It took a few days, but it seems that he has either come to the right conclusion or taken some good advice from smart people around him. Pres Zelensky is now rather contrite, and willing to sign the deal he originally rejected last week. To quote in part from his authentic Twitter account: Our meeting in Washington, at the White House on Friday, did not go the way it was supposed to be. It is regrettable that it happened this way. It is time to make things right. We would like future cooperation and communication to be constructive. Regarding the agreement on minerals and security, Ukraine is ready to sign it in any time and in any convenient format. We see this agreement as a step toward greater security and solid security guarantees, and I truly hope it will work effectively.

Yes, he has. And, he ALSO has to consider what is more important to him, his 'solidarity sweatshirt' or getting a deal to stop the war in his country. It appears that he chose the former.

Behind and to the left of Zelensky. Generally when a leader who is not fluent in English visits, they have an interpreter present. Often Trump will also have one behind HIM, behind and to the right, just to have clarity. THey are genenrally kept out of frame when the leaders are photographed or filmed, but they do attend. You can see in this photo a young man behind Zelensky , and an unused chair behind Trump.
-
Some did, but the vast majority of lefties on here refused to believe. I think I was the only person here bold enough to predict that Trump would win all 7 battleground states.
-
Zelinsky was arrogant enough to not go through his interpreter when discussing very sensitive and serious topics. His English is quite good, more than adequate for casual discussions. But getting into a back-and-forth in a second language in such a setting was foolish. You only need to see the reaction of the Ukranian ambassador to the US to get a hint as to how things went...

Still deflecting madly I see. If you want to start a discussion about Musk's fashion sense, be my guest. But it bears no relevance here. Musk is not a national leader. He was not invited to a formal meeting with the President in the Oval Office. And, most importantly, he is not begging for billions of dollars. Zelinsky is ALL of those things. And his choice of attire said a lot about his attitude. And that attitude was on display in the meeting. He is arrogant enough to contradict and argue with the President of the United States, in front of the world press, in the President's Oval Office. Now, that may be good for Zelinsky's fanboys but it is NOT good for his country.

Wow, such a mind reader you have become. If you are actually curious, you could check my posting history pre US election. Trump was not my choice to lead the GOP. But he is also better than Harris. Ukraine is already AT "the dogs". Europe does not have the financial or military capacity to help in any material way. The numbers aren't there. Plus, Europe is funding the war for Russia, buy spending billions buying Russian energy. Now, if they REALLY wanted to make a statement, they would boycott ALL Russian stuff, including gas and oil.
-
Lovely deflection. Good to see you are still deeply immersed in the fever dreams of those with "The Syndrome". How about getting on board and hoping for peace?
-
So, good for Zelensky, he won the battle of memes, eh? The only problem is, he 'won' at the expense of his country and his people. He values his pride over his duty. And, you really think Europe can step up to the plate without the backing of Uncle Sugar? They are great at talking and sending memos, but not so good at paying the bills.

First, Churchill was entitled to wear a uniform. He was a veteran. Second, Zelensky is not wearing a uniform. He is not a veteran. Third, Zelensky is just cosplaying at being a soldier. Fourth, Zelensky is the supplicant in the situation. He needs to walk small and talk smaller.
-
Uh, yeah, I know. That has been discussed. It merely proves that Z can, IF he wants to, dress appropriately to meet important people. Especially people that he is begging from.
-
To repeat... yes, Churchill wore a siren suit at times during the war. But he didnt wear it when meeting Stalin or Roosevelt in formal settings, did he? He was couth enough to dress for the occasion.
-
...and if the price of straightening out Trump and Vance is more war and more Ukranians dying, so what. At least Zelensky could look tough for his fanboys in Europe. NOT a great attitude for the leader of a country desperate for assistance.
-
Nice deflection attempt. Arabs wearing traditional, cultural garb is nothing like the faux warrior chic affectation that Zelensky presents. Next you will be bringing up PM Mohdi of India when he wears a Modi Kurta... And Trump to my knowledge never wears a ball cap when meeting world leaders in formal settings.
-
...so to you, the appropriate response by Zelensky was to fight with his host in front of the media, in his host's office? In what universe would that have any positive effect? Might be good for the feels, and make him look like a tough guy in front of his Euro friends, but would be a disaster for his country. Good to see at least that Zelensky has made his priorities so apparent.
-
That old chestnut.
-
Wow, it's been a long time since I saw "b-b-but Trump!" here. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I know enough about international negotiations that you do NOT ever negotiate in front of the press. An agreement he could have signed in Munich more than a week ago. Grandstanding in front of the press while trying to get money from your donor is foolish. Zelensky is not the man in charge. He wants something from the US. Fine. Act like it. Say, "we have an agreement, thank you for your generosity, we will have a strong partnership going forward, what's for lunch?". He is far too cocky for someone in his desperate position.

1. dressing disrespectfully 2. not referring to the VP by his title 3. raising his voice in the Oval Office 4. refusing to sign the mining agreement without a trip to Washington 5. talking over the President 6. possibly costing his country a great agreement 7. letting his ego get in the way of doing business Basically, Zelensky cannot both go hat in hand to beg the USA for support and also be arrogant.

Really? I am honestly a bit stunned at your oversimplification. Churchill dressed as the situation demanded. Zelinsky does not. Constantly uploading a picture of Churchill wearing something other than a formal suit is actually rather funny. Not to mention the constant harping on Putin, who is not the subject of the discussion at all. Yet he, like Trump, seems to occupy a large part of the space between your ears.
-
Ah yes, the ad hom attack yet again, in the absence of substance. Comparing Z to Churchill is wonderfully ridiculous. Unlike Churchill, who actually dressed suitably for important meetings.
-
'Leadership in crisis' would involve signing the damn deal that would help his country. NOT getting into public arguments with his most important benefactor. Shows he values pride and image over substance.
-
Why? Because the media narrative as usual got the situation wrong. And I am tiring of his arrogance and sense of entitlement. It would have taken so little for Zelensky, as the supplicant, to win the day for his country. But his pride got in the way. And his cosplay act is getting tiring. As for the tired old 'bone spurs' dig, we can rehash all the previous politicians who dodged service in Vietnam if you wish. But to what purpose? The only actual military veteran in the conversation was JD Vance.
-
Ah yes. The ad hom attack in place of any useful reply. Not surprising.
