  1. I've given my wife about 170,000 over the years for your previous debts because the bank called and threatened court. It's makes me angry as hell and make sure to make a big fight out of it so she knows I'm not ok with it. Paying her parents debts is a bridge too far though. If it came to that I think I would just move away for a while and let her decide if it's worth a divorce or not.
  2. Yeah they won like most issues but it's all lies. The entire West since WWII is built on one giant pile of lies and it's going to come crumbling down eventually.
  3. seriously how many gay men want to get married? They can just log in to grinder and get sex no questions asked. With women it's not so easy and for most of history marriage was required for sex at all. As far as I can tell this driven by activists for their own personal clout.
  4. The most reasonable compromise was civil unions (which cover the legal details and leave the original definition alone) but this was of course rejected because it's not really about they say it is. Marriage requires a women to be involved. The whole point of marriage is to solve a tension between men and women with the goal of raising families. Never once was it about nothing but "love" like the boomer liberals decided it was. Once you take the women out of the picture it's no longer marriage, full stop. I don't care what two men do with each other but it can never be marriage.
  5. this is maybe the most shocking statement yet. You should tell the women in your life about this and then come back and tell us what they said. 😂
  6. It's not gays complaining it's a specific social class of people that push this stuff relentlessly. In the US it from gay marriage to full blown trans mania is like 5 years. Thailand probably makes it illegal for trans to enter women's bathrooms so expect them to start attacking this angle next. Thailand is sadly not well versed enough in America politics to know where this goes but they're opening a can of worms on themselves.
  7. this is getting so tedious. It will always be something with you people. Nanoaggressions coming to a future near you.
  8. Bread and circuses, same as in the West. Gay marriage is a tiny issue (% of the population which is gay + the % of gays which will ever marry) that pales in comparison to other serious problems. Giving the urban liberals gay marriage and weed shuts them up for a while.
  9. That's what I mean about Thai people not respecting their own laws. They literally just don't care about laws, police included, so it's annoying when they feign interest because it's non-Thais involved. "My laws must bind everyone, high and low, or they're not laws at all." - King Arthur.
  10. 100% this. Mass tourism annoys everyone. No way to have a peaceful life with the locals if you're in one of those zones. If you feel unwanted maybe it's time considering moving to an area without tourism.
  11. Good idea. Karma goes both ways.
  12. yeah Thai people love to get hit and killed by speeding motorbikes while crossing the street. Who are even trying to protect here? If they followed simple traffic laws none of this would be happening.
  13. The love of money has corrupted Thai morality if you ask me. Is buying new cars and taking fancy vacations going to help them feel better about their daughter's death? that makes me cringe to think about. Worst of all nothing will be done to prevent this from happening again and the person responsible won't face serious justice as he could never repay this debt.
  14. Meanwhile in Phuket they have their panties in a twist over foreigners spray painting while crazy kids speed with immunity on deadly bikes everyday and no one even notices. If they didn't have wrong priorities they'd have no priorities at all.
  15. No, I just want them to actually care about the laws instead of focusing on high profile things that have little impact on anyones lives. The problem is Thai people have no respect for laws and rules.
  16. This really stings because one of my biggest problems in Thailand is that Thai people don't follow simple rules and break the law constantly.
  17. Sorry Chinese tourists are a menace. I've seen it too many times and so do the Thai's. They're largely not welcome from what I can tell.
  18. do they have one of those x-ray machine you step through? I bet that can see it.
  19. you're comparing the average Chinese of today with the historical population in Thailand? Spend some more time around Chinese and tell me how similar they are to Thai people.
  20. probably on the motor bike through Doi Inthanon and there's a road from Samoeng also but those all requires proper motorbikes. Haven't done it myself.
  21. I have a house in Samoeng deep back in the mountains around Chiang Mai. Nary a flat road to be found. Goes from 500 meters to 1200 meters in a hurry and every ride is at least 1000 meters of elevation gain. I love it but it gets mentally exhausting after a while.
  22. how did you get around the middle of the country? I've only driven past it and it seems miserable to be honest. I know it's nicer if you get near the western border so maybe that's the fix. Cycling is the north is lovely because we have varied terrain but those flat baron plains, no thanks. A better idea is just to do a loop through the north where you could cover the same amount of distance. Why bother going to BKK and skipping all the other good stuff? You would need to like mountains if you do that though.
  23. I saw that guy before. I cringed so hard I had to turn it off. I think it may even be meant for a Thai audience which doesn't know how ridiculous it sounds.
  24. He didn't have to give up if we would choose a (much) longer route which took you off the highway. He made it sound like you must use that highway but in reality there are plenty of other roads available. Anyways, it was a bad idea given his fitness levels. Taking 10 hours to cover less than 100k is crazy and guarantees you'll be riding in the midday heat. He should just be focusing on getting up some reasonable level of fitness and he can easily tackle this next winter.
  25. I've biked over 100k in Thailand over the years. It's bad but not as bad as people think.
