Police arrested a drug-dealing 14 year old boy for selling and using Yaba in the Kosum Phisai district of Maha Sarakham province in the northeastern part of Thailand. An officer from the Sosum Phisai Police Station yesterday raided the teenage boy’s house and discovered 162 Yaba tablets (also known as methamphetamine) with the drug paraphernalia in his bedroom. The teenager was reported to be under the influence of Yaba when the police conducted the investigation. A drug test confirmed the presence of methamphetamine in his system. The boy admitted that he took three to four tablets of meth daily and also sold the drug to friends and adults in the community. He confessed that he obtained the drugs from his uncle, who enlisted his assistance in distributing them in exchange for a personal drug supply. The teenage drug dealer disclosed that he typically received approximately 200 Yaba pills from his uncle and sold them at 50 baht per tablet. A shocking scene unfolded when an elderly woman was found murdered in her garden by the riverside yesterday at approximately 1.30pm in Sila sub-district, Mueang Khon Kaen, Thailand. In a subsequent investigation led by the local police chief, Pra Kengsarikit, crucial evidence about the crime was discovered. With the main suspect on the run, the manhunt to nab him escalated quickly. Police officers along with four medical examiners, including Niruth Khunkitti, visited the crime scene where the 79 year old woman, Pao, was found. Revealing the brutality of the act, the autopsy of the deceased showed multiple stab wounds. A long knife of about 20 centimetres, believed to be the murder weapon, was later uncovered from a dishwashing sink behind the house near the crime scene. Near the crime scene, the police took evidence from a room filled with furniture and alcohol – six bottles of white spirits, a beer bottle, an energy drink, and a water jug. The spotlight soon turned to Pao’s grandson, who was missing from the scene soon after the crime was reported. The detectives from the local police station followed up on a tip-off, which led them to a roadside cement slab on the outskirts of the city. They found their suspect, Surawit, a 28 year old man, who appeared inebriated and seemingly preparing to flee. Surawit was taken in for questioning but remained silent, revealing only that he lived a secluded life and his earnings were spent on maintaining his family, reported KhaoSod. A woman truck driver lost her life when anonymous gunmen targeted her vehicle, leaving her vehicle’s cabin peppered with several rounds on one of Nakhon Si Thammarat’s main roads earlier today. The shooting took place at 6am on the southern-expressing Asian Highway 41, in tambon Na Bon. Police, rescuers, and medical personnel rushed to the scene to confront the sight of a bullet-strewn 22-wheel trailer equipped with a refrigerated unit loaded with pasteurised milk, pulled amid the motorway. From the preliminary investigation, police deduced that at least 17 shots had been discharged at the vehicle, reported Bangkok Post. The 50 year old driver, Lalinya Kosai, originally from Chon Buri’s Bang Lamung district, was found dead slumped over the driver’s steering wheel with several gunshot wounds to her body. A potential roadside rescue incident today remarkably turned into a drug bust. Highway police in Surat Thani province initially responded to what appeared to be a broken-down vehicle but unexpectedly stumbled upon a sizeable drug haul hidden in the car’s compartment. The suspicious behaviour of the driver, a 31 year old man, led the police to undertake a search of the vehicle, finding around 38,880 methamphetamine pills labelled ‘WY,’ and homemade firearms. When questioned, Nares Charaluk confessed to having been paid 20,000 baht to deliver the drugs. He received the assignment from a Facebook user named ‘Racha See of Surat Thani,’ whose real name and identity remain unknown. His task was to pick up the drugs from a location in the Ban Na San district and deliver them to a drop-off point in Phunphin. To signal the arrival, Nares would stop the car and turn on the hazard lights as a sign for the dealers to follow. The unexpected arrival of the highway police, under the assumption of mechanical problems with the car, brought Nares’ operation to an abrupt end. Evidence and the guilty party were handed over to Phunphin local police station to proceed with legal actions, Khaosod reported. Thailand struggles to control its problems with drugs, particularly methamphetamine. A 21 year old factory worker narrowly escaped blindness after a road incident involving an angler’s fishing line in Nonthaburi. The worker was a pillion rider on a motorcycle, and as they passed a fisherman, the line slashed across his face. The incident occurred on June 26. The road itself was alongside a canal and trailed by a rice field. Among the injured were the motorcycle rider, 35 year old Phumin, and his younger companion, 21 year old Ronnagrit. They both worked at a local dessert factory in Bang Bua Thong district. Phumin narrated the ordeal, saying that as they journeyed to work, they encountered