  1. Northrop was my last employer (left in '92) a windowless building on the property now occupied by SpaceX ????
  2. Fair, levelheaded response, I agree. A deal killer for most tourists is the COE (kinda bitch to get) and the 2 weeks of quarantine if still around.
  3. Thanks for the quick response. Have degrees is Chem, Med Tech, and Chem Eng (this last one from UCSB) myself but have owned a business for the last 25 years that requires trivial math skills (use it or lose it, why I need a tutor). Did the aerospace shuffle in the 80's between 4 companies living in Long Beach, CA. Have had a couple of other offers for tutoring but let me know when you get to Thailand and best of luck with getting over here!
  4. Looking for a tutor for my son who kinda did not look forward at his college requirements and did not take a chunk of math and needs Algebra 2 though Trip and possibly pre-calc. In my day, Alg 2 through Trig was required and you had to request out after your parents met with school teachers and such. He is familiar with and currently using Khan Academy to work to catch up. We live not far from Mee Chok Plaza. Please PM me and lets talk. Thanks in advance.
  5. Whiners, over 60 drove 3 days round trip to BKK for my 1st shot of Pfizer (great to get out of the house!) and will have to do the same for the second as nothing here in CM as far as registration had worked correctly for me (still nothing from Wall of Chiang Mai registration, check daily). Have a Moderna in Oct in BKK (if it shows up) and when I head back to the US in Jan, I'm going to get a J&J. That should just about cover it (wipes hands together).
  6. Not to hijack, how long is a re-entry permit good for as far as time out of the country?
  7. The Thai Wife says you can designate a non-Thai Beneficiary for the account. Check with your bank on this.
  8. OMG Had to, will be returning to the US in Jan and if the doors close to only allow vaccinated with approved vaccines in, sino-whatevers are not going to be approved.
  9. Got the same reject due to Visa missing. Luckily, I also registered at Medpark and got Pfizer 1st shot 4 days ago after a 3 day drive from CM to BKK and back. What a mess.
  10. I thought they just announced special flights to get out of Phuket. Damn hard to keep up with this Sh-t.
  11. Gosh Golly Gee, Maybe it has to do with allowing people into the country who knew how to set things up and vaccinate 90% of the population in a week: https://edition.cnn.com/2021/07/28/asia/bhutan-covid-vaccine-rollout-intl-hnk/index.html
  12. No, Thai wife doing the take it or leave it when they can't compete intellectually, know they made a mistake, cost you (family) money, and act out due to frustration. The longer we have been back in Thailand, the "less intellectual" the wife gets and this phenomena is universal with my friends back in the US married to Thai women. I blame the language, it takes her an entire page of language in Thai to get across 2 sentences in English and at the end you still did not get the question you asked her to translate answered. Kinda like speaking Ent in the Lord of the Rings.
  13. When the variant hits Delta Tai Chi, I'm going out to party no matter what!!
  14. Just came back today, just a single wave through at one point and a "if not Chiang Mai license plates go in this lane" about 5 km after as you approached Chang Mai on the 11. Nothing else.
  15. Yup, BYW stopped in Phitsanulok for the night on the way back to CM. No alcohol any day/time until 8/31. There was only a couple of small Sing's in the minibar that the hotel would not replenish. The balance of luck in the universe has been restored.
  16. My Medpark experience today. Arrived at 11:30am for my 1pm appt and, as several people have pointed out, no problem showing up early. Got right in line (maybe 4 people ahead of me) to the QR code survey which was taking most people's time in line. On to the registration where they segregated us old-timers (60 and up) to a short line (only 2 people ahead of me) and was immediately asked if want Pfizer despite several e-mails confirming I was for sure to only get AZ. I graciously accepted ("Thank you God" from Animal House in my heart) and was sent immediately to sit in a well organized and distanced seating area waiting for my number to be called. Seven numbers after I sat down (and a!most immediately had been given a blood pressure reading within a minute of sitting) I went to fill out a couple of forms (mostly signatures, a few check boxes), then off to the shot that took 45 seconds which included me taking a pic of the vial lot number. Off then to sit for 30min blood pressure again, appt for next shot handed to me, then gone. 1hr from the time I walked in to heading back to the truck. Now, I have to tell you why so quick. The AZ shots were not going to show up at the hospital until the afternoon (wife in the right place at the right time overheard the Dr's talking amongst themselves) so they were only processing us old and the infirm for Pfizer. Just the luck of the draw. Parking was a bit of a bitch in the hospital parking but we found one before having to shuffle off to park nextdoor.
  17. If smell not passing, could be a break in the water trap that is allowing the water to drain out and sewer gas to back out to the bathroom.
  18. Ya, lots have change in the last month. Moderator can close (or delete) this post as I don't want to hand out bad info. Thanks
