would be theft. Most aircraft are leased.

Last night after they dealt a small blow to the aggressive ladyboy infestation saw the Bib down Loi Kroh road.
After dinner at Le Meridien. Police Dogs and flashing lights doing a run thru at the Boxing Stadium.

Saw the same at a songkhran/foam party in CM a few years ago, ran in fear.
Huge temporary cables and junction boxes submerged in ankle deep water with hundreds dancing obliviously

The machines I see on Lazada are "compatible" copies, what if it breaks? The genuine Capsules are only available online (or Siam Paragon in BKK). Order and the get to Chiang Mai next day. No worries if you have problems with your machine they send you a new one.
