BANGKOK (NNT) - Thai elephant Sak Surin seems relaxed after his return to Thailand from Sri Lanka. The elephant is expected to start receiving medical treatment after completing a 30-day quarantine. Monday is Sak Surin’s second day back in his home country as he seems relaxed. The elephant spent decades in Sri Lanka as a symbol of diplomatic ties between both countries. The elephant was flown back to Thailand yesterday to receive medical attention. Sak Surin today spent his afternoon playing in the rain, which was broadcast live on Facebook page of the Thai Elephant Conservation Center Lampang. An official described Sak Surin’s gestures as signs of relaxation. The elephant also responded well when called by his name. After spending 30 days in quarantine, the elephant will start receiving medical treatment for his leg injury at the Thai Elephant Conservation Center’s Elephant Hospital in Lampang. A school in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Soeng Sang district has resorted to using a drone in an attempt to chase away thousands of herons, which have occupied a forest close to the school, out of fears that their presence could bring diseases. The attempt failed to drive out all the birds, with most remaining in trees. The birds arrived in April this year to an area which is about 50 metres from Bansa Prateep School’s canteens and about 100 metres from the student buildings. Their numbers grew fast and it is estimated that there are now nearly 4,000. #news Full Story: https://www.thaipbsworld.com/korat-school-uses-drone-to-chase-herons-away/ -- © Copyright Thai PBS 2023-07-04 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. She said that the wounds on the front leg may pose a problem for the elephant in the long run because of its weight. The first thorough medical check-up since its arrival at the conservation centre yesterday (Sunday) shows that the elephant is a little fatigued, but he is well overall. He is eating and his digestive system is functioning normally, she said, adding that the animal sleeps on one side and can get up by itself. #news Full Story: https://www.thaipbsworld.com/sak-surin-well-except-for-the-wounds-on-his-hips-and-front-leg/ -- © Copyright Thai PBS 2023-07-03 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. She made known the physical assault occurred during a meeting at a golf course in Bo Win, Si Racha County, Chon Buri province. The ex girlfriend of MFP MP Sirin Sanguansin shed light on the incident via Facebook. She stated her severe discomfort about the incident she had with the politician. The unnamed woman argued that some outlets had overstated the events and posted misleading information which greatly affected her and varied from her actual intentions of filing a complaint against Sirin. She further clarified the circumstances of the physical assault incident clarifying that they had an argument, which aggravated into a struggle for a phone inside a car. Sirin attempted to forcefully take the phone from her, which resulted in the phone hitting her face violently. The incident occurred when a pickup driver lost control of his vehicle, causing it to flip upside down on a treacherous bend. However, the family attributes their son’s survival to a sacred amulet he wore, which they believe bestowed divine protection during the harrowing crash that occurred around 2.30am today. Sergeant Major Songkiat Sawanlok of Nong Khayang Police Station, along with paramedics from Nong Khayang Hospital, rushed to the scene of the roadside accident after receiving notice of the tragedy. The vehicle, an Isuzu truck registered as “กจ 5263 Uthai Thani,” was found overturned, its wheels pointing skywards, next to a large mango tree. A severely injured 37 year old passenger, Jesada (surname withheld), was found writhing in pain on the ground. First aid was promptly provided and he was transported to Uthai Thani Hospital. Amid the chaos, Jesada’s relatives were alerted to look for a sacred amulet, a Luang Por Phat Wat Huay Duan, TriMas 63 edition, which had fallen from his neck during the roadside accident. The amulet, believed by them to have miraculously saved Jesada’s life, was retrieved. The driver’s body, identified as 34 year old Anuwat (surname withheld), was discovered behind the vehicle. His face was significantly disfigured due to impact, and his right arm was severely broken, reported KhaoSod. Police apprehended a 53 year old resident of the Buriram province, who had been disguising himself as a monk to deceive local temple heads. Phanuphong, also known as ‘Oat,’ used his clever ruse to swindle more than 180,000 baht (US$5,112) from Monhkol Jatsanlo, an 82 year old abbot from Buriram, last June. Now in the custody of the police, Phanuphon has confessed to his wrongdoings. He admitted his likeness to the individual seen in the closed-circuit television footage, and that he utilised the stolen funds to support his new wife’s fruit-selling venture. An investigation led police to the Nakhon Ratchasima province where Phanuphong was discovered residing in an unnumbered rental property, reported KhaoSod. While canvassing Phanuphong’s home village, it was learnt that the suspect originally hailed from southern Thailand but moved in with his spouse in Buriram. However, the couple has been separated for several years. His dubious actions during his residency disturbed many. He engaged in petty theft and ruffled the feathers of several residents. Community members held a grudge against Phanuphong and are clearly unhappy about the prospect of his return to Buriram. The Thai Red Cross Society today disclosed the touching story of a mother who donated the heart of her son on a life support machine to save another’s life. Despite facing criticism from people who couldn’t understand her decision, the mother hit back saying it was the right thing to do to save the life of another. Sopha Noyjinda’s son, Adisorn Sangsi, was involved in a tragic accident that turned the family’s life upside down. The accident left Adisorn on a life-support machine. Sopha said… “People were questioning how I could let him go as he was still breathing, but I knew his life was only due to the machines. If we unplugged him, he wouldn’t survive.” Returning from work one day, Sopha received the news from Adisorn’s friend about the accident. Rushing to the site, Sopha found her son lying motionless, with no major visible injuries. A decision had to be made to undergo surgery, leaving a distraught Sopha bewildered at the proposition. The doctors gently hinted at the possibility of organ donation, but a hopeful Sopha clung to the idea that her son was still breathing, dismissing the suggestion immediately, reported KhaoSod. Within days, however, Adisorn’s condition worsened. His swelled body hardened – a cruel contrast to the warmth Sopha had held onto just the day before. Informed that his organs were failing, but still in a transplantable condition, Sopha thought back to a video she had watched only a few weeks prior, of a heart being transported for transplant. Sobbing at the magnanimity of the act, the mother wondered if this was fate guiding her towards a decision.
