  1. By decree it is a 45 day rather than 30 days for us from USA and many countries until March 31 I think. Government trying to help tourism. You should have no issues with your trip plan.
  2. Yes it is true the k1 visa is not valid now. So old passport won't be needed. She does have a advance parole card which is also a temporary work permit. She has not got a green card yet. About 16 months in the works now. Oh advance parole is a stupid name for the thing that allows her to travel and return. For about 12 months before she got it if she had to leave say on a family emergency she would could the k1 and I think we would have had to apply for a CR1 to get her back to USA maybe 20 months later. Ubonjoe, are you staying we can apply online for her passport. She got an appointment for the day after we arrive. Really no benefit using a rural office on our travels. Can you get the new passport sent to a friend's address?
  3. Sounds like the consensus is she will allowed to fly to her home country. I don't doubt she can get a new passport during our trip. The question is . Do they really send out a new passport in 5 working days? Monday the 12th is a holiday. But won't need it until late December or be Jan for our Cambodian trip. Or return to USA late Jan. Her advance parole card should get her back in with a new passport.
  4. Yes her k1 visa is in current passport. No o didn't think of all these things. Will they take her old passport when she renews it? She says on Facebook they say she can use her employment authorization card to enter USA. It says on the front it serves as I -512 Advance parole. It says it is a form I-766. Looks like a official driver's license with Halo graphics security features up the wazzo
  5. Wife's passport expires Jan 10 23. We are taking a trip from USA to Thailand. She has a reservation at the renewal office in BKK Dec 9th. She says it will take only 5 days to get her passport mailed to her mom's isaan home? Will airlines let her travel with a passport that expires before our return flight to USA. Any other problems with this? TIA
  6. I'm afraid the noisy cars and bikes are a big thing in the USA. If these people just invested all this wasted money. I agree small dick syndrome. As if a girl is impressed?
  7. I'm thinking about using wise to send say 2-4k USD to wife's Thai account and then we can withdrawl to spend on our vacation in Thailand. She says her ATM withdrawals are free. Kasikorn is her bank. I want to run this idea past folks. Usually I arrive with enough to get to BKK and go to super rich in BKK to exchange. We will be all over Thailand and the ATM sounds like a good idea.
  8. So how are hotel prices for tourists compared to ore COVID? Lower?
  9. Well I was so depressed after looking for airfares Sunday morning that just seemed to go up every time I looked. Using a VPN and trying to clear my cookies but they still seemed to know. This morning ( Mon) I looked at kayak com. Trip advisor says it's one of the better sites. I always buy from airlines direct. And when I clicked to see the final price kayak took me to united and the price was unbelievable. 1550$ RT for 2 LAX to BKK - LAX. So coming for 48 days. Should be e a fun time. Now to book all the things like Airbnb, airport hotel on departure, leaning to flying to Cambodia and 3 days there. I really am fascinated by stonework. I guess I could always book a flight out of Thailand at day 44 right before checking in and then use the 24 hour cancel deal or the flight to siem reap. Airfares we're looking like 2000$ when I got so frustrated on Sunday and tossed in the towel. Thanks everyone.
  10. Reasonable airfares seem to disappear within hours if not minutes. Why does choosing flights have to be such a dreadful and bad experience? Yes, I was corrected, it's called visa exempt. I was thinking I could get a land border visa exempt as I crossed the Cambodia border? Not sure if we would fly or what transport yet. Is it possible to get a visa exempt at a crossing near anghor wat? I have never done that before. I did get an extension in BKK one time. 1900 baht not a big deal but wasting a good part of my day to get it was no fun. Thanks for the help. Can't plan to transit on a return flight from Cambodia because coming back to USA wifey has plans for 4 full big bags plus I will need the new 30 day ( or is it 45) visa exempt from a visa run. I can also look at planning the trip to be 44-45 days. Having a flight to Cambodia during the first 45 days would be the best I see. But we are not sure where we will be to fly from. Haven't made detail plans yet. Isn't it easy to get a new Visa exempt at a land crossing? Up to 2 each year. Yes I would have that return leg to USA to show them.
