  1. What a frigging self made mess. If insurance companies don't pay for Green cases then the insurance is useless and that should have been identified before regulations for sandbox or test and go were ever implemented.
  2. Damn, this is what I was worried about, getting seriously ****** off now Phuket Communicable Disease Committee has decided to close all schools and to teach online instead from 4-14 January in order to prevent new clusters. This follows the news of 184 Covid-19 cases in one day https://twitter.com/ThaiNewsReports/status/1478202920382328832 https://mgronline.com/south/detail/9650000000682 Yet bars/restaurants and other venues can carry on as normal, the main culprits for clusters!
  3. LOL or it could be the other way round, the announcement was made in Thai and the translated article did not pick up the finer details
  4. What they did not make clear is that a rapid test identifies a covid infection but cannot distinguish which variant it is. To discover the variant a PCR test can identify the Omicron variant via a drop out S gene, although a full sequence confirms it.
  5. Thailand's strategy of incarcerating most of those who get infected seems to be paying dividends in keeping the numbers down, who on earth wants to report a positive test if its mild symptoms or none at all, only to be then locked up for 2 weeks, especially a foreigner who has the pleasure to pay a premium for it. That and the sheer lack of official testing of course.
  6. just updated for what its worth..................... https://ddc.moph.go.th/covid19-dashboard/
  7. PCR test positive cases, total of 3,091 official new infections. 12 official covid deaths recorded. Rapid tests dashboard not been updated yet for today https://ddc.moph.go.th/covid19-dashboard/
  8. and another one just popped up.....lol Anna McEvoy reveals Covid holiday nightmare in Thailand as she tests positive to the virus but her boyfriend is negative - causing 'panic and confusion' for the couple Love Island winner Anna McEvoy has revealed her Covid holiday nightmare after she tested positive for coronavirus in Thailand - but her boyfriend tested negative. The reality star took to Instagram on Monday to reveal a dream trip to the popular tourist destination has become one led by 'panic and confusion' Michael initially tested positive for Covid only for authorities to then email him saying he is 'negative,' meaning he is subject to different rules to Anna. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-10363345/Anna-McEvoy-reveals-covid-holiday-nightmare-Thailand.html
  9. Apparently being left to individual Provinces on school closures. Expect panicky trigger happy Governors doing their thing; Thai News Reports: According to instructions released by the Ministry of Education, schools are allowed to switch to online learning if they believe there is a risk of the spreading of Covid-19 after the new year holiday #Thailand https://twitter.com/ThaiNewsReports/status/1477969181215653890
  10. Indeed the other factor was previous infections which while not stopping them get the virus did help in reducing serious illness and death
  11. Just for a possible comparison on what it may be like here in Thailand, here's a balanced and honest update on the state of the NHS hospitals and care homes by there CEO, some positive news and indications that they will pull through this without further restrictions but extreme pressure still on with rising cases and lots of staff absences due to Omicron which makes existing staff have to work even harder. Here is his summary after a 25 thread long tweet, lots of good information on there well worth reading the full string of tweets from today 3rd Jan "SUMMARY Rest of country now under pressure. Some trusts declaring critical incidents to manage staff absences. Recent London data, fact that London/NHS currently "coping" & absence of large nos. of seriously ill offer grounds for optimism. But future still uncertain. 25/25" https://twitter.com/ChrisCEOHopson/status/1477941212648808451
  12. Well just now took the ATK test for my daughter and sent the results to school for their opening on Wed. Now keeping fingers crossed it will stay open for the term.
  13. Sure but as you say, thats not the case now by any means, infact it has a very robust death classification now, with those examples as you mentioned now never happening.
  14. I wouldn't bother with him, obviously an anti vaxxer, one of those who are filling up the hospitals and dying.........
  15. Omicron cases surge in Thailand during New Year break The number of Omicron cases in Thailand passed the 1,000 mark on New Year’s Day as expected, the Department of Medical Sciences said on Sunday. The department’s director-general Dr Supakit Sirilak said that from November 1 to January 1, the number of Omicron cases in Thailand stood at 1,551, 779 of whom are foreigners. Supakit added that the top five provinces with the highest Omicron cases are Bangkok (395), Kalasin (195), Chonburi (148), Phuket (125) and Roi Et (119). https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/40010709
  16. Anutin, the Minister of Public Health, said he will propose to the CCSA to extend the suspension of the Test & Go program to 31st January due to the worldwide increase in Omicron. In addition, he proposes a 10th January deadline for Test & Go travellers to arrive in Thailand. https://twitter.com/ThaiNewsReports/status/1477875518535917569
  17. So the deaths in SA and UK are not related to Omicron, stop this nonsense misinformation
  18. Your study dated Sept 2021 - Omicron Dated Nov 2021 Omicron has changed immunity protection in both vaccines and previous infection-----------Fact. Keep that clock handy I'm happy to get back to you.
  19. The common cold does not kill or put you on a ventilator or leave long lasting symptoms. Covid can and does.
  20. Probably one of the most nonsensical statements ever made by officials. Omicron is not and never can be under control until it burns itself out and infected all it can.
  21. The vaccines were designed for the original strain, despite that they are still doing a great job at stopping serious illness and death which is important. All credit to them.
