Yes and I think irrespective of what they are referring it as, both the July 31 and Sep 26 deadlines are the same in effect. Someone who has not yet used their 60 day stay or is going for a 1-year stay should be able to do this anytime between now and Sep 26. That's the whole point - to declare an end date for all this, allowing everyone to get back in status. After Sep 26, barring any unforeseen circumstances, special extensions will only be granted in person, with the right documentation, for 30 days at a time and probably for a fee.

    dream on

I dunno the current post on the website is no extension letters, and get a long term visa by July 31 or get out. Or do you mean we have nothing to worry about being notified about the final policy decision? Coz the current message is very worrying. :  P

I don’t think that there is any chance that they will NOT give us at least 2 weeks grace period to leave the country (after 31 of July).

In my personal opinion, and it is just that, those on tourist visas will have to leave, but there will possibly/probably be a period of grace to allow them to do so (mass departures at them end of July are not really practical); those of us on Non Immigrant O Multiple Entry Visas will be allowed further extensions, until such times as the land borders reopen, but we will of course have to pay. That seems a sensible arrangement, which will solve many problems on both sides of the Immigration Office counter.

Of course it won't satisfy those on here who are slavering at the chops at the thought of those deemed less worthy being banged up and deported; but never mind, they can continue to posture on the moral high ground...

Are you on Non Immigrant O Multiple Entry Visa? Don’t ask me how I know this.

It would not be prudent for any Country to open up to all but Countries with zero Community spread. Therefore being realistical no nation can really look at relaxing Borders until 2021.

Yes Jobs will be lost in recession but the cost to the loss of Populations and the overwhelming of your Health Systems is the alternative.

Either way a massive financial Blow to your Economy

Sweden has proved there is no Herd Immunity and their Economy has contracted regardless

Why until 2021? Does the miracle of Christmas have to do something with it? Why not until 2025? Or 2050?

How many of the people asked were actually involved in the tourism industry?

    Let me guess...less than half

What this survey DOES show is that almost 50% of the Thais are dependent on tourism in some way or another and want the tourists back with all the health risks involved. Those are huge numbers to be ignored.

For this question 23.1% strongly agreed with letting them in, 21.58% quite agreed, 13.91% said they were not sure if it was safe to do that and 41.41% said "no" to the idea fearing a second wave of infections.

I cannot believe how naive some people on TV are... do they really think that the virus will go away and then Thailand can open again ? Look at countries like Sweden and Belarus who did not lock down at all .... has their entire population died out ??? No, they have around the same mortality rates as every other country. This is a virus - you cannot close the door on it !

In the meantime, millions of poor Thai people are really suffering. Hospitality jobs have never been the best paid, but they give a living. Can you imagine the shame coming from having to queue in a food bank line, or sit outside Western Union for the 5000 Baht.

Do people expect Thailand to be shut forever ???? When it opens again - guess what, we will have to get the immunity that every other country it getting right now. Only when we do.... there will be 25% of the hotels and restaurants left and millions will have suffered.

What a complete waste of time. Open now and get on with life !

The ridiculous thing is it is those rich and sure about their future hi-so Bangkok doctors telling the unemployed and hungry ones that it will be better for them without tourists (and jobs, and money) - for at least six more months.
