you can have an account outside if... " You'll only be able to have an address outside the UK and keep your accounts open if: You’re a UK Crown employee, or you’re the spouse or civil partner of a UK Crown employee The address outside the UK on your account is for someone who manages your account for you (for example, someone who has power of attorney), or for someone who’s set up to receive information on your behalf (for example, an accountant or lawyer) You’re outside the UK on a temporary basis for six months or less and will be moving back to the UK." Water rationing starts 1st July
kwilco replied to Tropicalevo's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
Downpours don't relate directly to your water supply. The water has to be collected and stored. Usually iy takes a whole wet season to bring water levels up to normal. This year average rainfall is down due to El Nino and the government is worried about drought in parts of the country. On Samui it is still unclear where the water is coming from...e.g. how much is actually coming from the undersea pipeline and how much is gathered on the island. I used to have contacts with the local nabobs but now information seems very space. Have you checked with the water company? What did they say? -
You realise how littl that is compared to UK or USA? Have you never paid taxes in this country? THere are loads of deductions and loop holes etcetc - I suggest you get an accountant and sort it out. Type of Allowance Amount Deductible expenses for income 50% of income (capped at 100,000 baht) Personal allowance 60,000 baht Spouses (with no income) 60,000 baht Child (with income not exceeding 30,000 baht) (Under 20 years of age, regardless of whether he is studying; or under 25 years of age, but he must be studying at a university, either in Thailand or abroad. There is no limit on the number of natural children that can be claimed, but there is a limit of three when claiming adopted children.) 30,000 baht per child Second child born from 2018 onwards (Same criteria as for “Child Allowance” above) 60,000 baht per child Health insurance premiums paid by the taxpayer* Amount actually paid, but not exceeding 25,000 baht Life insurance premiums paid by the taxpayer* Amount actually paid, but not exceeding 100,000 baht Provident Fund contributions (PVF) ** Up to a maximum of 500,000 baht, but not exceeding 15% of income Retirement mutual fund (RMF) ** Up to a maximum of 500,000 baht, but not exceeding 30% of income Super Saving Fund (SSF) ** Up to a maximum of 200,000 baht, but not exceeding 30% of income Home mortgage interest Amount actually paid, but not exceeding 100,000 baht Charitable contributions Amount actually donated, but not exceeding 10% of income after standard deductions and allowances. Sounds like you think they take the whole lot after that!!! that's the level up to which you don't pay tax....they take nothing - the next level how much? 150,001 to 300,000 - 5% 300,001 to 500,000 - 10% 500,001 to 750,000 - 15% 750,001 to 1,000,000 - 20% for example.... So if you earn 450k they take nothing from the first 150, then 10% off 150k = 15k and 20% off the last 150k you earned. = 30k so the total deducted would be 45k right?

Stat - "And here I am thinking I spend a lot of money on vat, visa fees, import duties etc but apparently that does not count in your book... Apparenty you are not aware than 90% of thai people do not pay any tax at all." "Many Thais, both rich and poor, are simply outside of the tax system. Just three million Thais out of 67 million regularly pay income taxes." and all Thais pay VAT etc a when their income hits a certain level they pay income tax - I see no reason to excuse foreigners from this playing field.

Weighing passengers to become standard for Bangkok Airways
kwilco replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
THe amount of fuel used in a flight is directly proportional to the weight.mass the plane is flying. So it is more expensive to transport a heavier person. It is important to know how much it costs to carry everything from a case to a big person. THen they will have to decide whether or not it is worth charging passengers accordingly. You are a percentage of the payload and that amount will vary with your weight. Of course it should also involve changes in seat design..... big peope require more space in the fuselage. -
It would also depend on what tax bracket you are in - the first portion of your income is tax free then it's the "average" amount onlt=y over a certain sum is taxed at the higher rate. I can't remember what the earning "gateways" were off hnd but wen I earned a miilion baht only a small portion of that was subject to the higher tax rate.

If you are to avoid death you need to understand that it isn't th flukes that kill you it is the subsequent damage they cause to the live that cam cause liver cancer. THere seem to be a lot of very confused ideas on this thread with people failing to identify how they can me made sick, and whether it is bacteria virus or parasite even that pose the danger. -

“Most Salmonella outbreaks are linked to contamination from post-harvest handling and transportation but the bacterium can enter the plant earlier from contaminated soil. Salmonella can reach the soil from manure containing animal feces or contaminated irrigation water.” - https://www.foodsafetynews.com/2019/01/researchers-uncover-how-salmonella-infects-plants-before-harvest/#:~:text=Most%20Salmonella%20outbreaks%20are%20linked,feces%20or%20contaminated%20irrigation%20water -

Salmonella bacteria are destroyed at or above 65C. veg can be contaminated but in a wok, everything is mixed together. THe whole point of "stir fry" is that it cooks at ultra-high temeratures which makes it safe. Obviously if the heat doesn't get through to the bacteria - wherever they are they will survive then mutliply in your gut and produce the toxins that make you sick. In the States there are examples of mass contamination of salads supplied to supermarkets and restaurants. The studies found no significant difference between "open market" and supermarkets. Salmonella was not the most common bacteria either. -

doesn't matter about when it died - Often trichinosis infected meats come from wild game, such as bear, as well as pork products. In the UK it hasn't been seen since the late 1970s. US more common. Cooking is the answer. -

THe diseases =referred to are cancer of the liver - not the 2 you mention - this is an extra disease that is way over the population norm... on top of other illnesses common to the rest of the country.. THe disease unlike smoking related diseases is causd by an organism that is treatable in iy=tself - yet they are not being diagnosed - this means the health service is failing to prevent a disease. -
