The parents are from India trying to speak English to a Thai person trying to understand English during a very traumatic time. Also, Thais aren’t good with news stories in the first place.

You can't really make a factual statement like that about Thailand, as things are never handled the same. I was involved in an accident and the insurance guys showed up and worked things out. Never once was I asked for my license by the insurance guy or the police. I had a valid license from the USA, but not Thailand at the time. I was visiting Thailand and borrowed a car from a girl I knew. The accident was my fault as I was going to fast in rainy conditions and skid on the steel grate on a bridge when I hit the brakes. I didn't get a ticket, the police didn't really care they just wanted to get us moved off the bridge. Once moved off the bridge the police left, they didn't even ask my name. I can say they were very polite. The guy I hit was really nice and offered me a ride home as the car I had was undriveable. So, in my case neither the insurance guy nor the cop asked for my license. As soon as the accident happened I called the girl I borrowed the car from and she called the insurance company who sent a guy out to handled everything. However on the other hand, I had a friend get into an accident which wasn't his fault. He had a Thai license but still had issues, had to pay a fee to the police and to the guy that hit him. His insurance did cover the damage to the cars. So I was unlawful and had no issues, he was lawful and had issues. I dont condone doing anything illegal in Thailand because you just never know how the dice will roll.

It hasn't started yet. You were using DHL and UPS and they have been charging import/storage/clearing fee for decades.

He's lucky they even showed up. From experience and reports from Thai friends, if it's a small matter and there is no option to make any money 99% of the time they dont show up. We had an issue with a drunk neighbor banging on our door all night so my wife called 3 different police offices and nobody showed up.

The Los Angels embassy always has wrong information. The 15 day rule stopped back in 2004/5, so there is no longer any such rule and especially doesn't apply for arrivals via air.

I hate to say this, but get used to it. The Thai Media only prints what is told, they ask no questions and investigate nothing. Every once in awhile you will get a follow up to a story, but that typically only happens when it's related to other news. I've been hoping for decades for things to change. The BBK post did have some decent reporters in the late 90's / early 2000's but they were all expats and spoke to loudly and eventually needed to depart Thailand. (not by choice)

It's a little sad you're telling a 30 yr old what he can do. You do realize a Thai girl in her 30's is consider an old maid and doesn't have many choices. I would stay out of it, it's her son and her money! I used to weigh in on family issues, but I learned my lesson years ago and now stay out of it. My wife would get upset and talk badly about her sister, I would agree and express my thoughts, but later it would come back to bite me for talking bad about her sister. So know I let family deal with family. Don't get me wrong I'll support my wife on her decisions but when it comes to her family I just agree with her and hold my thoughts.

It seems very common, my wife's uncle paid over a million baht for the position of principle at school.

please tell me how do you pump up the price, it's not like the government can tax it.. also a tablet last I heard was now about 5 baht, or less. I heard low as 3 baht, this is what I heard as I dont buy it so dont really know, but for sure not 30+ baht.

It's not getting, it's been a problem for decades. How to stop it, I have no clues as first the police would need to do their job and they only do that once in a while to show everyone that something is being done. There is just too much money being made both inside and outside of Thailand. If you dont already know the BIB controls most of this. The prices continue to go down and unfortunately many more people will loose their lives. The government has talked about rehab programs but this is Thailand and we know any government run program is going to be worthless anyway. So, what's the answer in Thailand? I truly dont know.

Please tell me how the US in not facing consequences from the Ukraine war? The US is sending billions upon billions to help Ukraine fight off an invader. How is NATO a threat to Russia? NATO is an agreement between nations to support each other if invaded. If Russia has no plans to invade anyone why does he need to worry about NATO?

if they have an employment contract like they should the employer just cant fire them. Also there is severance pay. Why would the employees allow this? did the employees use fake documents to get a work permit? If the employee are legal they have rights, the labor board in Thailand is very strong and is on the side of the worker.

You're right I'm lucky, I got a good education went to work for a company in the USA and after a few years they transferred me to Thailand. Sorry you have an issue! Thailand is not what it used to be (relaxed and easy going) It used to so easy to get a B visa, just needed a letter from a Thai company saying they were going to hire you. Then that was abused and they started wanting cooperate documents, taxes etc and it just got tighter since then. I feel sorry for guys like you having to deal with current government.

I never had an issue getting a work permit and many of my expat friends never had an issue getting a work permit. Sure the process of getting a B visa has gotten harder over the years, but still not that difficult. Medieval? Ask a Thai how difficult it is for a work visa for the USA.
