33 minutes ago, webfact said:The decriminalization had its merits, notably reducing the burden on Thai courts and prisons, currently overwhelmed with drug-related cases. However, the challenges of managing this newfound freedom have been considerable. Young people’s cannabis usage rates have soared, and reports of health issues related to consumption are on the rise.
So courts and prisons will once again be burdened.
Health issues are on the rise. What health issues and what's the number?
33 minutes ago, webfact said:Comparatively, while the West, including parts of the U.S., has generally seen a smoother transition to marijuana decriminalization, cultural and regional differences mean those models aren't easily replicated in Thailand.
Rubbish.
33 minutes ago, webfact said:Additionally, Thailand's foray into legal cannabis spurred a rapid expansion of dispensaries and businesses, with nearly 8,000 outlets and numerous agro-firms emerging. The economic potential appeared vast, with forecasts predicting the industry could be worth $1.2 billion by 2025. However, regulatory gaps allowed foreign entities to flood the market, diluting benefits that were meant to support local communities and farmers.
Easy answer is to regulate. Does the government not have the brains to do this? Yeh! Silly question I know but a $1.2 billion dollar so around Bt45 billion baht will now be binned and black market money will go back to the criminals in the drug industry so the drug kingpins, generals, BIB, smugglers and dearlers. Yep! This seems like a rational thing to do.
33 minutes ago, webfact said:A carefully moderated middle-ground approach, focusing on medicinal use and proper regulation, may balance the urgent need to address health concerns while also preserving some economic benefits. Taxation of marijuana sales could provide government revenue, and enforcing stricter controls on the market could ensure local stakeholders reap the intended rewards.
Agree except for the focus on medicinal use as this will be a very small % of sales in comparison to purchase for recreational use.

Sad but true.
Unfortunately, all of this AI garbage and dumb photos encourages clicks and comments.
Clicks mean money and I have just contributed.
True and I've done the same here. I guess this is the new 'professionalism' in delivering NEWS online on this site. It doesn't have to be this way and I'm sure most of us would appreciate human content albeit with spelling and grammatical errors. The article itself is an interesting one and doesn't appear AI generated but being that the source of any article now is not given it's probablly a direct lift with an AI searched image added.

You are absolutely right radical Islam is laughing loudly at western stupidity but that won't save the stupid when the radicals get the knives out and you can bet they would be the first to welcome the IDF or Nato when it happens, fools and hypocrites...
Thanks but may I add that this stupidity is supported by legacy media. Initially and even now it's very rare to hear that what is happening in Gaza is because Hamas slapped Israel and Israell slapped back a whole lot harder. This Free Gaza thing I would agree with if it was Free Gaza from the Islamist terror organisation Hamas. Sadly the idiots of this world do not even seem to see Hamas as Islamic terrorists as displayed to the World to see on Oct. 7. I really can't believe how stupid people have become. Edit: I forgot the idiots screaming "From the river to the see". Basically fkall of them will know what river and what sea and while their screaming genocide by Israel this is exacttly what their advocating. The world is full of absolute self entiled morons.

It's quite perplexing how people can support radical Islam. I've seen gay men in dresses, sorry gender disphoria men in dresses, yelling "Free Gaza". Love to see them doing that in Iran for example.

This has to be the most stupid image linked to an article ever on this site and lately this takes some doing.

As to cause of death it amazes me that so many consider an age bracket as some sort of measure of invulnerability from cardiac issues or sudden onset of pulmonary infection involving a type of pneumonia ?
Yes. Can be many reasons. All speculation.

So what. Why do you need to know right now? Maybe these are the only details released. What's wrong with you? Do you not know the process of how these types of deaths work? Accept for now he's died. What are the circumstances? Maybe, just maybe we'll have to wait.

1 hour ago, Jonathan Swift said:Brush up on your physics. You obviously know nothing about flying or aircraft. And no, watching Top gun doesn’t qualify you as an expert. Any aspect of flying requires an overabundance of caution as a fundamental rule. Any seemingly lightweight object can be hazardous or deadly to an aircraft flying at high speeds of over 600-700 mph, not by “taking out an aircraft” but by causing significant damage to critical elements such as control surfaces of the aircraft or possible consequences of evasive action. The damage from an AK47 round (that’s a machine gun bullet) does not come from its size or weight, which are miniscule, but from its velocity. At jet speeds everything becomes a bullet. A chunk of urethane foam took out the space shuttle Columbia by tearing a small barely visible hole in the wing. . Bird strikes can break windshields and take out engines. If the jet has only one engine a flame out can be fatal. Anything that blocks a jet intake can cause a flameout no matter what it’s made of. A chuck of tire tread is what blew up the Concorde when it got sucked into an engine. If a piece of engine turbine blade breaks off it becomes an armor piercing projectile. Just being distracted for a moment by a collision with an unknown object can be dangerous especially in a one seater with only one pilot at the controls. Any potential emergency requires split second decisions and responses. This is not a war situation and no one is expecting to encounter any threat or risk, so these things can catch a pilot off guard. Now I realize that half of all your fun here comes from ridiculing Thai culture, but in this case you threw the egg into your own face. Good luck with your further education, we’re all rooting for you.
Maybe this is a little complicated when the OP is really about the rockets and a danger of collision. Here's an easier and of course extremely simplified version. Take a long length of PVC piping, stuff it full of gunpowder, apply wick and light. Rocket goes up. Rocket is going very, very fast. Rocket hits plane. Not good.

