  1. Yep, I got done recently. A crappy laptop for very basic use. Price looked cheap but not quite to the point of being TOO cheap. A lesson learned but not an expensive one, fortunately. Be careful.
  2. If it were a problem with the CMOS battery, I would expect that the PC would lose the time altogether, not just change time zones. Are you getting any CMOS errors when you start the computer. If you have a multimeter, check the battery is reading at least 3.0V. If it is 3V or more it's probably ok.
  3. I have also has a number that appears to be a London number persistently try to contact me that I have also ignore (ending 2049). Anyone else?
  4. I have had 3 or 4 unsolicited calls to my mobile over the last 2 or 3 weeks. Fortunately they showed as suspected spam and I refrained from answering them, When I did a search for the number it showed as masquerading as JIB on whoscall. Last digits were 2438
  5. I previously registered as an overseas voter.... all fun and games when I got a jury duty summons though. Idiots.
  6. Probably wouldn't be much point. Microsoft changes things so often, it would be out of date before you even bought it....
  7. Be careful and make sure you buy an HDMI to AV cable/adapter/ A lot (all?) of them only work one way round so buying an AV - HDMI adapter might not work.
  8. Some of you suggesting changing passwords should look up what WiFi direct is...
  9. You don't say what make/model of TV, but on my Samsung TV Go to settings General External Device Manager Device Connection Manager Device List Look for any devices you don't recognize and remove them. (If another TV manufacturer, it may vary) Going forward be careful of any prompts coming up requesting to connect to the TV.
  10. Next step to try is a fresh install from a USB. You need to add a file to the sources directory on the USB called ei.cfg Create it as a text file in notepad. It should contain the following text: [EditionID] Professional [Channel] Retail This should allow you to select Windows 10 Pro at installation. https://www.bing.com/search?q=ei.cfg+windows+10+pro&refig=055f3ceaa4f54fb7828ccad12158d9b9&lq=0&pq=ei.cfg+
  11. This is also what will show in a machine that automatically activates with a digital licence on a fresh install. Is this the same as the key you retrieved?
  12. This is a generic key that might work for the upgrade but won't activate: VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T Have you tried thiss way yet?
  13. If you go into settings and then activation and change product key and input tje Pro key you have it should automatically upgrade.
  14. I'm far from an expert, but (as far as I know) any minor change or edit to the image/video would change the hash. This would only pick up exact copies of the original. Can someone more knowledgeable confirm? Once something's on the internet, it's there forever...
  15. You do not get work permits from immigration. You get work permits from the labour office. Do you have a blue passport-sized book? If not you don't have a workpermit.
  16. As someone else has already pointed out, the CPU doesn't have integrated graphics so you require a discrete (add on) graphics card.
  17. And then he'll need to buy another graphics card since the processer is an -F SKU...
  18. I have a vague recollection of seeing news in English on Thai PBS at some point in the past. That may be a place to start looking. In the meantime, it looks like they do live streams on YouTube (though that may or may not help). https://www.youtube.com/@ThaiPBSWorld/streams

  20. It sounds like you have 2-factor authentication (2FA) turned on. To ger rid of the behaviour you describe you will need to turn it off, although from a security point of view it's better to leave it on to reduce the risk of your account being hacked, This link shows the instructions: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/1064203?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop
  21. Thanks for the input so far... @Woof999, yes that's at the bottom end of what I hoped I could get. I don't need the money so not desperate to sell but I don't need it taking up space and gathering dust either. it sees occasional use for streaming in the bedroom so the plan is to sell for as much as I can and put the money towards a mini PC to replace it.
  22. I have a spare PC that I don't use very much so I'm thinking of selling it. But I don't know how much to ask... What would. the ASEAN Now hive mind pay? What would be a good asking price, expecting to sell for a bit less? Gigabyte B365 HD3 motherboard Intel i5 8400 Asus RX 470 4 GB Strix 2x 8GB Corsair LPX 2400 RAM 250 ADATA NVME M.2 SSD 1TB WD Green HDD ASUS WIFI / Bluetooth card Genuine Windows 10 or 11 In a budget Aerocool case with glass side panel and static RGB front fans. (Can't remember exact model). Over to you...
  23. As a general rule, it's better to have more sticks of RAM for the same total. You'd be better off going for a 2x8GB kit. I have Corsair Vengeance LPX in my machines but any known brand should be fine. DO NOT buy any Intel CPU where the model ends in an 'F' these chips don't have graphics (it isn't on the motherboards anymore). If you go for that chip you will 100% need a discrete graphics card.
