  2. Hope they don't pull an Epstein.  Found hanging by his bed sheets while the guards were slipped a mickey and the CCV camera suddenly malfunctioning, wait!  Why would Joe have bed sheets in his hot cell?  Guards looking at each other "did you give him bed sheets?  No, I thought you did.  Maybe the other shift, no need to ask.  I just found an envelope...".  RTP problem solved.

  3. Wait, wait, wait,

Can the Governor override the government?  The government edict opening on Sept 1st does not allow schools to open up in deep red zones, not on the list of what can open.  What's going on here?

My son is in his 1st year of college at KMUTT and has been online at home here in Chiang Mai since no idiot would open a deep red zone to schooling without vaccinations and some advance notice.  Now we have to get him to BKK ASAP?  Gotta call the school.

To feed the growing populations in some countries in the developing World while using the narrative that meat is somehow cruel, even if animals themselves eat each other.

The much needed population controls and reductions, are unpalatable for some to acknowledge.

Unfortunately reality is that not everyone in the World can enjoy a high standard of living which includes eating quality meat, driving motor vehicles or any other activity that damages the environment.

In Chiang Mai one should register with the "Wall of Chiang Mai" after registering on ExpatVac site ...

         https://wallofcm.chiangmaihealth.go.th/

Why?  I have no idea, but most people with appt's here registered on both sites.  Makes getting vaccinated confusing as h*ll.

Registered a long time ago on WoCM, checked the site every day for weeks.  Checked it 4 days ago still said your vaccine not available, skipped a day checking, then check the next day about 8pm.  My shot was at 10am that day.  No phone text or e-mail as promised.  Luckily I had also jumped on the Medpark bandwagon despite a 3 day round trip drive for the 1st Pfizer shot, leaving in about 6 days for the 2nd one.  Have a Moderna set up for Oct and then may get a J&J in late Jan when back in the US.  That should about cover it.

@mtls2005 Another thing, not sure if any meaning behind it, but upon arrival they asked me how old i was, and i am just over 40, her reply was something along the lines of yes over 40 can have Pfizer.

Make of it what you will.

Also just to put some at ease, everyone waits for 30 mins after the shot in a big hall, in that time i did not see anyone feeling sick or asking for any help or having any signs of anything.

Well organized, English spoken, friendly, of course a number of "gentleman" felt the need to bring their skirt with them and even talk to the nurses for them. no idea why when all nurses spoke clear English.

I wonder if they need a skirt to go to 7-11 with them as well

Not me man, I'm due for my second Pfizer shot in about a week with a 3 day round trip drive to get it.  Trying to get the wife to stay home this time as I know how everything works but might need a 4th day in case I feel "faint" after being poked the wrong way by the nurse ????

I took an Infra Red engineering class at UCSB while stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base uip the coast!   I understand the trivial math thing.  Some of my jobs have not required much, but most I really have had to use my Trig, and Algebra and Data processing, Least Squares, MATLAB scripts to analyze test data, quite a bit of Inertial Navigation and GPS releated stuff,  etc.  It does not take long to get rusty and no longer fluent.

My BS was from University of Rhode Island, MS from University of Mass at Lowell.  I have lived and worked and been stationed in So Cal for over 20 years since 1982, in and out of the state.  Last stint was 5 years in Rancho Bernardo, CA jus north of San Diego ending in 2019 when I "retired" from Northrop.

Northrop was my last employer (left in '92) a windowless building on the property now occupied by SpaceX  ????

Hi everyone.  New (ish) to this forum, but lived in Thailand for a number of years, just outside the City of Pattaya.  My uninformed take is that it will never return to what it was pre covid. Yes, some things will re open, some bars and some of the ex shop owners will re appear, but by no means all.  Some of the ladies presently plying their trade online will continue to do so and not return to the old bar scene, or indeed the FL way of making a living, online is too easy for them. Number of restaurants will be half what it was and investment in new hotels and condos wills stop for many years.  From my selfish point of view, that makes it a much better prospect for the future and as nicer place to live.  As I say, largely uninformed, apart from talking to some locals about how they see it.

Fair, levelheaded response,  I agree.  A deal killer for most tourists is the COE (kinda bitch to get) and the 2 weeks of quarantine if still around.

This is exactly the type of part time work I was hoping to do when I retire to Thailand, which I was hoping to do last December!  COVID nuttiness slowed that down.  I have a BS in engineering and a MS in Math. I did teach in college Alegebra, Pre Calc, and Calculus to the undergraduates while earning my Masters, so I am still very much aware of some of the sticky points people and I had learning these topics.  I still work in the aerospace industry doing technical work so I would be more than capable of handling the task.  I like to keep my brain active and doing some tutoring seemed like a good thing I could do in Thailand.  I have no desire to deal with a Thai school, work 30 or 40 days a week, have to dress up with a shirt and tie, etc.   The COVID policies are keeping me from traveling to Thailand at the moment and delaying my retirement.  Otherwise I would have jumped on the opportunity to help, make a little eating money, etc.  However, there is a possibility I will punch out and head there next month, as my next engineering contract, lucrative as it is, will not start until late October.   I may just decide to screw it, punch out and head to the LOS.  I don't need to work and take the job as I am fully  good financial wise.  But one never knows exactly how much they will need or what may happen so I was considering on working annother 1/2 year or so while waiting out COVID.

Good luck in the meantime and I hope some other posters with a science and technical background can help.

Thanks for the quick response.  Have degrees is Chem, Med Tech, and Chem Eng (this last one from UCSB) myself but have owned a business for the last 25 years that requires trivial math skills (use it or lose it, why I need a tutor).  Did the aerospace shuffle in the 80's between 4 companies living in Long Beach, CA.  Have had a couple of other offers for tutoring but let me know when you get to Thailand and best of luck with getting over here!

  10. Looking for a tutor for my son who kinda did not look forward at his college requirements and did not take a chunk of math and needs Algebra 2 though Trip and possibly pre-calc.  In my day, Alg 2 through Trig was required and you had to request out after your parents met with school teachers and such.  He is familiar with and currently using Khan Academy to work to catch up.

We live not far from Mee Chok Plaza.  Please PM me and lets talk.

    Thanks in advance.

  11. Whiners, over 60 drove 3 days round trip to BKK for my 1st shot of Pfizer (great to get out of the house!) and will have to do the same for the second as nothing here in CM as far as registration had worked correctly for me (still nothing from Wall of Chiang Mai registration, check daily).  Have a Moderna in Oct in BKK (if it shows up) and when I head back to the US in Jan, I'm going to get a J&J.  That should just about cover it (wipes hands together).

No need for a will for the 800,000 baht.

Simply go to your bank along with who ever you want to have the 800,000. For a one off fee of just 100 baht the bank will include a special provision in your passbook that if you die then who you nominate will automatically have access to the funds.

I have done this and know many other farangs who have done it.

A lot cheaper than going to a lawyer who will try and milk as much as they can for themselves not just now but also after you die.

The Thai Wife says you can designate a non-Thai Beneficiary for the account.  Check with your bank on this.

Got the same reject due to Visa missing.  Luckily, I also registered at Medpark and got Pfizer 1st shot 4 days ago after a 3 day drive from CM to BKK and back.  What a mess.

    OMG

Had to, will be returning to the US in Jan and if the doors close to only allow vaccinated with approved vaccines in, sino-whatevers are not going to be approved.