Hamas went into Israel and mudered over 1100 civilians on Oct 7 last year. This is a fact. The two mentioned in the article were two of these although it seems their deaths occured later in captivity. Murdered by nutter Islamist terrorists.

Not exactly some piddling little carboard or wooden homemade rocket.

By all means farm it, sell it to the pharmaceutical industry for processing and deliver it to the hospitals for doctors to prescribe it. Get rid of all the shops that sell it to whoever wants it, and make it illegal as a recreational drug for sale/personal use.
Easy solution.
Better to have cigs and alcohol legal because they cause less harm? I'm not advocating for the criminalisation of either cigs or booze because that's just as rediculous and won't happen but this century old idea that dope should be classified as a narcotic is just that. A century old. Actually I think it was 1936 or there abouts. Dope of course will still be available but a person becomes a criminal again for smoking it and the real criminals go back to making a fortune. Yep! good idea. Go and get drunk and smoke ciggies is ok but have a spliff and your a criminal. Rediculous. It should be decriminalised with caveats. No smoking areas. Yes. Same as cigs. Sale to minors illigal with stiff penalties. Purchased from licenced outlets. Define the amount a person can have for personal use. Define the amount a person can grow for personal use. Farming/plantations regulated and licensed. These are some examples of how it can be done. Basically decriminalized rather than legalised. Sadly baffoons run the show here.

"a government review". So not data, no evidence and no science independant of the government position but purely what the puppet master says. I think we all know the outcome. Regression, which is very good for the drug bosses, the generals and the BIB.

Funny how many films have been banned by the Thai censors though because they don't "promote the charm of Thai culture". It's not only those who stand up against Section 112 who are denied their freedom of speech. Many movie makers here are denied their right to artistic license. TIT. You must conform.

Three replies above so far from two posters to the OP and they're just puerile. For once there's a postive story. I say well done.

James Marsh, a food safety expert and executive director of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), warned that rice stored for 10 years will have lost all its nutrients. He also cautioned that the rice might be chemically contaminated based on preservation methods used while stored.
Well I reckon this is an "expert" I'll believe. Of course we've seen a lot of "expert opinions" in the last few years that support profits for companies with all other "expert opinions" being wrong (aka conspiracies) so I guess James Marsh's expert opinion will be disregarded by the Thai government after all they have their own "experts."

True - and I am sure the PM will want the job for many years and not risk it in an election. But politics is not a game that can be planned out ahead with any certainty.
Actually I'm suggesting, just as as a poosibility, that their might not be an election for quite some time because PTP will get the boot with another coup.

I hope they bring in their defence the practice in other countries that have abolished lese-majeste laws which used to apply to heads of state like monarchs and presidents.
It is still possible to have a functioning monarchy without these laws, as offences like treason will still be applicable in serious threats.
Only a few countries like Thailand, Cambodia, and some Middle Eastern countries still have them in force.
I quote the example of the United Kingdom where the late Queen was revered by the majority of the population and there has been an outpouring of support for the current King and his daughter in law after their recent medical diagnoses.
Even former colonies like Australia and New Zealand refuse to become republics, seeing the advantage of an independent barrier to their politicians’ excesses.Plenty of republicans in Aus mate I'll tell you that. Charles ain't my King but I could call him a dithering idiot (not the case IMO) publically without fear of prosecution. The same cannot be said here.

Recall that of the 250 Senate seats, only 200 will be subjected to deselection. The remaining fifty are likely reserved for old guard, ie., NCPO junta leadership and consultants. That's 20% already against any new opposition.
Agree. The 50 that remain will be Pratut's Junta appointments. Then the selection critera of being over 40 disqualifies many of those on the progressive side. Then you have occupations which is skewed to professionals only and then you have the corruption in that wealth can buy your selection. So, yes, the selected not elected Senate will will be full of the old guard with many of the dinasaurs currently in the Senate remaining. This whole selection not election is a complete farce open to corruption and manipulation and is in no way representative of a democtratic process.
