Rediculous comment. I guess if your not Thai you no nothing about Thaksin's extrajudicial killing spree in his war on drugs. Not Thai then have no idea about deals being made to bring Thaksin back. Not Thai then have no idea and no right to comment on corruption. Not Thai then have no idea and should not comment on how MFP was shafted. I could go on for a long time about this but needless to say one doesn't need to be Thai to know about and have an opinion on the aforementioned examples. Your entire post is just a rambling diatribe of complete nonsense.

You might as well ban alcohol and cigarettes I'm sure the could come up scientific evidence that they are just as bad, Close all the bars and nightclubs,
I reckon the evidence will show that booze and cigs are worse.

Better the youngers take yaba then I guess. Legal or illegal dope will still be here like yaba just yaba will become a cheap and readily available alternative. Dope goes underground and harder to get then meth problem is very likely to increase along with all the accociated problems not found with dope. IMO this is also a valid point.

"Pothead". Well it's clear what you think. Having a joint or two doesn't make a person a "pothead" just like having a beer or three doesn't make a person an alcoholic. I for one would be happy to buy from a shop rather than sneaking around corners to buy some knowing the BIB would want a backhander to turn a blind eye. Still if you think supporting corruption and crime bosses is the way to go then that's your oppinion and you're entitled to it. Dope has always been availble here and always will be. How it can be obtained is the question.

Protesting and filing lawsuits is the best way to address this also weed advocates should step up pressure and the Thai people should remember the polictical party who caused this issue !!! VOTE THEM OUT !!!!! Tell your local government leaders to support cannibis !!! Or VOTE THEM OUT !!!!!
The last 'govt' was voted out and the govt. we have wasn't voted in so not sure how much good it would do.

It seems that most on here have forgotten the 0.2% thing. Fortunately the medical only nonsense was passed right on by and profits made from crime boses, generals and the BIB was taken away. I'm all for young kids not being able to buy it but what is the harm to society? I've seen increased crime stated but this is nonsense. Crime and meth, sure but not dope. I would love to see evidence to dispute this. Crime associated with dope is only from it being illegal. Smuggling, growing, dealing and smoking. Recriminalisation hence will increase crime.

Decriminalizing users for having small quantities is not the same as opening up huge tracts of farmland to criminal cartels.
Jeeeez do you have this wrong. It's not cartels that are farming the stuff now but it will be cartels profiting once again if it's recriminalised. Good idea. Put the money back into the hands of smugglers, generals and the BIB.

IMO the majority of Royalists are not against PT as much as they were in the past - because they are all deeply against Move Forward.
The issue of PT versus Military goes very deep - both Thaksin and his Sister were outed by coups. IMO the outcome will be a severe curtailing of the power of the Military such that they cannot ever again take power through a coup. But Thaksin Snr knows it will be a generational process, and one that he will not be around to see finish - but probably his Sister will see (first hand) - and he hopes that it will be his Daughter that will put in the final nail.
IMO by taking power and then not returning to the barracks, but staying on in power for 10 years, the Junta has destroyed their credibility to ever again take power though a coup. They tried to hold power through the political system, but being so inept and ignorant of politics, they have literally shot themselves in both feet. Should they ever rolll out their tanks again, the economic and financial responses from the western world will destroy Thailand in the long run - despite China taking their side.
Do not underestimate the power of the military in politics. Remember who their boss is.

4 minutes ago, TroubleandGrumpy said:Thaksin is back and he is planning things very carefully step by step - based around the fact that the Junta appointed Senate will be outed very soon. IMO Thaksin also has in that plan his belief that Pheu Thai will win more seats than Move Forward at an early election. I agree - especially if/when the economy turns around and the 10K handout has occured. Thaksin has been a 'game changer' and he knows Move Forward and the Junta Parties (including Anitan's turncoats) will never partner up, so he knows that without Pheu Thai no one else can form Government. Pheu Thai, guided by Thaksin, is going to be exercising their power more and more this year, because they will say (behind closed doors) 'either you cooperate now or we go to an early election'. Whilst Move Forward will probably think they can do the impossible again, even with Thaksin back, the Junta Parties know the only way they will have any power is if they comply with Pheu Thai, or they fire up the tanks.
You assume alot here. As I understand 50 of the junta's senators remain. As for the selection not election of the other 200 senators the outcome will be interesting. The 40 yrs and above and only certain occupations criteria is not good for MFP. So it's mainly down to the military/royalists v PTP. The whole notion of non political affiliation is a farce by the way.

Coalition formed because of deal to bring back Thaksin. Opposition that won the election denied government by the Junta's Senate. Opposition to be dissolved by the Junta's legal arm. Cause destabalisation within the coalition. Coalition fails. Governance becomes unworkable. Military steps in. Just a thought.

The Senate should be composed of politicians elected by the general public with elections occuring every 6 years. This system of selection not election is very much open to corruption and manipulation.

Mr Bill Gates, (who is not a doctor, but was at the forefront of the covid BS and someone we were supposed to listen to) said that covid should be treated like the flu, and that it mostly effected the elderly....
Yep but still isn't the flu and isn't the common cold as I posted. I also posted that all three have similar symptoms. As for Gates saying treat it like the flu is all about continuous vaccinations. Anyone in their right mind who is not at risk (so the majority) will not treat this the same as the flu with annual boosters. Even flu vaccination is targeted. Healthy people do not need flu jabs.

And Thailand at the national level right now appears to have NO national COVID vaccine policy (unless being absent is a policy).
So, obviously, each country makes their own choices about what they think is best / most affordable / etc.

Because the U.S.'s past experience with the level of COVID illness among young people there, sometimes serious, who often haven't been vaccinated, makes them feel that the reward-risk balance favors vaccination.
No one else does. It's a targeted vaccine within populations.

Breaking News! Cold viruses - including Covid-19 and influenza - undergo "constant evolution". Who would have thought!!
SarsCov2 is not a cold virus and neither is the flu. Not sure how many times this needs to be posted but covid, the flu and the common cold are not the same. May have very similar symptoms but all three are different viruses.

The Thai government, at least for the present, seems to have ceased its former practice of offering free and widespread public COVID vaccinations (although I'm not aware that they ever actually announced that change).
However, the latest XBB variant COVID vaccine is available for a fee from at least several locations in Bangkok. Can't speak to the current availability outside of Bangkok.
Here's more info on the BKK availability:
PS -- At least in the West, there is likely to be a new JN.1 or similar variant-focused COVID vaccine available in fall 2024 (later this year). That likely will eventually make its way to the BKK vaccination sources listed above.
But the seasonal peak time for COVID in Thailand typically has been now... March thru June-July... So if anyone has a desire to get vaccinated, now is the right time to go instead of waiting till the fall.
PPS - It's certainly true that the risk from COVID is far greater for older adults, and much less (though not nothing) for young people. The U.S. current policy is everyone should get the newest COVID vaccine. Places like the UK have a different policy to only give new vaccine to the elderly and those otherwise at risk.
Why is it that the CDC still says everyone should get the mRNA vax where all other advanced countries don't. Is covid somehow different in the US than say all of Europe, the UK, Aus, NZ etc.

Let me guess. You are from the AUS (American United States). I’ve noticed that AUS folks often refer to a non-existent organisation in China, the CCP. Guess they’re not educated enough to realise that the proper acronym is CPC. Or they are just bad in spelling.
Pitiful.

Thousands of tonnes a year coming across the boarders. This is what it will go back to. I guess this it what all those screeming "dopeheads" on here would rather see. Maybe they're just completely illinformed or just plain ignorant but criminalising dope again is not the way to go. There is no logic behind this. It's political.