  11. I'm looking to come to Thailand in Dec for 45-55 days on visa on entry with Thai wife. We do plan to go to Angkor Wat during last 30 days of the trip. Just worried if my return ticket leaving Thailand is over the 45 days. Will say Delta or United let me board? It appears the Thai IOs don't care much. Airfare is looking pretty high compared to ore COVID. Haven't been in Thailand since 2020. TIA
  12. Could it be Thai people would abuse loose return policies? My wife can't believe how easy and fast it is to return things here in USA. Our home pro type stores have cracked down. Only 90 days for refund otherwise store credit. But no receipt required, just swipe the credit card used. Similar with food items. Wife couldn't believe I would return a bag or oranges or avacados to Costco if they were not good. Young Thai man here for 3-4 months job stint bought an electric bike and planned and did return it to Costco. Thai gal wanted to use my Costco membership to do similar after her bike was stolen. I did post an ad and a nice lady gave her a real nice 5 miles trek bike. I put in new tubes, gave her a good lock and cable, and told her to take it into work but a week later it too had the lock cut at a train station. Really sweet classic bike.
  13. I think personal data can be more revealing than website averages. My experience are: not sure Thai people reveal the truth about salary but I think I knew these people well enough. One gal smart, 45 ish, great English with Aussie accent, sounded like rich well connected dad. Borrowed 1 mil from dad and was in the loan shark biz up in CM. Was also a realtor. Had nice house, car, 3 kids, well traveled, loved fine food. She also had some permission to buy up government land that was for sale and then divide the land and sell it. She has plenty of money but I never got a figure. 45 yr old School director, masters degree. 45k/ mo around Udon thanni. She was in serious debt. Confirmed how expensive it was to buy a position in a big city or desirable location. Was treated like royalty somewhat. For a school week long athletic competition we picked up 100k cash at government office. She easily could have kept most of that. Lots of paid dinners, events, travel to cities for classes on government dime. From what I learned directior at that school before her had scheduled lots of maintenance for the grounds. Complete new long drive and drainage, painting, etc. I'm sure there was kickback for him. So he had funds to buy into a more lucrative school. Medical office receptionist: 22k/ mo 6 10 hour days, BKK. Retired govt nurse. Pension 24k/ moved to Phuket and was doing shift work at resorts. Really cool deal. She could input her desired days off for 2 months in future. From 0-30. She could choose day shifts 1000 baht or 24 hour shifts 2000. I learned resorts like Panwa with over a certain number of guests have to have on staff nurses. I got to lounge around these resorts all day. Night times were usually not to busy and she had cots to sleep on. Each morning she had to submit a detailed report on illnesses. I was impressed. She said tracking food illnesses was important. She had quite an extensive medical cabinet. I think the resort charged for this care and pills. And made money on this clinic. She worked an average of 15 shifts a month so 40k. She also had to do a drive by stop at a local food market. She got 500 baht quickly by whichever family member was working. Some type of loan deal I didn't get details on. Food service worker at top 10 hotels in BKK, pastry chef, and set up and break down for the ever ongoing meeting halls. This hotel had like 10 big areas with movable walls. It was a terrible job from what I learned. Some rooms needed breakdown and set up 3 times in a day so this was a 24 hour job. Seemed to work 80- 100 hours a week. They had a tight schedule and drawings of new setups. Seemed quite organized. They had rooms these hard workers could catch some sleep in. She made 22k but had no life and worked harder than any person should. A receptionist at a BKK flooring co. Made 45 k / mo. English good, attractive. School teacher with Dr, art teacher, school nurse NE BKK 80 I'm. Made 65k. I saw a list of salaries and many teachers over 55k. So I think salaries for government teachers really vary. Her school won some type of art completion and she got big bonus. She had 2 houses, a house lot, truck, no debt. 50.
