"The film-makers planted dozens of coconut trees to give a more “tropical” feel to Maya Bay and were accused of ripping up vegetation growing on sand dunes. However, the US production studio 20th Century Fox insisted it left the beach exactly as it had found it and that it had removed tonnes of rubbish." https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/sep/13/thai-court-orders-repair-of-the-beach-location-maya-bay-ko-phi-phi-leh-22-years-after-filming 20th Century Fox should tell Thailand to to go take a hike!

I suspect when he was taken to the police station, he was threatened with some charges, or maybe jail time, who knows? Nobody wants to go and sit in a Thai jail! If he was a first time tourist it would not be difficult to scare the <deleted> out of him? He was given a very expensive way out, with no jail time, which he obviously took. Negotiations in Thai between the "victim" and the BIB must have taken place to come up with the extortionate amount of 200,000 baht?
-
Quite right! Considering no details are forthcoming, only he touched her inappropriately, it does raise the question what exactly did take place? Whatever, the princely amount of 200,000 baht is an absolute outrage and one can only assume the "villain" must have been coerced into agreeing to this amount or terrible things will happen? We will never know? Normally any CCTV footage is published, but not in this case, which raises more questions? Another oddity is that it seems this "villain" was apprehended in short order after the CCTV footage was obtained, was this just good luck on the BIB's part? Conclusion, very fishy, but certainly a good pay day for the dance teacher and the BIB, who jointly lifted a large sum from the Indian gentleman.! Am now waiting for a similar situation to happen again as obviously other people will catch on!????

Agree with your sentiment, but I think the set up is between the "victim" and the BIB? We still don't have details of what he did, just he inappropriately touched her, which could mean anything? The Indian guy definitely is in the wrong here and admits he was drunk, which is no excuse, but 200, 000 baht, com'n man they saw this guy coming and he still gets charged?
-
Got to agree there is something fishy about this. Not that the woman deserved to be molested or even touched. But when she reported it was some deal made with BIB? maybe a 50/50 share? 200,000 baht is extortionate, and he still gets charged.???? The norm for ladyboys assaulting foreigners is a 500 baht fine.

I take your point, but in general i would have to disagree with your comment "Thai women are no different to American ones" American women in general, there are exceptions, are self assured, confident, ready to defend themselves, verbally and physically. They believe men and women are equal, sometimes better than men. I could go on but you get the picture. Thai women, unless they have lived in the USA for some time, are not so? They are more feminine, more friendly, in general of course. IMO they have a much better attitude. I would much rather work in an office full of Thai women then American women.

Brit 'dumped' in Thailand after his flight home is cancelled
mikeymike100 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I have flown Scoot many times from Thailand to Jakarta, via Singapore. They once cancelled my flight whilst I was in transit in Singapore and vice versa, they put me on the next available flight. If they cancel it they will put you on another flight, but this guy booked thru a third party, that may well be the problem? -
You are comparing apples to oranges. In my home, the USA they have strip clubs, but customers cannot touch the women unless placing money in their bikini, in go go bars in Pattaya, you are actively encouraged to play with the women. Is is legal? If the same thing had happened in my home town I would expect the perp would have at best mace in his eyes, worst a bullet between his eyes.
