  1. Every Thai man I've met that I would consider being friends with has been willing to be friends with me. What sort of Thai men are you trying to make friends with? What age are they? The Thai guys I know are all in the late 20's to late 30's range. All professionals with good jobs (They all earn a lot more than me!).
  2. There is a group called La French Tech that has been arranging meetups for many years, despite the name the meetups are not only French people. I've been to a few events and they were good. https://www.lafrenchtechbangkok.com/about-us https://www.linkedin.com/company/lafrenchtechbangkok https://www.facebook.com/lafrenchtechbangkok/ You should also check out Meetup.com and do a search for groups meeting in Bangkok https://www.meetup.com/find/?keywords=tech&source=EVENTS My good friend Napoleon Biggs used to run Web Wednesday in Hong Kong for many years, he's now Bangkok based and has started Web Wednesday events here - https://www.webwednesday.asia/community
  3. One of my good friends is an award winning documentary filmmaker, he made the film "A Plastic Ocean" that won several major awards. He's made a documentary about the World's glaciers that you can watch here - https://thelastglaciers.com/
  4. If you are afraid of death then you are likely to want to hold onto some belief that the end of your life isn't really the end. If, like me, you don't fear death then why would you have any need to believe in anything beyond yourself
  5. Which meal delivery service do you use?
  6. I agree. So little compassion shown for a man who has fallen on tough times and is just trying to take care of his son.
  7. I had never heard of them until I read about their new flagship store. The news seemed to imply that they haven't been very active here but are now going to make a major branding push. Rich Thais like things that are shiny and new and look good, which the Palfish store certainly does. Who cares about parents that can only pay 80B an hour?
  8. I eat maybe 4 cheese slices a week, sometimes 6.... I don't think that is too much cheese. Some would argue it's isn't even cheese. However, I did a quick check and I'm not sure there is a correlation, need further study. Some studies suggest that eating a lot of dairy, especially high-fat dairy, may increase the risk of prostate cancer in men. However, other studies have found no clear pattern between dairy consumption and prostate cancer risk, and the risk associated with dairy is thought to be small. Some studies may be flawed because it's difficult to accurately measure milk intake, and other lifestyle factors may be linked to prostate cancer instead of milk itself.
  9. No. The more uneven the pavement the better as it helps improve your balance and the regular stepping up and down the high curbs also helps with fitness and balance. Rarely get motorbikes on the pavements and they don't bother me anyway.
  10. Kim used to live in Hong Kong and I enjoyed many good chats with him in the members only "Kee Club". I hope he beats this ridiculous charge as well.
  11. I enjoy sleeping and if I have free time I often use it to sleep. I try to get 10 hours of sleep during a 24 hour cycle (8 at night, 2 hours of napping).
  12. Palfish just opened a flagship store in Bangkok. That is going to have a negative impact on English teachers in Thailand.
  13. Mi is a subsidiary of Xiaomi, and is a brand used to sell phones and other consumer electronics.
  14. Of course the correct answer is to slow down and let the bus move into your lane. You don't have to move over into the faster lane, you stay in your lane, slow right down or even stop, let the bus move in front of you and then everyone carries on. Why would you want to block a bus from continuing on it's route by not allowing it to re-enter the traffic?
  15. I read that as Trump being Pro-Abortion. I thought his supports are vehemently Anti-abortion. For the record I'm very much Pro-Abortion at any time before the actual birth.
  16. Good point although I'd rather go outside to exercise.
  17. Good point although I'd rather go outside to exercise.
  18. Agust? I wish we could trace the morons that create these images and remove them from the gene pool. If someone is too stupid to spell August properly, after going to the effort of creating a graphic promoting a pointless "day" then why do we want them in our societies?
  19. Yes, I know this. Fat is important for a lot of bodily functions. I do intermittent fasting, not always but periodically. To kickstart my weightloss I did one meal a day, for a few months, which mean't I didn't eat anything for 23 hours and 30 mins, then ate one meal that took about 30 mins to eat. I weighed everything and used chatgpt to find out what my macros were (how much protein, carbs, fat, as well as the minerals in what I was eating). I no longer need to weigh things although if I add a new food to my menu I'll weigh it to check. I cut out almost all sugary foods and drinks from my diet several years ago, most of my carbs come from fresh, steamed veggies. I eat a small amount of very dark choc for the antioxidants. I'm trying to increase my fiber intake at the moment. I have started mixing a tablespoon of Psyllium Husk into a small serving of plain yoghurt but I need to find more natural ways to get fiber into my diet without adding calories. My waistline has gone from a high of 34" down to 31"
  20. I did think about getting a bicycle in Bangkok. I used to cycle a lot when I was younger, everything from road bikes to BMX (I was *very* good on a BMX) But aside from the cost of a nice bike, I don't really see cycling as being that much better than walking. If you are walking you have to keep walking (or you stop!) but on a bicycle, unless you are actually cycling uphill, on flat ground most of the time you'd be coasting. A few revolutions of the crank is enough to get you moving, then there is no reason to pedal, at least not until you slow down too much. On a road you wouldn't be constantly pedaling as it's not a race and you have to keep to the speed limit. I'd rather walk 8 km a day (if I had time)
  21. I've never seen or heard of police 'bashing' anyone who had not committed a crime, or was doing exactly what they had been told to do by the police. However, I have seen criminal getting bashed and I've seen plenty of videos of people being given orders and rather than doing what is being asked, they have continued to argue or with the police, so of course the police are then forced to go from verbal orders to physical action.
  22. You are absolutely right. Rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms appear, but rabies deaths can be prevented with prompt post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). PEP stops the virus from reaching the central nervous system. However, even with supportive care, few patients survive rabies. As of May 2024, the CDC has documented fewer than 20 cases of human survival from clinical rabies.
  23. Just don't bite anyone.
  24. The chocolate is only 8 g per day I eat maybe 8 cheese slices a week (one of the few processed things I eat) What I need to do is some exercise. I walk from Udomsuk to On Nut twice a week to buy my chicken fillets. And I walk a lot generally as I don't use motobikes. But I find working out on my own to be boring. I have a gym and pool that are less than 20 feet from my condo unit, but I never use them.
