  1. I stayed at plenty good 800 baht rooms. If they're good enough for the Thais they're good enough for me.
  2. They're not at fault and "the elites" don't chose who comes but some of us find certain groups repellant regardless of how they got here. Indians, Arabs and Chinese rub me the wrong so I will avoid them. Thai people don't even like them much right? When I first arrived in Thailand a Thai woman told me a proverb "between an Indian and a snake who do you hit first? The Indian". Curious how the poor Thai people in Phuket are coping with this surge.
  3. They're Slavic, you can't tell the difference ? It's like Thai, Vietnamese or Cambodian. There's some blurring around the edge on some people but it can be very obvious too. Especially if you're comparing Japanese against Thai its' going to be hard to ever guess wrong unless you're very new to the region.
  4. Not every one reacts the same though. I wish it made me feel as good as other people claim it does for them but that never happened. Maybe he got paranoid and thought someone was following him or something? Seems possible to me.
  5. Lock him up in the same cell with this guy.
  6. Here's some video of Chiang Rai flooding in the main city. The waters levels appeared to rise 10 meters and took out a suspension bridge. Wild stuff.
  7. This is so tedious. Stop and think for a moment. Do understand the country was settled for hundreds of years already? A an immigrant from central America arriving in 2024 and moving into an existing city is not the same as a Welsh immigrant in 1800 moving to unsettled land and homesteading. Everything that matters is different.
  8. Global average IQ is not even 90. This explains most of our problems honestly.
  9. Vigilante justice because Thailand won't enforce even the most basic laws or standards. It doesn't have to be this way people.
  10. Illegal immigrants in America have taken the jobs that used to be worked by teenagers, elderly forced out of retirement, the working poor and various troubled people with family problems, mental disorders, drug addictions etc... because they work harder for less. So you're basically dunking on the least fortunate people in society and kids trying to making a few bucks going through school. Are you proud of yourself?
  11. Robert Reich is such a greedy little goblin. He probably spends his days rubbing his hands together thinking how to get his grubby little mitts on other peoples money. Deplorable person.
  12. Is this because tax evasion or are they simply not required and which countries are you referring to? I'm a tax slave unless I relinquish my US citizenship so this idea of not paying taxes is totally alien to me.
  13. The idea of paying income tax in a country where you have non-immigrant status is absurd and even more absurd when currency exchange rates put you into the highest tax bracket that citizens would pay even though you may be merely middle class in your own country. The idea of the income tax was to distribute wealth among citizens and share the outstanding money in an economy. All of that goes out of the window when you think of taxing non-immigrants on temporary visas.
  14. This law was probably made to specially target something. Maybe China has been in talks with Thailand to help them catch tax evaders and draw them back home? who knows.
  15. It's possible and even likely IMO that they only enforce these laws on wealthy people and it goes totally ignored for the rest of us expats. Having this law is an extra tool they have to extort money out of people if need but that doesn't mean they intend to implement an entire system to collect taxes for expats and people on long term tourist visas.
  16. There was a form I could download and fill out? yeah I'm not doing that and neither should anyone else. If when I do my extension in December they ask for it I'll do it then. The rule is, never preemptively try to comply with laws unless you need to. This is how Thai people operate too and normal here.
  17. There's a yearly earnings report? never heard of it. Probably one of the many laws not enforced that no one even knows about.
  18. I'm still doing absolutely nothing or worrying about it until they actually present me a formal request and tell me how much I owe them. Thailand has thousands of laws which they don't bother to enforce so this is just another piece of paper on a mile high stack.
  19. If Vance can get more white blue-collar people to come out and vote that would be a win for him but I don't know if Vance does that anymore than Trump himself. Trump is doing the typical Republican strategy of trying to attract more blacks (platinum plan, bringing our rappers etc...), which will fail as usual and in the process alienating working class whites where there's far bigger gains to be made.
  20. Trump is entering enemy territory if he gets back in. The political class in America which lives around D.C. are something 80%+ Democrats and the rest are Republican Bush and Cheney types which hate him. In order to be effective he needs to first clear out as much as the existing bureaucrats as possible and replace them with MAGA people. If I was him I would start my first day firing as many Democrats/lefties as possible and replacing them with literally anyone that has a public record of being a Trump supporter.
  21. Sure there were those but I'm thinking more of people like John Bolton. If he learned his lesson and gets elected first thing he needs to do is fire everyone and replace them with loyalists. I don't think he's radical enough to do that but that's what he's hinting. Maybe almost getting his head blown off changed his mind but time will tell.
  22. I'm struggling to understand this. "The swamp" is the DC establishment. Chaney is the swamp. What am I missing?