  14. I haven't seen any video. Missing info: How sexy Thai gal? Drug test results Thai man? Car damage? I say the Thai gal and car guys had a verbal exchange, Thai guy a bit <deleted> and jealous. Kicks nice car which results in a fight, he lost. Big bucks forth coming because falange always pay.
  15. You can't believe all the kids and adults in America with these motorized scooters and single wheels going so fast with no protection. Around the neighborhood or on busy streets. It scares me to see these beautiful young girls in the neighborhood going so fast with no protection. I worry they will fall and lose teeth, and have major lifelong scars. Sometimes I see these one wheel people on bike trails, some areas have signs saying no 9ne wheels. And there are little kids under 10 riding these electric motorbikes on the sidewalks and streets. Cops always came when I rode my Honda 50 anywhere on the street or sidewalks. It's ok for their kids to do this illegal activity but if they smelled you smoking a joint they would call the cops
  16. Thanks for reply. I thought it was 45 days " visa exempt". But the thaievisa website isn't updated to do this. Surprise surprise. When your looking to visit as a tourist it asks what is your country, then where you reside, then how many days you plan to visit. If you put 31-44 days it still says you need tourist visa.
  17. If I do apply for a e visa I guess I could just book a flight and send in a scan of the confirmation page, then cancel within 24 hours. And rebook as my visa is approved and plans are firmed up? They also want proof of is it 40k baht in a bank account. Do I just print out a recent e-statement and send that in. So far I have read the specific form these required documents must be.
  18. Planning a trip longer than 30days maybe up to 59 days. I am wanting to avoid wasting a day to go to an immigration office to extend for 1900 baht. I have been searching because I thought a 45 day VOE was in place for 6 months? I've created an account to apply for a 60 day tourist visa if needed but that requires proof of a prepaid flight which is ok unless you pick an economy flight ( which I usually do) with a change fee. I do plan to visit Cambodia to see angor wat. So I assume as long as I do that trip within the first 30 days I can get another 30 days upon my return border crossing. As I understand it if I have a SETV and leave the country it voids that. Oh the reason for the trip is wife has been away 18 months and I plan to slow cook 2 pigs and buy booze for a village wedding.
  19. Rid Thailand of loose dogs. Thinking they are sacred lowers my respect for the person or religion with this belief.
  20. Compared to the Caribbean and my limited Thailand diving ( Pattaya, koh phi phi, Phucket) in Thailand, it rates very low. Been overfished and blown up! Wild fishing? Nope I can believe bars would be the goal of some guys.
  21. If the rescue workers thought it was gory I don't want to imagine the bloody scene.
  22. Happy wife happy life. Sounds like a good gig you 2 have.
  23. You guys are so harsh without hearing her voice or seeing the pictures he saw. The penalty for any online scammers needs to approach life in prison or the firing wall.
  24. I had an old Casio watch with a barometric altitude feature. It seems very accurate in terms of my walking. I used it to follow terrain at 1 level where conditions seemed right for elk to bed and also mushroom foraging. Seemed to indicate just a couple steps down the hill. Also fairly accurate on real elevation when I checked to local weather station and set the barometric pressure. But like everyone else has suggested flooding has a lot more to it than elevation. I took surveying in college and they sell handheld levels. A sighting device that has a level bubble and crosshairs so you could look across terrain to known elevations or previous flood lines. Soil type is also a factor. And also what if landowner below you decides to truck in 3 meters of fill. Which seems to be his right in Thailand. Or builds a wall. Siteline2.5x is one example. Or get an auto leveling one and sturdy tripod.
  25. The fare increase is fair with riding costs with the stated caveat that not taking a fare will be punished. All you people who have so much cash you have always ripped big and never worried about no flag are how this problem got bigger. My wife who lived in BKK 20 years always expects to have to tell the drivers where to and expects a 50% rejection rate. I recall on time at terminal 21 we got rejected 3 times by a taxi before one took us. It didn't make sense to me as the taxi took off losing his place in the que. This happened so often all over thonglor area. Since Thailand relies on tourists it seems it's most important that these areas are patrolled until taxis offer a good image to Thailand.
