Dan747 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I'm sure the Thailand government also looked at United Airlines trying to get a foothold into flying back into BKK now from Hong Kong was part of the deal starting this fall. -

Why More Americans Are Choosing Thailand Over Florida for Retirement
Dan747 replied to CharlieH's topic in General Topics
I live in Orlando and travel back and forth between Ubon and Orlando staying 6 months in each place and making sure I'm not in Thailand for the 180-day Tax requirement. Living in Florida for me is costly as I pay property tax on my house of $4,566.00 and Hurricane insurance of $7,000 with a deducible of $11,000 per year. So, I believe it would be cost effective to completely retire in Thailand. Happy travels and Good Luck! -

From my experience here in Thailand, Thai's seem to want to "Keep up with the Jones" as we say in the USA. It's kind of built into the Thai culture of who you are status wise, how much money ($$$$) do you make, what type of car do you drive and house you live in both in the country you're from and in Thailand. Of course, you immediately do not want to friend these "Fakes!" Also, some of these Thai's, not all, even tell you that they are associated in some manner/form to the Royal family on to upside the conversation-Such an "INSULT!" Just Saying and my "OPINION!"

The newly announced universal Trump tariffs (https://taxfoundation.org/blog/trump-reciprocal-tariffs-calculations/) on April 2 will raise $1.5 trillion in revenue over the next decade and shrink US GDP by 0.4 percent. The April 2 escalation comes in addition to previously announced tariffs, which will raise $1.3 in revenue over the next decade and shrink US GDP by 0.3 percent. Altogether, Trump’s tariffs will raise nearly $2.9 trillion in revenue over the next decade and reduce US GDP by 0.7 percent, all before foreign retaliation.

Here is Musk’s direct quote: “The waste and fraud in entitlement spending — which is most of the federal spending is entitlements — so, that’s, like, the big one to eliminate. That’s the, sort of half-trillion, maybe $6-700 billion a year.” And he’s exactly right. FACT: The U.S. Government Accountability Office estimates taxpayers lose as much as $521 billion annually to fraud — and most of that is within entitlement programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid. FACT: Over the past two decades, the federal government has made an estimated $2.7 trillion in “improper payments” — the majority of which come in the form of “payments to deceased individuals or those who no longer [are] eligible for government programs.” FACT: The Social Security Administration made an estimated $72 billion in improper payments between 2015 and 2022. FACT: The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services estimated it made $140+ billion in improper payments in 2024 alone. What kind of a person doesn’t support eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse in government spending that ultimately costs taxpayers more?
