Pizza the action: Foreign man wreaks havoc at Phuket pizzeria
NorthernRyland replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
What can Thailand realistically do about this problem? You'd have to basically institute a discriminatory policy that denies entries to dodgy looking people. I don't think they could get away with that. 500 baht fine is ridiculous of course. Surely you get deported and black listed for this kind of behavior? If not that's the first place to start. Give them 30+ days in jail would make sense too. -
Man Dies After Attack by Mixed-Breed Stray Dogs in Ubon Ratchathani
NorthernRyland replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Exactly. 3rd world means uncivilized and the way Thai's keep dogs IS uncivilized. It doesn't matter how many fancy towers and restaurants there are in Bangkok the majority of the country is not managing public affairs like stray dogs and the deadly driving we see daily. This is first and foremost a problem with the people and the culture.- 91 replies

Man Dies After Attack by Mixed-Breed Stray Dogs in Ubon Ratchathani
NorthernRyland replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Thai people are mental with dogs. They simply don't know how to keep them. Just look at how they have to walk through their own streets with stick in hand to beat off dogs. Letting them sleep on the road covered with diseases and run after passing traffi etc... They need a national campaign to teach the people because they can't figure it out on their own.- 91 replies

Thailand to abolish hefty import tariff on wine
NorthernRyland replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They need cheaper wine in order to think up more hub ideas. -
Thailand to abolish hefty import tariff on wine
NorthernRyland replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
is there a government sanctioned monopoly on wine import? If not you could easily undercut the competition right now and make good business. Being this is Thailand I bet they rigged the market at some level though. -
Trump Surges in Latest Top Poll 538 Predictions
NorthernRyland replied to Social Media's topic in World News
There have already been 2 assassination attempts on Trump right? The US election system with mail-in ballots is impossible to audit and stakes are higher than ever. They're going to simply keep counting ballots until they get the results they want. -
AI is totally BS indeed. It's a LLM. Even more stupid is Apple integrated it into the OS and calling it "Apple Intelligence". 🤮

It can copy paste at a granule level so it can build some things but in a lego-like fashion, not new information. Even so it's useful for programming because often you're searching for examples in some codebase you've never used and ChatGPT is helpful there.

I use ChatGPT for work (programmer) and it's often better at searching for information than Google. It can even produce snippets of code that you would otherwise need to research just to see examples. However it's also wrong often and can hallucinate so you always need to double check things. Still I find it the most useful search tool in many cases.

Thailand's Landmark Move: Same-Sex Marriage Legalised
NorthernRyland replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I think if straight men could get sex as easily as gay men the marriage rates would collapse to single digits. Makes we wonder how many gay men will get married anyways. -
Brace for a downpour: 42 provinces in for a wet and wild ride
NorthernRyland replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yeah they were right it's dumping now in mountains outside of Chiang Mai. It rained all of yesterday but today it stopped so I decided to sneak out for a bike ride to see how it is. I get further up the mountain and into a thick fog and rain. Totally soaked by the time I got back home. I'll expect some more land slides and flooding tomorrow from this one. It is lovely weather if you're inside and dry. fog 2.mov -
Air conditioning is effecting my sleep
NorthernRyland replied to DonniePeverley's topic in Health and Medicine
He said "Couple of times i've slept at mates in cooler temperature with just a fan and it's great. " so it must be a different building or location, that's why I asked. I never knew I had a mold allergy until I moved to Thailand. I imagine other people have this too. The dry air burns my lungs for like 2 weeks and my nose dries out and gets congested until it stabilizes. Never heard of static electricity problems though. Many people with bad allergies have been forced to move to desert climates which fixes their problems. -
Air conditioning is effecting my sleep
NorthernRyland replied to DonniePeverley's topic in Health and Medicine
I don't know about this. I was just back in Colorado for 2 months and the relative humidity is like 25%. Now back in Thailand and dealing with 95+% humidity. The dry air is hard to adjust too but it's free of mold at least. Why does the OP think it's the AC instead of other factors like mold? It may be the specific room/location you're in has a mold problem. I've found this to be true for myself who gets asthma in Thailand but not back home. -
Dog Relocation from USA to Thailand?
NorthernRyland replied to cowboys2008's topic in General Topics
I agree Thailand is actually a really crap place for dogs. Even if you can find a place to walk there's the constant nuisance of stray dogs that will bother or maybe even attack you. Virtually every nice place you can think of will have stray dogs that found it before you or the neighbors in the area will let their dogs roam free. The only places I found which I can walk are dirt roads in the mountains and they're swarming with mosquitoes for half the year even so. Very poor options compared to the US. -
Dog Relocation from USA to Thailand?
NorthernRyland replied to cowboys2008's topic in General Topics
My dog fits in a bag (see profile photo) but Eva airlines will take this size, maybe even in the cabin. They seem very dog friendly in Taiwan. I think it was $300 per trip last time I checked. -
Dog Relocation from USA to Thailand?
NorthernRyland replied to cowboys2008's topic in General Topics
I don't understand Thai people with dogs. They feed strays but then let them suffer of disease on the street and bite people. Then when a person is fed up they poison the dog and nothing is ever resolved. Completely uncivilized behavior if you ask me. -
Man Falls Asleep at Red Traffic Light: Sing Buri
NorthernRyland replied to Georgealbert's topic in Central Thailand News
Thai people can sleep anywhere. Nothing seems to be enough to stop them from falling asleep. It makes you wonder how conscious they ever are if they can sleep so easily.
