Why so many conspiracy theorists and what to do about them
NorthernRyland replied to kwilco's topic in Off the beaten track
The legacy corporate news media where they chose the agenda and present it you in one direction. If there are opposing opinions they will go ignored or at best they have controlled opposition to play devils advocate and make the news appear impartial. This is opposed to decentralized internet media where anyone can present some information and then others can contribute and communicate back and forth with each other. -
Looking at some options today since I'm in the city and saw "Bake n Bite" at the top of the list. I'm in Mae Jo now so this is going to take at least 45 minutes to get to from here. There's lots of options in the city but it's so congested with traffic most places you can't get to unless you want to spend over an hour driving. Looks reasonable though and a nice setting that isn't some ugly concrete box next to a highway. Worth a visit for that alone.

I started using ChatGPT for programming work when researching. The web is now filled with so much spam and garbage it's become hard to filter through. It's not perfect by any means but is usually better than using Google.

I'm no expert but when I hear "selling backlinks" I'm thinking you're helping spammy websites with garbage content beat the search engines. Fair play, it's money in the bank.

Indeed I am a programmer and can attest. Only well paid thanks to my boss. I've been self employed before and dirt poor scraping by in Thailand.

Yes there's a circuit I'm aware of, Pai -> Chiang Mai -> Koh Phangan. There's also a "new age" element too and lots of dope smokers etc...

Digital nomads are a form of locust. Move from place to place, consume services, occupy locations and milk as much as they can from the region. When they're bored they move on and trash the next place. I was in Chiang Mai over Songkran and went to a farang food restaurant. They dedicated an entire page of the menu to asking people not to sit at their table for hours nursing a single meal. I work remote from my computer but I never work outside my house or go co-working spaces etc... so being a digital nomad is something more than merely working remote.

So you're enabling spammers on the internet and consulting other spammers how to game the system?

Why so many conspiracy theorists and what to do about them
NorthernRyland replied to kwilco's topic in Off the beaten track
I listened to many people go back and forth on these details and it doesn't seem clear to me at all. For every point you mentioned there is a counter point on the other side and people who swear by their expertise in the area. I could go either way as a layperson. This isn't even including building 7 btw, just the towers. The problem I have is writing this off as mere "conspiracy theory" instead of debating the points because it's clearly a very complicated topic and there's merits in many of the claims. -

I've listened to both sides of the debate on the moon landing and both sides have good arguments. At the very least they were successful in planting seeds of doubt and since I wasn't on the shuttle myself I'll never know for certain. Same for 9/11. It really does look like a controlled demolition. It's hard to envision what happened with the pillars and how they could melt at free fall speed. Whether jet fuel can burn at that temperature is debated also. I've heard the testimony of engineers who explained how that fire would likely have happened and I've heard the counter arguments. Then the fact it was used to spark an illegal war on false pretenses was extremely suspect. As it stands it looks like 9/11 was probably a conspiracy, or least their arguments were more convincing for me personally. However things like flat earth are too stupid to entertain. I tried to give them a chance and listened a little but it's just too stupid on it's face to believe. -
these choke points are all over Thailand. Problem is anywhere a road exists Thai people will build right up to the edge and provide no parking so people park in the streets. Government could fix this by banning parking on the street and this would kill those businesses unless they built parking and moved inside off the street. It really is a stupid design and very dangerous.

You got this perfectly backwards. The so-called conspiracy theories are on the rise because people are able to communicate more freely now and don't rely solely on centralized media as their main source of truth.- 214 replies

Thailand will find ways to compensate after damages occur but not prevention. Like with this latest attack, the dog will survive and be placed somewhere. If it attacks again the victim may get compensation but obviously this never should have happened. Ditto for road safety. If you get in a crash because a speeding driver you may be compensated but never will the police patrol and prevent speeders in the first place. This is deeply rooted in the culture and will not be changing in our lifetime if ever.

Britain is turning RACIST against white people !
NorthernRyland replied to CharlieH's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
There was a reparation movement at one point with blacks supporting the idea too. It's not crazy, they were from Africa so why not go home? This an excerpt from Lincoln: My first impulse would be to free all the slaves, and send them to Liberia, -- to their own native land. But a moment's reflection would convince me, that whatever of high hope, (as I think there is) there may be in this, in the long run, its sudden execution is impossible. If they were all landed there in a day, they would all perish in the next ten days; and there are not surplus shipping and surplus money enough in the world to carry them there in many times ten days. What then? Free them all, and keep them among us as underlings? Is it quite certain that this betters their condition -

I would have negotiated compensation and deportation back to Africa (Abraham Lincoln had this idea too) . What I wouldn't do is ask for "civil rights" and end to red-lining etc... I'd be trying to GTFO ASAP. -

The roles haven't reversed. They were upset the British can into their countries and ruled over them so now they're moving to Britain to be ruled over once again. They clearly want the British to be in charge do they not?
