  1. So is Tommy on the list too? If not, why is this relevant?
  2. It can be horrible in most areas, although Chiang Mai and the north does seem to be affected very badly. Just one important concern to factor in when deciding to live here, along with road accidents.
  3. Absolutely. It's similar to a fine for not wearing a helmet on a motorbike.
  4. Fortunately I've never had to wear one, but my son hated his and his pleased that now he can wear PE kit and just the scout scarf.
  5. Yes there is, but most of it is regulated. Yes, as a place to find girls, boys and in-between. No, the article is about arresting prostitutes soliciting on Beach Road. It's nothing new and happens regularly. Maybe, but it's happened in high season too/
  6. Nice not to have to buy or wear scouts uniform any more. Thick uncomfortable material with a ridiculous belt and silly hat!
  7. I did this recently (April) - a compact rented from Alamo at Gatwick for around 13 days. A Ford Kuga SUV. Cost around £700 including the insurance. Lovely drive.
  8. I don't disagree. Glad I left (when it was still Rhodesia), but it's called Zimbabwe now.
  9. No one is trying to convince anyone that. Prostitution exists throughout Thailand, mostly for Thai people, and is regulated and controlled. This action is purely about prostitutes openly soliciting on Beach Road. "Clamping down on prostitution" is just a good headline. Anyone who has lived here knows that Beach Road hookers are regularly "clamped down on", it's nothing new.
  10. Not at all, don't panic. Most of the "lady bars" operate legally, as do most of the massage shops and gogos. This action was purely about prostitutes promiscuously and openly soliciting for business on Beach Road.
  11. No they don't, nor have they ever said that. 🙄
  12. Eh? I drive a petrol vehicle if you must know, but quite what that has to do with Donald Trump I have no idea!
  13. Contempt of Court is illegal. The content is immaterial. Looks like he might be returning to jail soon 🤔
  14. Absolutely. Fortunately there's time before the next election for the nation to come to its senses!
  15. From what I've found, Nissan's recent restructuring seems to have secured its future, in Asia anyway.
  16. Thanks guys, this is helpful. I guess my final question is whether I should just buy a petrol vehicle after all? As I understand it, there is no likelihood of a ban on petrol vehicles in the future (even the UK seem to be backtracking on this), so other than being an environmentally-concerned person, I could save money (I'm a poor teacher!) and just buy a 'regular' car?
  17. Good question. Looking forward to the answers. Is the Kicks e-power concept any different to other hybrids (I don't know what a PHEV is)? (Written before I saw @KhunLA's reply)
  18. Nothing new here. Let's face it, prostitutes openly soliciting on Beach Road does not look good. When it's so easy to find a prostitute working legally in a bar or gogo, or soliciting illegally, but more discreetly, surely cleaning up the image of Beach Road is no bad thing. Of course, it won't work as the fines are minimal and usually instant, so they are hardly a deterrent!
  19. Everything! I try to get rid of geckos 'humanely' although I don't think they like being sprayed.
  20. What an embarrassment to the world Trump is.
