KBank blocked WISE

It's more likely an attempt to stop scammers from repatriating the millions of baht they are taking off Thais every day. -
KBank blocked WISE
Freddy42OZ replied to Freddy42OZ's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Been doing it for the past few years. Kbank virtual debit card to UK bank account, the recipient doesn't even have a WISE account she only has a Nat West Bank account. Never been a problem until now. -
I've been using my KBank virtual visa card to send cash to someone in the UK using WISE many times over the past few years. However since last week my cards are no longer being accepted. WISE said the cards are blocked. I called KBank today and they told me that WISE is now blocked because the bank can't determine where the money you are sending came from and why you are sending it.

Why would immigration visit? They don't have the manpower to be trying to figure out where all the foreign owned businesses have their offices, or which offices might have a farang working in it. I regularly go to friend's offices in Bangkok and while I'm there I might sit at a spare desk to check my emails or facebook. Never once have I worried that immigration might randomly turn up.

Are high end smartphones worth the money (to you)?

A few of my friends have the Galaxy Fold 6 and all of them say that it has made them a lot more productive. One of my Thai friends has both the new Fold 6 and the new S25 Ultra. I was considering the fold at 64K THB but have decided the S25 Ultra is probably better for my use case and its cheaper at 53K THB I'll buy a tablet to go with the phone instead of buying a folding phone. I'm looking at the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra 14.5" tablet which comes with a keyboard case for 63K THB The screen time monitoring app on my phone shows that my screen is on for an average of 8 hours per day. -
There is a very good possibility, given the number of cameras here. If the family has doubts they can get an autopsy which might be conclusive, at that point it is likely to be kept private. There are so many things that can happen. This is too sad. Highly unlikely we'll ever hear the full story. There is rarely any follow-up in the news once they report a person is dead.

Woman Discovers Hidden Spy Camera in Pool Villa Near Pattaya
Freddy42OZ replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
Not smart enough to simply check the contents of the memory card. She'll look very stupid if it turns out the camera was not on and therefore not recording. It isn't illegal to own a recording pen if it's for your own legit use. -

Drunk French tourist crashes into Patong cop, arrested on the spot
Freddy42OZ replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
There was no indication in the post title that the cop was on another bike and the picture in the TV update email was the one I've attached. So I thought the cop was on foot. I saw the attached pic and thought "Blimey! that cop must be a Terminator to have withstood a bike driving into him and just standing there unfazed." 😉😂 -
I tried the True Money wallet
Freddy42OZ replied to Delta Shift's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Not accurate. See my post above. Thanks. I'm now setup to use it with my Google Wallet. -
I just checked whether Western Union is available online, as I've only ever used it the old manual way and I can't be bothered with that. Seems you can now use it to send online and to a bank account, so the recipient doesn't need to go out to get the money. Do you have Western Union connected to your Thai bank? If the banks have to get info such as where you got the funds from, why you are sending it out of the country etc... And presuming Western Union don't ask too many questions, then that might be a solution.

Huge sums of money that would have been spent on the military, could instead be spent on making life better for people.

WISE just shut me down!
Freddy42OZ replied to PumpkinEater's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Not true. I've never had an address in the UK, seeing as I've never lived there. I've used WISE for years, account created in Bangkok, using Thailand as country of residence and my Bangkok address. -
I sent some money to the UK via Kbank's website yesterday, they only have a bank account so I had to use SWIFT. To complete the SWIFT transfer I had to check a box saying the funds were from "Working in Thailand". There was no way to get it to complete without checking the box. I called Kbank after to ask why, seeing as I am retired and don't work. A very nice sounding young woman, with near perfect English explained that if a Foreigner wants to send money out and they are not working here, then they should go into the bank. Apparently you need proof of where the funds are from and what you are sending the funds out for. Normally I use WISE (even for this recipient as I have her bank account linked to WISE), but for the past 4 days none of my cards have been working with WISE. WISE say there is no issue on their end, whereas Kbank (same girl) told me they've been having lots of reports from customers of cards being rejected in the last week. I asked if ticking the "working in Thailand" box would get me into trouble, ie expose me to tax and she said no, but at the moment, but it *could* later. A lot of hassle to send 50 quid to someone who only has a bank account.

No you don't. You can run Deepseek on a phone without an internet connection. It will be a custom condensed version specific to your use case, but it can be done. Vidoes on youtube and articles onlines describing how to do it.

Best way to transport big-heavy-ish stuff between provinces

There will be times when you will want a dedicated mic. As @msbkk mentioned you should go for the Creator Pack, which has extra bits.

Heat is more deadly than cold, in some situations. If the heat and humidity combine to create a high enough "wet bulb temp" then humans and animals cannot regulate their core temps and start to die rapidly from heat stroke. Cooling someone down in that situation is quite hard, and very hard if its affecting lots of people, which it would be. If you are too cold, you can easily wear layers of clothing and with modern fabrics it doesn't even need to be a crazy thick layers. Several thin layers will keep your body heat in and bu eating and exercising you can make your body generate heat. The trick is not to lose it to the environment.

The most important thing is good audio. If you have good audio but your visuals are not great people won't mind, but if you have amazing visuals with poor sound, they won't watch. A good wireless mic will cost about 3500 THB Next most important, if you are filming indoors is sufficient, suitable, lighting. 2 Large softboxes with LED lights is a good starting point, but if you are really on a budget you can probably get away with a single ring light. You can absolutely use your phone camera to get started.
