The bias and discrimination shown towards average Russian people here is disgusting. They aren't responsible for Putins decision.

Wrong button pressed during the bombing mission from Udon Thani to Laos or Vietnam?
Or a mechanical failure. Kind of loose screw.
When they are turning back 'cos things were a bit hot over Hanoi, they had to unload their bombs before landing in Thailand - presumable at Udon Thani. This is the reason why so many bongs were dropped on Laos. I guess this pilot was a bit late unloading his bombs

When asked about their experience in 'Nam.
they use that wonderful, revealing cliche that explains all:
"If I told you that I'd have to kill you".
I'm not allowed to tell you either 'cos I signed the Official Secrets Act several times. But I wouldn't kill you for asking

It always seemed strange to me that those who retire on a an O-A and all the hoops that entails have to have a clean police record certified by their home country police. Yet the O route requires nada. Do other long stay visas require anything from the police?
Good question ! The cost of the Police certificate in UK is not cheap !

70 yrs old age limit for government sounds about right. At a minimum the oldsters should take an annual cognitive test to show they're mentally fit. When I renew my US driver's license at age 72 I'll be required to show I'm fit.
When I renewed my UK driver's license by post at age 7X I had to write that I was fit.

I thought they might be talking about this case, since it hits closer to home for the PM:
Thai Army General Jailed in US$1.3 Million Fraud Case
A Thai Army General and two other accomplices have been sentenced to jail for colluding to coerce two companies into paying 43 million baht (US$1.35million) for state projects that did not exist.
In a ruling yesterday, the Criminal Court in Bangkok found General Sompote Ngerncharoen, 66, Chutikan Boonmee, and Thanankan Nanthadamrongwat guilty of committing fraud.
A former assistant leader of a team attached to the chief of staff of the Department of Defence, General Sompote was a former adviser to a commander of the Fourth Region Army.
How long were they actually locked-up ?

He must be talking about the Mesozoic, and him then coming from the Paleozoic. Plenty of fossils from both eras...
Palaeozoic - lets try and educate our American friends here. Yes - there are lots of fossils in both eras - but dinosaurs occur only in the Mesozoic !

Could it have something to do with alcohol ? Perhaps ?
I suspect that consumption of too much alcohol is a major factor here, irrespective of whether they jumped, fell or were pushed.

I will make a most optimistic prediction. If they lose, there will never be another military coup here. Think about it. The moral authority that backed the coups in the past, is long gone.
Nah. Won't happen. The Thai army does not have the guts for it, and the Thai soldiers, and the families of the soldiers would never tolerate their sons murdering innocent Thais. And the Thai soldiers are not facing the level of desperation the young Burmese are. The poverty here is not as grinding as it is in Burma. I do not think it could be sustained, if the fools started it. Thailand is a very different culture than Burma, on a dozen significant levels. And the youth now, are very different people than they were during past coups, which were violent.
The army is in a difficult position now. If voted out, they would have to accept it. The generals would have to be content with their massive fortunes.
I hope you are right ............

You'll need a whole lot of other dinosaurs to stumble into their well-appointed tar pits before any real changes get made here.
Here's hoping..????
Dinosaurs (regrettably) became extinct about 64/65 Million years ago. The famous tard pits (eg La Brea) with the remains of vertebrate fossils (sabre-tooth tigers etc) are very recent geologically - only 40,000 to 8,000 years !

Perhaps there was a need for the US DEA to have a presence in these raids so that the Thai police didn't let them "escape" after picking up a few brown envelopes. Perhaps more of these type of raids with an international police presence would help to get these drug dealers off the streets.
Back in the 70s there was a significant number of DEA officers in Chiang Mai. They would track the heroin from Burma into Ching Mai and see it loaded to get taken to BKK. The DEA did no have the power of stop and search , nor the power of arrest. They had to contact the Thai police and hand over the job of intercepting them en route. Amazingly many cars /pick=ups were found to be devoid of any drugs .............

Some sea urchins are edible and are not endangered, so probably not illegal.
In some Mediterranean countries the gonads of some echinoids are a delicacy. I have never seen them on a menu in Thailand - maybe I cannot afford to eat where they are served. They maybe being collected to sell to tourists either as complete tests ('shells') or the large spines of some species.

Corals have a habit of dying quite often and their soft tissue (the polyps) are not more. What remains is a large lump of calcite. To the uninitiated this look just like a limestone block. This may be the case here. The lump he is sitting on appears white whilst the surrounding lumps are greenish. This is either due the the lighting or the difference between dead and alive coral heads.

Thailand was the worst place I have ever traveled to if you enjoy traveling. I was in the south traveling and my 90 day report came up. Had to fly back to Chinag May to get it sorted out. The immigration in several cities would not do my 90 day. What a total clown show.
I had this happen to me in Kanchanaburi. They would not do the 90 days 'cos my visa was issued in Hua Hin. There regulations state you can do the 90 days at any Immigration Office. I guess they cannot read this. I was then fined 2000 Baht in Hua Hin for reporting late. That whole 90 nonsense need to be abolished !

As usual, this is just another poorly conceived plan that is not well thought out. Another case of opening your mouth before engaging your brain. I can walk into Bangkok Hospital, plop down my Amex gold card that has no limit and get all the care I need. Period.
Not everybody has an Amex Gold card to plop down. Will 'plop' suffice instead ?

Hong Kong was not taken back. There was no necessity to give Hong Kong away - it was not part of the lease - it belonged to Britain. The stupid Conservative government gave it back for no good reason. Maybe some ministers and other important people got big presents from Peking. The reason that we had leased the New Territories was to get sufficient fresh water for the colony (Hong Kong island). WE now know that it is possible to desalinated sea water on a massive scale as some Middle Eastern countries do. Hong Kong could have happily survived without the New Territories.
