  1. So can you quote the law, with reference, which says you are required to carry your original passport? The reason i ask is, as you can see there is much confusion of the matter, maybe you can clear it up?
  2. It doesn't say they extorted money! But its not going to is it? However common sense and having been in Thailand 25 years, tells me its certainly a possibility? Some countries, as you say, you are required to carry ID. Have you been to the UK, or USA where you are not required by law to carry ID. In those countries, if you are a foreigner they can check your fingerprints with a portable scanner. Having said that most folks in the USA carry ID as they drive cars. Certainly agree with your comment about the quality of reporting.
  3. I take your point. Tourist police usually will help if you have a problem with say being overcharged in a bar, or something like that. However I think its very unlikely the tourist police will intervene with the immigration police. They are all police and generally will stick together?
  4. Whilst I agree when going to a foreign country you should follow their laws etc, however the problem in Thailand is the laws that the police follow are inconsistent. Some say you need your original document, some say a photo copy is OK, some say a picture on your phone is fine? If the police were serious about this they would have portable fingerprint scanners, like other counties, instead of taking people to the police station to extort money?
  5. Shouldn't have all this been thought thru thoroughly before they decriminalized it?????
  6. Maybe that what Xi thinks of Prayut and therefore did not shake his hand?
  7. Even the Germans, who historically are 'mad' about it are staying away! https://www.yahoo.com/news/soccer-mad-germans-turning-backs-140958680.html
  8. Totally agree. I suspect trying to get hot dogs and beer (especially) in the soccer stadium in Qatar, is going to be quite difficult?????
  9. Maybe they know something we don't?????
  10. Having lived in Singapore I know it has legal prostitution and illegal prostitution. Go to Orchard Towers, for example, and you will see the illegal side of it.
  11. You are correct. But soccer/football in the UK is much the same I suspect, certainly in the Premier League? How much do these guys get paid?
  12. Correct he has spent a long time in Qatar this year, making friends? And getting rich I suspect. Even the Guardian called his speech a diatribe.???? https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/nov/19/fifa-gianni-infantino-world-cup-qatar
  13. Correct, when the Chinese come back, the police will have their hands full with illegal gamblers, its bad enough now if you have been following the news?
  14. Correct, plus they were young women, I would guess 21/22? The fact is many young women, from Philippines do work in Singapore illegally in bars etc
  15. From what i could make out the IO in Changi was asking what they would be doing in Singapore, the women said holiday. The IO was convinced they would be working (illegally) in a club or bar, thats why they were taken to the office. They didn't have much money and could not provide an address were they would be staying. No different really to many of the stories we hear about tourists trying to enter Thailand?
  16. Generally they are adult women, over the age of 18. I know for a fact that Filipina women do in some cases have a difficult time entering Singapore, cos i have actually seen it. There were 2 Filipina women in front of me at immigration in Changi Airport, they were getting grilled by the IO, in the end the had to go to the office, dont know what happened. Immigration might be a lot things, but I dont think they are fascists?
  17. Is this problem only because she will be traveling to Thailand? I mean if for example she was traveling to Singapore, would she still have the same problem?
  18. Budweiser is not the most flavorful beer even with alcohol, can you imagine what is tastes like withe zero alcohol?
  19. Totally agree. You have the World Cup in a muslim country what did they (FIFA) expect?
  20. He went to the police cos his watch was stolen, I think? But who knows?
  21. Got to give the Indian credit for having the balls to report his mistake? Maybe if it wasn't for the watch going missing he wouldn't have?????
