In the past one could go to Laos or Cambodia and to get another tourist visa. This is something that will be impossible in the August. Meaning the only option left will be to leave the place.

Please explain your reasoning behind your thought process on this. If what you say would ever happen, this country would be crippled tremendously, as if it has not already been crippled economically.
I am only talking about those on tourist visas and exempt stamps.

With the number of tourists down to historical minimum - would it be a wise decisions to wipe out the remaining ones?

Let’s imagine there will be no new infected cases in TH in June and July. But the country, almost certainly, will still remain locked for the outside visitors. The government will not prolong a visa waiver (why should they?) and those of us on tourist visas and exempt stamps will have to leave the country without any option to prolong our legal stay here. This is the most likely scenario, in my opinion. Any alternative thoughts or the mass exodus in August is inevitable?

Since Thailand did not get a herd immunity - it might stay closed forever.

Why don't you just give her the 5k/month....she's your GF.
I suppose he gives her 50k a month. But she is still starving so all the hopes are on those 5k handouts.

She tried to sell him “love” for 400 k dollars and had just to pay 200 k baht to guarantee the deal. Why do these brainless greedy chicks think they are smarter than old and wealthy foreigners? There must be some reasons for that.

Just 2 months ago my Pattaya ‘girlfriend’ copy pasted me exactly the same story from her Line. She was hesitating about how to react. But she has already provided the man she has never met in her life with her full name, postal address and other personal details. Then I told her to inform the man that she will not receive any parcels or packages in her name. That was enough for the millionaire- lover to disappear forever.
These girls are greedy and stupid. An ideal type for all kind of the con masters.

"Shoppers can expect thermometer screening at both the entrance to malls AND every individual store".
What's the point?

I am afraid the local authorities will use this 2-3 years pause as an opportunity to put an end to the Pattaya nightlife the way it existed for the last 50 years. While the opposite (the help of the government) could be necessary for the real recovery. There still will be sex life in Pattaya. But it will lose all its Thai charm and style and will be more similar to Prague and Amsterdam (boring and expensive). These tendencies could already be seen long before Covid.

Lots of people still assume that life will be back to normal as soon as the lockdown is lifted. In such a case why would they give a big discount for a long term contract? When there will come an understanding of the real situation - then we might see some substantial discounts. Not yet.

The guaranteed salary for a bar girl is about 3 500-4 500 baht per month. The rest they have to sell their bodies for. Nevermind, you wouldn´t understand anyway.
The life of the average bargirl is unmeasurably more fun (and easy money) than the life of the average factory worker in Thailand. And this is the main reason they choose this path and not the old and idiotic myth about being forced to do something they actually hate.

Funny thing is many of them wait for a signal to come back to their bars. It will take time for them to accept the new reality and to start looking for new jobs.

What's wrong with the nightlife in Bangkok?Ohh! It´s sleazy and it spreads other diseases than Coronavirus. It´s also a morally seen life of decay. Mostly the women are forced into this business to be able to support their families because of poor education. In other words most of them do not want. In the world with open eyes, that it called rape. They are just to depending of it to be able to say no. If that is not forced sex, what is it then?
You definitely live in the parallel reality.

This will be the first time in history when people with traditional (borderline medieval) mentality will get a Nobel prize in science. In other words - this will never happen.

Guys like Villagefarang not need pay for freind/wife. He not start thread about he can make freind.
That the point of what i say.
Also I not want to be freind with people who lie about themself. Eg. Someone who claim they speak Thai. And they can not. Obvious.
If you want to have a lot of freind same me and Villagefarang you must not lie about yourself. Better just be yourself.
can not buy love, can not buy freind same.
Good luck, everyone, listen to Yinn advice, can have many freind! Same Yinn!
No money no honey. This is an ancient Thai proverb. What you say is against the Thai reality and culture. Stop lying and get friends? What about the "face concept" which is nothing but lying about yourself at whatever cost? I suspect you are just another farang trolling at this forum. You don't sound like a true Thai person to me.

I've never found any Thais worth making friends with, no point in learning Thai, it just wasted my time.
A greedy, superficial and poorly educated bunch, even the degree holders would have had problems graduating high school in the west.
Sure, spend 5 years learning Thai so you can speak with a prudish (newly unemployed) hotel receptionist who thinks a 'hello kitty' themed bedroom, piled high with soft toys, and posting photos of her dinner on Facebook are the height of sophistication.
You are spot on, again. Important to remember that Thai language has nothing in common with the European languages and one can learn 5 European languages (like French, German etc) with the same amount of time and effort he can learn some basic Thai.

The OP about have no friends.
I advice, 1) speak Thai 2) not marry sex worker 3) not complain all the time (we are the land of smile, fun, our culture)
Some guys will be sensitive I say that. But is true. I give example of @villagefarang Very happy positive guy. 1,2,3 easy.
Thai man can be friend if you good guy.
Not troll, no personal insult. Just say true.
Maybe some not like hear about true.
Can improve your life, be happy. We live short time, then be dust forever. Up to you. Freind is good for your life. Fun, happy, enjoy, dance, sing.
Irony. I advice not complain (3). And 3 guys then complain about me. Advice learn thai (1) and tell me all thai should learn English.
Good luck with find freinds.
love you
Yinn

Is it too much to speculate that she was a prostitute before being salvaged?
Just sayin..
A good and classic example of a Thai gratitude. A total lack of it, to be more precise. Poor Swedish guy who probably still loves her and is looking forward to see her.

I will definitely travel as soon as the borders are open, and the paperwork is manageable.
And don't worry, I will not block your ventilator, you can have it, I refuse to die that way anyway.Let us all know when you arrive. 3 years from now sounds quite realistic.

What’s next for (some of) us?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

It MAY be impossible. The fact is - it’s impossible at the moment. Something will have to change on both sides of the border to make that option available again.
