Was Ex police officer Derek Chauvin wrongly convicted !

No, Floyd's crime was passing counterfeit money. Also multiple counts of drug possession, aggravated robbery with a weapon, etc. -
Was Ex police officer Derek Chauvin wrongly convicted !

I saw similar in the military. It is kind of an "adrenaline dump", where in the aftermath of a hugely stressful event people almost go catatonic. Takes time for the system to "reset" into normal mode and allow for a return to normalcy. -

Gotta remember also, Floyd was one big strong SOB. He dwarfed all the cops on scene. That, plus his obvious intoxication, made them excessively paranoid. To me, it looked almost like Chauvin blanked out, like he didn't know what to do after they finally got Floyd in handcuffs and on the ground. They had tried to load him into a police SUV, but Floyd claimed to be claustrophobic and resisted- strange since Floyd had arrived on the scene in a car. Obviously a BS excuse to avoid being booked or searched. I always thought a negligent death charge or the like would have been justified, but not murder. -
If you had taken the time, you would have seen some numbers. Latest I have seen is at least 80,000 people. If the choice is wait 6 months for an MRI, or drive 2 hours and pay a thousand bucks to get it done on Saturday, a lot of people choose the latter option.
-
The words "responsible fiscal policy" have no place in discussing the current Canadian government. And if supply met demand, there would be no cross border travel for MRIs or any other procedure. Waiting months for a procedure is simply not acceptable. I am glad the equipment in the US returns a healthy profit. It means that it will be available for people unwilling to tolerate the dystopian morass that is health care in Canada. Why do you write with such contempt? Nothing wrong with a business making a profit, is there?

According to this poll by Global News, 42% are willing to go to the USA for routine care if necessary, and 38% for emergency care. These numbers are climbing over time. https://globalnews.ca/news/10322678/health-care-canada-us-ipsos-poll/ Raw numbers? Estimates are from 50,000 per year and up. It is a simple numbers game. The USA has, for example, nearly 4 times as many MRI scanners as Canada per capita. And so on....

I take it you have never had the "pleasure" of living with Canada's health care system. A lot of people think that Canada does not have private health care, but that is untrue. We DO have private health care. It's called "the United States". Given the wait times for even the most basic diagnostic procedures in Canada, it is often a better option to scoot across the border, pay the cost, and get things done. Wait times, lack of primary care physicians....... no thank you. As for the overall cost of living, the US is higher, that is true. According to Numbeo, the US cost is 70, and Canada 64. So we can modify the GDP figures to reflect this- add 10% to Canada. It would push Canada all the way up to 44th, somewhere around the Kentucky or Oklahoma level.

As a "born in Ontariariarioooo" guy, I have to say that I am petrified. Petrified that Trudeau will stuff things up with his empty leftist rhetoric and knee-jerk platitudes. He has had 9 years in power and managed to nearly impoverish the country. IF Canada were the 51st state, it would rank 50th in per capita GDP, just edging out Mississippi in the race to the bottom. So I actually think Trump woudn't want us.

That's actually pretty funny!

Final Plea: Defense Argues Daniel Penny Acted to Protect
Hanaguma replied to Social Media's topic in World News
A good result, given the swamp that New York has become. Should never have gotten to this point though. There were two failures here- failure of the New York government to get Jordan Neely off the streets and into care/incarceration, and the failure of prosecuting a young man for the crime of protecting women and children from a potentially deadly threat. -
Big surprise, a discussion about Trump's potential cabinet picks devolves into.......... a discussion about Trump himself! Who'd have thought...

Hey, she didn't get pregnant through immaculate conception. By your logic, shouldn't the prospective father ALSO be involved? No pregnancy without his 'input' after all.

Yes, and Canada elected a part-time high school drama teacher because he had a famous last name. ALmost every country does the same to one extent or another. Nothing to do with the pardon though. Just another example of Trump being a master of the real estate game- he is STILL living inside your head, rent-free, going on 8 years now. One problem with the pardon may be... and remember, I am not a lawyer. But now that Hunter has been pardoned, he can be compelled to testify before Congress. His Fifth Amendment protections may not apply because he cannot incriminate himself due to the pardon. So he can be grilled about any payments from foreign entities to various Biden family members, including himself. That may leave a lot of people feeling very uncomfortable...
-
I think a lot of people would have had sympathy for the pardon, IF.... Joe had just said something like, "he's my son and I don't want him to go to jail. Any father would do the same if he had the power". But he tried to put a laughable political spin on it. As if his very own justice department, run by his hand picked Secretary, was somehow out to get Hunter. Then there is the timing and wording. A full decade long free pass, which conveniently covers everything from the day Hunter joined Burisma. IMHO that is the real reason for the pardon. The gun/drug/tax charges are secondary. The potential political corruption and foreign influence peddling are the real issues.

Why do "little people" vote for their executioners?
Hanaguma replied to swissie's topic in Political Soapbox
You must be joking. Right wing fear mongering?!? Who was bleating on and on about Hitler and fascism and no more democracy for the entire election in the US? Then, who suddenly changed their tune and went back to business as usual and "congratulations to President Elect Trump" afterwards? It was all BS, designed purely for the election cycle. -
Trump the convicted felon gets off so why not Bidens son?
Hanaguma replied to advancebooking's topic in Political Soapbox
You are being pedantic, for the purpose of obscuring the larger issue. Let's stipulate that Trump is convicted. Fine. Now, focus on the differences with Hunter Biden. The pardon is for a decade of crime, both tried and not yet tried, both convicted and not yet convicted. This is rather rare- pardons are generally done for a specific crime or incident. It is not merely "getting off", it is a complete rewriting of history. The two situations are really not comparable. -
Ah, it has been a while since I had to write "b-b-but Trump!". It hits on the second post of the discussion. Biden shows his true colours. As recently as November 8, the answer about a pardon was "no". What changed since then... I guess the coast is clear now for Trump to pardon himself?

Denver's nut job mayor to head the resistance.

What happens to the children of regular US citizens who break the law and are sent to prison? They are not the government's responsibility except in dire circumstances.
