  1. I don't get it. The angry protestors are demanding that Tesla owners sell their cars. To whom? OTHER people, who can then be the target of angry protestors? It makes no sense. Or I guess Tesla owners should just "take one for the team" and eat the financial loss. Morons. The protestors, not the Tesla owners.
  2. ...or give sleepless nights to the investors and pension funds that actually own 87% of Tesla shares? Elon won't lose sleep, he could lose 90% of his wealth/share of Tesla and still be rather comfortable on the $30 billion he had left.
  3. I am very awake. Someone NOT awake is the 2024 VP nominee for the Democrats, Tim Walz. He has been cheering the demise of Tesla as well. Sadly, he was unaware that his state employee pension fund holds over a million shares of Tesla stock! He has been dancing while the fund has lost more than $200 million. What a maroon. So those being hurt aren't "small investors". They are pension funds and retirement assets that individual investors have no control over. Oh, and nothing wrong with a boycott. The right did it to Bud Light a couple years ago as I recall. But what is different is the violence used by the anti-Musk folks to intimidate and silence their political opponents. Particularly since Musk was their darling up to about 15 minutes ago.
  4. But the basic reality remains - boycotting Tesla hurts innocent Americans far more than it hurts Musk.
  5. Musk isnt slashing the federal government. He doesnt have that power. DOGE can only make recommendations, which are followed or rejected. The fact that you think he has that power, though, suggests that the ignorant party is someone else... But of course you can disagree with him, no question there. But the FORM of the disagreement is baffling and useless. Injuring innocent Americans, possibly costing them jobs, and committing crimes are not valid criticism.
  6. So screw the millions of Americans who have invested, either directly or indirectly, into Musk Inc? I am sure hard liners would say "divest!" but that is difficult to do when the shares are held by ETFs and holding companies. I won't say anything as to the quality of Tesla cars, I really don't have an opinion on them one way or the other. Not my area of expertise. But the virtue signalling of the mob has little to do with the product or the company and a lot to do with the simplistic, reflexive "MAGA BAD" shibboleth. If Musk had stayed a Democrat and supported Harris in the 2024 election, this would not be happening.
  7. To me, there are some rather funny aspects of the whole "Tesla boycott" saga. First, Tesla is an American company that employs over 120,000 Americans. Second, Musk doesn't own it- his share is less than 13%. The majority of shares are owned by, you guessed it, American fund management companies. So they are not hurting Musk at all, but rather hurting innocent countrymen. And finally, the irony of boycotters going on Musk's social media platform to crow about boycotting Musk's car company. Generating clicks and revenue for him while beating their pigeon chests in rage. It is to laugh.
  8. A number of airlines allow/suggest this. The problem comes when a "passenger of size" does the right thing and buys two seats, but the airline gives one away. Or breaks the two seats up into separate rows... In any case, the best thing to do is make sure the armrest is down at all times. If the POS has raised it before you get to your seat, just put it down again. If they complain, just say "sorry, it is an issue of safety and compliance". Which it is- armrests have to be down for takeoff and landing on every airline I know. If the hefty person persists, call the flight crew and explain to THEM that it is not an issue of comfort but of safety and compliance. But don't let someone claim half your seat.

  11. They are. "Easily fooled" can describe both extremes of the political spectrum. Call it a social experiment to see who jumps, and how high.
  12. Thought I would put in a vote for a girl from the Land of the Rising Sun;
  13. You are right, I stand corrected. I will try to get some help with my unhealthy obsession.
  14. Just trying to bring a brief moment of levity to a forum that seems full of people who take themselves, and their feelings, way to seriously. I thought the article was a great example of how people can be fooled if they read a headline and get all charged up, without actually reading the accompaning article. No worries about the "woke lefty" stuff. I have been called worse, believe me!
  15. Busted.... I am a hateful and dishonest leftist. Oh, and you forgot to mention that Rep Luna's husband was also present when the offer was made.
  16. Untrue. Hegseth served under fire, earned the CIB (Combat Infantryman's Badge), which is only given to those who serve in, to quote his citation, "active ground combat" in battle zones. He also was awarded the Bronze Star with "V" for valour, which again is only awarded for action in combat. He led a rifle platoon. Waltz never got within sniffing distance of gunfire, unless it was on a training field.
  17. The Daily Beast broke this story. Trump, while flying on his private jet, offered his bed to rather attractive young Congresslady Anna Paulina Luna. He also pleaded that she not tell his wife! Could this be the beginning of the end? The walls finally closing in? https://www.thedailybeast.com/dont-tell-melania-trump-once-offered-rising-maga-star-his-bed/?via=twitter_page&utm_medium=socialflow&utm_campaign=owned_social&utm_source=twitter_owned_tdb
  18. ...and it took until the fourth comment for "b-b-but Trump!" to rear its ugly head. Any thoughts on the topic of the discussion perchance?
  19. In the days of the Infobahn, is it reallly necessary to have a government funded radio station?
  20. I believe Tesla is an American company. There is nothing wrong with an American President promoting American products. It is nothing out of the ordinary, and you can easily find myriad examples from past administrations. None of which generated any pushback whatsoever. What makes it interesting is the reflexive howling from the left.
  21. Carney will be crushed in a debate with Polievre. Pierre is sharp and has been honing his skills in Parliament for years. His French is also not nearly as good as either Polievre or Singh.
  22. Doesnt matter. He is out within a week or so- the Liberal Party threw him out and are in the midst of a leadership campaign. So whatever he does or says means nothing. Hopefully we will have an election soon and elect the Conservatives to keep the country running.
  23. Those bases are there at the request of the host countries.
  24. Not at all. Ukraine needs the US. The US doesnt need Ukraine. That is why Zelensky is busy backpedalling, arranging a return visit to Washington, etc. And this time bringing Starmer and Macron for moral support. It is quite remarkable that Europe (population over 500 million) need the help of the US (population 330 million) to deal with Russia (population 130 million). Especially when the Russian economy is about the size of Spain's.
  25. Maybe, maybe not. But the point still stands. Ukraine is the supplicant, the begger. And so needs to be very very careful in how they go about business.
