A Thai delivery rider vanished after collecting eight iPhones, valued at over 100,000 baht, causing the client, Kittiphong Loeslaew, to voice his frustrations online. The delivery service is expected to compensate him for the loss. The online community advised Kittiphong to file a formal complaint against the delivery fraud, as the rider and vehicle registration details were available. They also recommended customers request a photo of the delivery rider, unmasked and with the goods, prior to accepting the delivery. If discrepancies are found between the account and the delivery person, they suggest cancelling the delivery immediately to avoid losing goods, time, and peace of mind. Kittiphong shared his bitter experience on Facebook. He believed that the company should reimburse him for his losses. “iPhone 8… eight devices. They collected them and then just disappeared. As the conflict in Israel escalates, Thai labourers in the region are facing increased worries about their safety. Despite this, many are determined to remain and continue working. The most recent violence between Israel and the alleged Palestinian terrorist organisation Hamas has resulted in several thousand rockets being fired into Israel, leading to numerous fatalities. Among the dead are 12 Thai workers, as previously reported. Sombat Traisakdi, Deputy Governor of Chaiyaphum province, today revealed that in response to the crisis, the province has mobilised efforts to assist the local workers in Israel. There are 772 Thai labourers from Chaiyaphum currently working legally in Israel, made up of 742 men and 30 women, and an unspecified number working illegally. The provincial authorities are hastening their efforts to identify the exact number of workers from each district who are currently in Israel, to extend necessary aid. The Deputy Governor further stated that the highest number of workers from Chaiyaphum are from Ban Thaen district with 144 people, followed by Phu Khiao with 133, Kaeng Khro with 110, Mueang district with 110, and Nong Bua Daeng with 68. The rest are spread out across other districts. Journalists on the ground were able to interview relatives of Thai labourers in Israel. Some families have been able to maintain contact with their loved ones, while others have unfortunately lost communication. There are plans to upgrade Phuket’s Chalong Pier, making it the island’s fourth “smart” pier, alongside Ao Po, to the north, Panwa Pier, on the east coast, and Rassada Pier in Phuket Town. At the time it was opened, Ao Po became Thailand’s first smart pier. The Phuket regional marine office has confirmed that the privately-run Chalong Pier will become the fourth “smart” pier in the province, helping to improve visitor experiences. Digital solutions offered at smart piers aim to improve tourism service standards and boost tourist confidence. Officer director Nachapong Pranit says marine authorities will work with relevant agencies on the project, including the Digital Economy Promotion Agency. The cost of the upgrade project is expected to be around 60 million baht. He adds that his office will also cooperate with the operators of piers run by state agencies and other privately-run piers in order to improve services and safety. With Khao Lak the chosen location for a new airport to serve Phuket and other neighbouring provinces, attention is turning to road safety in the coastal town. Thai PBS World has a detailed report examining the issue and the reasons behind the high number of incidents each year. The new airport, called the Andaman International Airport for now, will be located to the east of Kok Kloi town, just 10-15 minutes north of Phuket. The new Thai PM has visited Phuket twice over the past month to endorse the major infrastructure project in Phang Nga. By the end of 2023, Khao Lak will have welcomed some 2 million tourists, generating some 10 billion baht in tourism revenue. However, foreigners continue to die on Khao Lak’s roads each year due to issues such as a lack of lighting, poor driving and local drivers speeding. BANGKOK (NNT) - Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Srettha Thavisin met with business leaders in Hong Kong, as he highlighted Thailand’s readiness to welcome investors and business sectors, and conveyed a message of trust and confidence in the Thai government’s preparation and willingness to offer assistance and cater to the needs of Hong Kong investors and businesses. A private sector representative Dr. Allan Zeman, Chairman of Lan Kwai Fong Group, praised Thailand’s visa-free policy for tourists. He believes that the business sector would benefit from this policy, as China is a large market for Thailand’s tourism, with more than 1.4 billion people. Meanwhile, another business representative said Hong Kong has a huge labor shortage in the medical field, thus inviting Thai doctors and experts to visit Hong Kong to share their experiences and expertise with Hong Kong medical workers, while pointing out Thailand’s internationally-recognized standards of excellence in healthcare services. The Airport Authority Hong Kong in the meantime expressed hopes that Thailand and Hong Kong would accelerate the creation of transportation connectivity to increase the number of tourists and create infrastructure connections. In response, the Thai PM agreed and said that Hong Kong Airport is considered one of the most efficient airports in the world which is a transit hub and cooperates with U-Tapao Airport. The airport is considered a memorable destination for travelers and promotes the economy through tourism. Furthermore, Hong Kong is interested in investing in Thailand, seeking the Thai government’s assistance in enhancing the Ease of Doing Business, as the country serves as the center of the CLMVT region. This presents a great opportunity to foster a growing business environment. The Thai Senate voted overwhelming today (Monday) against a police summons for Senator Upakit Pachariyangkun to acknowledge charges of drug trafficking and money laundering, following a debate in parliament after the embattled senator was given a chance to defend himself. Senator Upakit was linked to an influential Myanmar businessman, Tun Min Latt, who has close connections with the Myanmar strongman, who was arrested in Bangkok in September last year on charges of drug trafficking and money laundering. Before the debate, Deputy Senate Speaker Suphachai Somcharoen informed senators about the request from the Royal Thai Police to summon Senator Upakit for questioning regarding the charges against him. He also informed senators about Section 125 of the Constitution, which prohibits the arrest or detention of a member of parliament unless there is consent from the House or the Senate. A former United Thai Nation (UTN) electoral candidate has asked former Move Forward party leader Pita Limjaroenrat to stop interfering with the government in the effort to help Thais in Israel, pointing out that it is none of his business. In his Facebook post yesterday (Sunday), in response to Pita’s offer of assistance, Shinapat Kitlertsiriwattana, former UTN candidate for Chiang Mai’s Constituency 1, said that Pita’s claim that he called the Israeli ambassador to Thailand on Saturday night, expressing his condolences for the Israeli people and offering his support for the Israeli government to ease the conflict for the safety of Thai people in Israel, will only cause confusion among the Thai people there and will not help improve the situation “because you are neither the prime minister (of Thailand) nor a party leader nor an MP and should let the government do their job.” “It is none of your business. This is not the time for fame seeking,” said Shinapat, as he advised Pita to carry on with selling dreams to the young people “until they wake up”. Remarkably, despite her son being the victim of a sickening sexual assault, the French mother had her passport confiscated after the suspect filed an assault charge against her. To add further insult to injury, the French Embassy refused to help and the Thai police urged her to drop the case. The 30 year old French mother took to Twitter (@Princessemondi2) on September 29 to recount her harrowing experience. She revealed that she works as a hairdresser and had worked hard for years to bring her seven year old child on a trip to Thailand. The French mother, named Mina, said they were enjoying the trip and everything was going well until their last day at the hotel on the island. They got up early in the morning and went to a grocery store about 10 metres from the hotel to get a coffee. When they returned to the hotel to check out, they discovered that they had left their room key in the grocery store. The boy volunteered to get it because the shop was close to the hotel. Unexpectedly, the boy returned to the hotel in shock and told his mother that a Thai man had sexually assaulted him in the shop. The boy explained that the man made the boy sit on his lap, touched his penis and forced him to touch the man’s penis.
