Tourism Minister Aims to Levy 300-Baht Fee for Visitors

Hong Kong has had a departure tax for many years (decades?) which currently stands at HK$120, equal to approx 512 THB and applicable to every passenger over 12 years old. Personally I'd be fine with 1000-2000 THB tax on entry or exit. -
Texas Chicken Bids Farewell to Thailand
Freddy42OZ replied to Georgealbert's topic in General Topics
Church's Texas Chicken is an American fast food restaurant chain that specializes in fried chicken and is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. The chain was founded as Church's Fried Chicken To-Go by George W. Church Sr. in April 1952, in San Antonio, Texas, across the street from The Alamo.[3][4] Church's Texas Chicken trades as Texas Chicken or Church's Chicken in many countries.[1][2] The chain is owned by American private equity firm High Bluff Capital Partners. As of 2017, Church's Texas Chicken had more than 1,700 franchised and company-owned locations in 26 countries. Church's Chicken began its international expansion in the 1970s, in Canada, Mexico, Japan, and Puerto Rico.[14][15] In the 1980s, it gained popularity in Indonesia when it opened under the trade name, "Texas Chicken". In 1989, after a four-month legal dispute to avoid a takeover, Church's Chicken became the second-largest chicken restaurant chain when it was acquired by Popeyes for $330 million. -

There is no such thing as 'haunting' Bunch of stupid superstitious nonsense that only ignorant people believe. -
I thought it was "No Money, No Honey" for the man's side, ie if you have no money hard to get honey. And so "No Honey, No Money" would mean if the woman stops providing the honey, the man stops providing the money.

How can anyone answer this when you've not said what sort of life you want, how old you are, how rich you are and a bunch of other important factors. For me personally I would never live anywhere in Thailand other than Bangkok. I want convenience, lots of high end malls to shop in and a lot of people so I can have a large social network. I first started coming to Thailand more than 40 years ago and have been living here for the past 16 years. I've been to a lot of places here and whilst it used to be nice to stay in a luxury resort hotel in Phuket for a holiday, living there would suck, especially nowadays. The 'provinces' are undeveloped, dirty places and mostly filled with peasants. I can't imagine why anyone would want to be out in the boonies with no mates to hang out with.

You mean truth from people that know what they are talking about. -
The whole point of staying in expensive hotels is to avoid low class people. Unfortunately these days there are far too many low class people who make good money and ruin quality places.

I'd much rather be one of them than a clueless dinosaur that can't accept change. He has 28.8 million subscribers on Youtube alone - that in itself requires a lot of professsional skills and effort. You have no clue what is required to build and maintain a successful social media channel.

No-one looks 'better fat' I'm working on getting ripped so that my abs show again. The last time people could really see my abs was about 35 years ago. My goal is to have very visible abs before I turn 58 next year. -

555 You're proud to know kids movies. I'm glad that I still like Sci-Fi action movies, video games, animation and other cool stuff. At what age did you turn into a boring old curmudgeon? -
Nice to know you are a violent person who this hitting someone just because they pushed in front of you is an acceptable reaction.

Healthy home-cooked food in a remote location
Freddy42OZ replied to simon43's topic in General Topics
Airfryers are apparently good, but I don't eat any fried food so can't comment. Frozen Chicken and Fish are great, even frozen veg as a standby for when you run out of fresh veg. I don't bother refrigerating my eggs, but I buy them 20 at a time and eat them within 5 days (4 soft boiled eggs per day, sometimes more). What are your eating goals? For me food is just fuel, I don't eat because I want to, or because I like the food. I eat because I have to; and I only eat food that will ensure I don't get fat. Lots of protein, multiple different steamed veggies. -

Swiss man in Phuket acquitted of assaulting doctor
Freddy42OZ replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
The Steps at the end of the garden were deemed to have been illegally built on public land. However, as he didn't build the steps, merely rented the property with them, it's logical to assume he had no idea the steps were illegal. -

I wouldn't want peasants wandering into my garden or sitting on my steps. Bully for you if you'd be ok with random people coming into your garden for a nose around. -
Uploaded the image to ChatGPT and got this response This medical report describes the results of a microscopic examination of a biopsy taken from a mass in the left supraclavicular area (above the collarbone). The key points are: - **Biopsy**: A sample of tissue was taken from the mass using a needle. - **Microscopic Examination**: The tissue sample was examined under a microscope. - **Findings**: The examination revealed the presence of "metastatic malignant glandular epithelium." ### Breakdown of the Terms: - **Metastatic**: Indicates that the cancer cells found in the biopsy have spread from another part of the body to this location (secondary cancer). - **Malignant**: Refers to cancerous cells, which are harmful and can grow uncontrollably. - **Glandular Epithelium**: This is the type of tissue that lines glands and other structures in the body. "Glandular" refers to the tissue that produces and releases substances like hormones or enzymes. ### Summary: The biopsy shows that the mass in the left supraclavicular area contains cancerous cells that likely originated from another part of the body, indicating that the cancer has spread to this location. This is a significant finding that will likely influence the course of treatment.

Swiss man in Phuket acquitted of assaulting doctor
Freddy42OZ replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
As I said back when this incident first happened. 1) The video showed no evidence of any physical contact. 2) He was well within his rights to not want people trespassing on his garden. What some people might not recall, or may not be aware of, is that his garden is open to the public beach with no fence to stop people wandering onto his lawn. He reported that on several occasions he had come home to find groups of tourists (most likely Chinese) in his garden. He was understandably annoyed by this. In his position I would have probably chased those two people off the steps as well. It's perhaps unfortunate that all Asians have black hair, so it's not possible to tell if someone is Thai or Chinese. Nothing he did was wrong, it was private property, and people should respect that. And for those who will no doubt say "oh but the steps were illegally built on the beach". Explain me how he was supposed to know that? He rented the property in good faith and anyone renting a house like that would naturally assume the steps were legal, were part of the property and therefore private.
