  1. Can't argue with your logic. Hard to be opposition leader when you aren't in the Commons.
  2. Singh has lost his seat, and has resigned as NDP leader. Polievre is currently behind in his riding, by a substantial margin, and may also lose his seat. Might cost him his job too...
  3. Thanks. IMHO it goes both ways. Hard for one of us to be prosperous without the other. Living next to the US is mostly a benefit, gives us access to the largest consumer market in the world. At the same time, it would be better to diversify our trading partners to create more competition. Also, we are 20 years behind in maximizing the use of our natural resources. It has to stop. And Canadians have to stop being so wishywashy and emotional. Nothing wrong with being aggressive and successful, yet too many of my countrymen suffer from "Tall Poppy Syndrome". And too many reflexively describe their identity as being simply not American.
  4. Not alone, but it was a big factor for sure. I don't know whether it was part of a strategy to help Carney, or just being mouthy and unhelpful. Whatever, the Liberals were able to use it to fear-monger their way to power again. TBH I am not happy with him now...
  5. Sadly Tug my friend, we have neither freedom of choice or freedom of our healthcare. Both are rather heavily regulated. I am just praying that Carney doesnt follow the worst of Trudeau's idiotic policies and pandering. He is definitely more intelligent than Trudeau, hopefully that translates into a more pragmatic way of government.
  6. We can only hope that Carney 2.0 more closely resembles. 2008 Carney than the 2020 version.
  7. Well, crap . Hoping for a different result, but there ya go All I can say is congratulations to PM Carney and let's get to work restoring prosperity and patriotism in Canada.
  8. 56% is a clear majority. And the number goes even higher if you limit it to illegals who commit crimes (other than crossing the border). Still bitter about the election, are you? Must be humiliating to see your candidate and party bested by an "orange moron".
  9. No, the wilds of Aichi. Father in law was a Toyota exec before he retired.
  10. Wife is from Japan, married 33 years. We split our time between Thailand and Japan, probably go full time in Thailand in 2 or 3 years.
  11. You sure about that? The majority cross the border at a place with no port of entry. An illegal act AFAIK. They can apply for refugee status at an American consulate or embassy in Mexico. In any case, Trump is doing what the public wants. Support for deporting ALL illegals is something like 56%. A clear answer from the people.
  12. God forbid. He is a lizard. And he is benefitting from two things- his "honeymoon period" is still not over, and the over-hyping of the 'danger' from the USA. Given time, both would fade away and his fundamental globalist tendencies would be revealed. But to be honest I am worried that people will fall for his shtick of "...but Trump!". Still have a week though...
  13. You seriously think TESLA employees vote Republican?!? That is another magnitude of stupid. Tesla cratering (a company that Musk only owns a 12% stake in) is a result of low information, high emotion idiots who can't think past their next bowel movement. Next thing, you will tell me that Tesla owners deserve to have their property vandalized because THEY are Trump supporters. But if it makes you feel any better, Tesla is still up 60% on where it was a year ago. And 370% over 5 years ago. I wish the stocks I picked could "crater" like that...
  14. Uh, me for one. Don't you give a crap about the 125,000 Americans who work for the company? Or the pension funds invested in it? Probably not. More important to virtue signal and "get" Musk by targeting a company that he doesn't own.
  15. Gangs use symbols and codes to communicate. The tats that this guy have are crystal clear, and are real. If he WEREN'T a member of the gang and got the tats, the actual gang members would kill him. Much like Hell's Angels bikers get a bit upset when non-members wear their colors or symbols. He is a citizen of El Salvador and is now in his home country. The reason for the non-return order is gone. The gang he asserted was going to harm him is no more, thanks to Bukele.
  16. Just gave it a quick read. The writer makes a valid point regarding the minutae of the procedures. TBH, I would be sceptical if there were any big contacts between Maduro and the gangs. As the report says, there are low level collaboration but it is hard to determine anything above that level. But in the end, so what? A procedure that facilitates removing violent gang members from the US is preferable to the alternative. Being gang members is just the icing on the cake- if they are illegal, they go.
  17. Since the article is behind a paywall, perhaps you could summarize; a/ what is the president's rationale b/ how is it undercut Thanx!
  18. Perhaps yes, great dogs IF raised properly. IF. But, especially in Thailand, how many ARE raised properly? Raised to be comfortable around people, not to react to stimuli, etc. And how many are literally ticking time bombs, ready to explode at any moment of stress or frustration? Again, the training isnt the problem. The potential for death/injury of innocent people IS. At least require owners to have licensing and liability insurance.
  19. The biggest tragedy will be that an "ethnic" person who is NOT a diversity hire, but rather is hired on their merits, will be taken as one.
  20. Perhaps, perhaps not. But some breeds ARE more dangerous, due to their size and strength. There is a reason they are called "pit" bulls- they are bred to fight in pits. Not too many people are killed by vicious chiuahuas biting them to the bone.
  21. THis "Maryland man" was also accused of being a wife beater. His wife had TWO protection orders sworn against him. So yes, El Salvador can keep this productive member of society for themselves.
  22. Rachel Morin was a "Maryland woman". A "Maryland woman" who was brutally assaulted, murdered, and left in a sewage pipe by a "Maryland man". An illegal migrant from El Salvador. Who should have been NOT in the country but for the previous administration's weakness. Now, consider how much attention the media is paying to ANOTHER "Maryland man" these days. Al illegal migrant from El Salvador. Who was deported BEFORE he could victimize another woman (he already victimized his wife twice). The Morin case is a warning of the future in which "Maryland men" are allowed to stay in America.
  23. It is actually rather kind of the El Salvadorean president to keep him. I wouldn't blame him if he said, "hell yeah, you want the gang banger back? He's all yours, I will have him on a plane tomorrow!"
  24. This is true. He should have stuck to his original plan and bowed out after one term. Would have given the Democrats time to build up a better candidate than the one they were stuck with. But his hubris got in the way.
