  1. A test? LOL. The first they'll do when they pass the test is crack open a beer and speed past a school zone going 100/hour. The only thing that could bring Thai's to sanity on the road would be credible fear of public hanging for violating traffic laws.
  2. I live in Mae Jo so if you're north from there it could be the road construction on the CM-Phrao road which they're expanding. There also going to put a new ring road starting a few kilos north of the new hospital so I wonder if they've started messing with anything in preparation for that massive project. As it would be I rent a little wooden house in Samoeng and the water pressure is so low the hot water heater doesn't even work and it's 12 degrees here right now! ????
  3. I'm curious now, why do so many people make it out to be basically impossible to get citizenship? Those are pretty low minimums for a normal person who was trying to living in Thailand. Are there any quotas per year which they can't exceed thus making the wait times like 10-20 years? If that was the case then indeed most people would just not bother.
  4. Also on the motorbike when you're driving around alone or in your car with the window up. Literally the only time you can take your mask off is when you're at home or eating. Even walking to the table you need to have a mask on but when you sit down to take a sip of water you can take it off. Yes it's that bad here.
  5. Sadly the Thai's have made the face mask into a new form of manners so people feel obliged to do it regardless of whether it's effective or makes sense. This is a total disaster because even if it's known in the future the masks are useless or COVID goes away the Thais could still keep them around as an antiquated custom of sorts.
  6. The 4 family members I know aged 25 to 72 that got COVID all had mild or flu like symptoms.
  7. Every country is the world has been through multiple waves of infections and we're going on 2 years now. That means it's over. You either learn to live with it or go insane fighting the wind.
  8. No they don't and that's a stupid idea anyways. Maybe in March 2020 this made sense but in December 2021 it's totally retarded.
  9. Btw for anyone interested. I quote from MDN: "503 Service Unavailable" The HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) 503 Service Unavailable server error response code indicates that the server is not ready to handle the request. Common causes are a server that is down for maintenance or that is overloaded. This response should be used for temporary conditions and the Retry-After HTTP header should, if possible, contain the estimated time for the recovery of the service. Point being you should all just do nothing and wait until tomorrow. Now they know the actual usage of the system they will be able to expand it to handle more requests.
  10. Then I wish I understood their intentions in the first place. I can see the logic of keeping people on their toes so they don't get too comfortable but maybe they've decided that's no longer needed anymore. Also a make-work program seems like a good reason considering how many immigration offices are kept alive this way.
  11. Isn't the 90 day report meant to be a make-work program for bureaucrats? If they make it easier then what is the purpose of making people report useless redundant information every 90 days?
  12. COVID has broken the Thai's brains. I don't know if they have an innate fear of viruses or they are simply propagandized and poorly informed but they're acting like COVID was just announced yesterday.
  13. what are you trying to get at? The numbers are so low it's very unlikely to know anyone that actually died. Still to this day I only know 4 people who even got COVID and knew about it.
  14. I take back what I said about that image being the worst offender because they do indeed have an ok breakdown. The notable deaths were the 15% of under 60's with no history of chronic disease. I'd love to know a little more about those particular people and why they had a bad outcome.
  15. The way the media has been reporting deaths is misleading. We never used to do this before because it's considered morbid and just not helpful. In my local paper last year they were reporting daily deaths with general age and if they were in a nursing home or not (which typically means they're terminal or otherwise not able to take care of themselves). Everyday there was a few people, typically in their 70s, 80s and 90s and about 50% of the time in nursing homes. Beyond that you had no idea who these people and what their general health was. This is misleading because it gives the reader the impression that they could be next, which is not at all the reality. The worst offenders are these billboard style death counters like then one you posted.
  16. In my state of Colorado last year during the winter there was a peak of 2500 hospitalized at once. This is a state of 5.8 million people and it has 108 hospitals. That means at the PEAK there were 23 people hospitalized with COVID per hospital. Given the size of hospitals I don't see how this could cause people spilling out into the hallways etc... like the news suggested was happening. Even if this was a 100% excess over normal (not likely given their age) what would a hospital need to do to accommodate 23 extra people? Buildings tents outside sounds a little over the top to me. My guess is that if the US really had excess hospitalization they would build heated tents in parking lots also but since never happened I can only presume they were able to handle the extra people inside the building itself (not shocking since it's only a few dozen people).
  17. Just clear rules is all I ask for. We offer a 60 day extension, if you're interested pay the fee and fill out the form. End of story.
  18. That's good to know thank you. Seems like a strange requirement but I guess they get more money that way. ????
  19. true but I wonder if they want it perpetually extended as per extensions. My feeling is it's going to be a "don't ask, don't tell" kind of thing. I'm also curious if they're gonna be checking our tracking apps to see if we've been naughty....
  20. And here is the crux of it. It's like a game they play where they know 99% of people can travel back home but they need to us to fake some paperwork anyway to clear some hurdle, which they themselves imposed. It's really kind of mental what they're doing and I wish they'd just be clear about what their intentions are.
  21. I'm ok with filing out the paper and paying money but they want us to justify our reasons to them and that's what bothers me. Just take the cash and leave it at that.
  22. Yet they want us to sign affidavits and waste more time and resources with pointless paper work. It's so frustrating that Thai's won't make clear rules and follow them.
  23. Maybe it's just me but this nonsense makes me feel like a criminal. We shouldn't need a reason except THEY offered and we merely accepted.
  24. That wasn't my point actually. What I'm saying is that immigration is basically playing games with us by having nonsensical rules that they apply randomly. If land borders aren't open and that's a reason to allow foreigners to stay in the country then there shouldn't be any questions asked, period.
