New dual citizen & digital arrival card
Freddy42OZ replied to BaanOz's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Where did the Thai wife come from? There was no mention in the OP of any Thai Wife. Or are you just someone who assumes all Western blokes in Thailand are interested in Thai women. -
Opinion Russian Teacher to Thais: Drop ‘Farang’ if 'Ni Hao' Offends
Freddy42OZ replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I definitely don't think we should be allowed to do anything we want, that is just ridiculous. Just this morning a friend from New Zealand called me and greeted me with "Jo San" when I answered his call. But I don't see why anyone would be offended, if someone, used ANY language to greet them. I can say Hello in multiple languages. My friends can all understand hello in different languages. Most educated people (from the West at least) can understand a few words in multiple languages, even just from watching TV and Movies. There is no reason why I should be forced to say hello in English only to English people, hello in French only to French people and hello to Thais only in Thai. If a Thai person doesn't understand Bonjour or Gutentag then they also probably have no idea whether I'm English, French or German. Maybe those Italian tourists had heard people say 'Ni Hao' and weren't aware it was Mandarin, but though it was Thai. What if they had said "Ciao" ? I use "Ciao" a lot and I use "Hey Esse!" with some friends even though we are not Spanish speaking gang members. We say "Whassup!" to each other a lot too.... like the famous Bud commercial. -

Do you never use any other languages in Thailand other than Thai? I'm a Brit, when I'm talking with people I know we greet each other in all sorts of languages and ways. I might decide I want to say Bonjour to people, or maybe greet them with 'Jo San' (Good morning in Cantonese). I choose words I know my friends will understand. I studied French, Latin, Spanish and Ancient Greek at school and I have friends from more countries than I can remember, which means I've picked up a few words and even sentences in lots of languages. Most of us know how to say hello etc in multiple languages, why do we have to limit ourselves to using our own language, or saying it in Thai if we speak to a Thai person? Why can't we say hello in French to a Thai person, or say hello in Italian, Chinese, German, Russian? Regular Thais probably don't get enough exposure to lots of other languages, so they don't understand hello in multiple languages, but that is their problem not ours. -

Why not just use Libre Office or better yet just use Google Sheets (instead of Excel) and Google Docs (instead of word). -

I stopped drinking everything except water. Soft drinks first about 12 years ago, alcohol 5.5 years ago. Milk probably 4 years now. There's no reason to drink anything else and water only costs me around 3 baht per day. -

He should look back with pride at how many people had fun using the products he was able to get for them. And yes, your comment was nonsense as there is no soul. We have consciousness but that isn't a soul. As soon as the electrical activity in our body ceases then so does our consciousness, there is no afterlife. -

25 years or so ago I was going to open a bar/club in Hong Kong (my third club, but the first I would have done without partners). The concept was a place only for slim people, fatties not allowed. I had a design concept where the entire front of the venue had floor to ceiling chrome poles, spaced just wide enough for a slim person to fit through, but no way for a fat person to get in. For emergencies the poles could be moved to create a 6 foot wide opening. Everyone I suggested the idea to (in Hong Kong) thought it was a great idea. I didn't do it because I was offered a high paying job in Bangkok. I always thought I'd go back to Hong Kong and open a new club one day.

My building is not a high end condo, its maybe a C-Grade building. I pay 10k THB a month for a 50 sqm, one bedroom condo. We had engineers going over the entire building last week, including coming into our units to check cracks. I have a few cracks in my walls and tomorrow at 10am they are coming back to check again. None of the cracks appear to be structural, so I'm not even slightly concerned about them. But from an aesthetic point of view, who wants ugly cracks in their walls.

1 baht street water machines - do they have filters?
Freddy42OZ replied to scubascuba3's topic in General Topics
I've been using a machine like this every day for the past 13 years. It's on the same floor as my condo unit, about 20 feet from my condo unit's front door. They regularly service it and the filters are inside the unit. -

I have that installed but it kept crashing..however I think that's due to some dodgy ram which I think I have sorted so I'll give it another go. I've never had any issue with it. Using with Linux Mint. -

You only need 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours (in a 12 month period) to be monetized. If you are getting millions of views you should be earning significant money from your YT channel.