a man fishing. It wasn’t until they passed him that the younger rider was snagged by the fishing line resulting in a long wound. The fishing line was linked to a tree on the other side of the road. Phumin further mentioned that luckily, they had helmets on. However, Ronnagrit had his visor up for fresh air, leading to the fishing line causing abrasions around both his eyes. Following this, they rapidly stopped to check Ronnagrit’s condition. The angler hurried over and apologised. Noticing the wound, they decided it wasn’t deep and fearing lateness for work, they continued on their journey, reported KhaoSod. In a shocking incident from Chachoengsao, a 12 year old boy suffered severe burns covering 70% of his body after his friend doused him in alcohol while burning rubbish. The offending child’s mother, a teacher by profession, tried to settle the case by paying 2,000 baht (US$57) and suggesting the victim’s family report the incident to the police. The traumatising event took place on June 26, at around 7.30pm, in the housing community at Noen Takro, Chachoengsao province. The horrific accident left the child in a critical condition, lying unconscious in the hospital, and his family worried and desperate for justice. The victim’s family shared their traumatic experience on Facebook which then sparked social outrage, reported Sanook. The Deputy Inspector of the local police, Arttaphan Kotchasi, said… “Kids were burning garbage together in the neighbourhood. One of them started the fire and sprinkled alcohol on it. Then, he turned the flame towards the victim who was urinating. This caused the boy’s clothing and body to catch fire resulting in severe injuries.” The offending child’s parent said… “I agreed to help initially. I said I would contribute 5000 baht towards the medical expenses. But I’ve only given 2000 baht so far.” By Samantha Rose Caption: Photo by Sanook #news Full Story: https://thethaiger.com/news/eastern-thailand/12-year-old-severely-burnt-in-chachoengsao-fire-incident-parents-fail-to-provide-5000-thai-baht-compensation -- © Copyright Thaiger 2023-07-04 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. In a tragic accident last night, a police officer driving recklessly crashed his pickup into four motorcycle riders, killing two and injuring two others. The report confirmed the officer’s alcohol levels as exceeding the legal limit. An Isuzu pickup truck collided with three motorbikes on Napeephat Canal Road in Ayutthaya’s Wang Noi district at around 4.30am. The incident, resulting in two fatalities and two serious injuries, quickly drew the investigative eye of a deputy inspector from Wang Noi Police Station, Wivut Jannak. Windowing into the accident scene, three motorcycles were found scattered across the road haphazardly amongst a mayhem of damaged and twisted metal. A 32 year old woman, Wanphen, and a 19 year old man, Phusit, succumbed to their injuries upon immediate arrival at Wang Noi Hospital. Found nearby was the responsible pickup truck, driver’s door agape, its front portion crumbled in an obvious testament to the severe impact. Sitting behind the wheel was a 53 year old deputy inspector from the local police station, identified only as Adthakon. Thailand starts pomelo export to U.S. in historic deal BANGKOK (NNT) - The United States has for the first time allowed Thailand to export its pomelo to the country, as Thailand eyes more markets for its delicious fruit. BANGKOK (NNT) - The United States has for the first time allowed Thailand to export its pomelo to the country, as Thailand eyes more markets for its delicious fruit. Thailand has shipped its first batch of pomelo to the United States, following a new agreement allowing the export of four pomelo varieties from Thailand to the United States. The first batch, which included the Thong Dee, Khao Yai, Khao Namphueng, and Khao Tangkwa varieties will be featured at Sawasdee DC Thai Festival on 2-4 July in Washington DC, to celebrate the U.S. Independence Day and the Thailand-U.S. diplomatic relations. The fruit was shipped together with other Thai fruits such as mango and mangosteen, weighing 864 kilograms in total. This shipment was dispatched on 26 June. Government Spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said caretaker Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha admired this success, which helps broaden international markets for Thai produce. The United States Department of Agriculture requires pomelo exported from Thailand to be treated with gamma irradiation at the dosage of 400 Gray for 3 hours. This process is performed at Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology. The exported fruits are also required to be sorted and processed at authorized facilities. Thailand is currently allowed to export 8 kinds of fruits to the United States, namely mango, lychee, longan, pineapple, mangosteen, dragonfruit, rambutan, and pomelo. The Department of Agriculture currently has a guideline to help private firms reduce cost and increase the volume of each batch of export. If successful, this guideline could be a tool for businesses to apply commercially.
