  1. It sounds a lot like some simply don't like guns and want them banned. This means their arguments don't fully make sense and even if one is disproven, they simply search for another.
  2. "I'd like to claim that British people are bad because I'm mad that this survey makes Thai people look bad." - whataboutism. British people learning Thai is in no way comparable to Thais learning English. Thais learn English from kindergarten and it is a necessary global language. Brits encounter Thai mostly as adults (some of advanced years) and rarely need it for career success.
  3. English will help a lot in those countries. Many people there will speak at least a little. It's a very useful language and most countries make an effort to get their citizens speaking it. Why lie? Just because you're sore about Thailand's score?
  4. So keep the locals as they are because we think it's quaint? I guess it's good to put a positive spin on things, but this should not be something to celebrate. Particularly as the government claims to be addressing it and Thai students actually learn English from kindergarten, through high school and generally university. Thailand shouldn't be close to Haiti and the DPR Congo.
  5. Doesn't look that clear. The restaurant is pretty close to the sand. Also, what is encrotchment? Is it similar to encroachment?
  6. I'm not one of these "you're a guest in the country" types, but at least be nice to your neighbours if you're on years of overstay! Maybe he's gone a bit senile.
  7. He might have been asymptomatic and died of a heart attack.
  8. On the contrary. It's extremely important, when using statistics to discuss "how deadly" covid is, that you have the full picture of the circumstances of the victims. Particularly if those stats then inform policy. "Look how many people are dying from covid" is a lot different from "look how many otherwise healthy people are dying from covid". The healthier the people are that are dying, the more dangerous the virus is. It is obviously sad that anyone dies, and older people and people with co-morbidities are not "disposable", but when using stats we need to be honest.
  9. How many lives that would have been saved by an "assault weapon" would then not be saved if they were banned though?
  10. Your review listed the best hunting rifles. The lack of semi-autos only suggests that the best hunting rifles happen to be bolt-action. So you envisage every rifle other than single-shot bolt-action types being banned? Not just scary black ones with pistol grips and collapsing stocks?
  11. And these rifles are designed for hunting. All semi-auto. ????‍♂️ https://www.browning.com/products/firearms/rifles/semi-auto.html
  12. They were. You can get semi-auto hunting rifles. Just google them. Hunting rifles are simply rifles designed for hunting.
  13. Stephen Crowder set up a stall with some hunting rifles and some "assault weapon" rifles, then asked the public how they felt about them. The public mostly said that the black "military style" rifles should be banned, but the hunting rifles were OK. They were pretty much the exact same weapons.
  14. Since I'm pretty sure that you can get semi-auto hunting rifles, I would imagine that only magazine capacity would make a different. Obviously a 5-shot mag is going to cause a much slower rate of fire than a 30-shot mag. If you can get a 30-shot semi-auto hunting rifle, it's probably not going to be that different. Perhaps people would opt for an "assault style" rifle due to manoeuvrability, but would simply opt for a hunting rifle were the former to be banned somehow.
  15. Most hunting weapons are more powerful than handguns. This is meaningless. Myth Assault weapons are actually a thing that you can ban. Fact There is no such thing as an assault weapon and most features can be found on weapons that would never be categorised as an "assault weapon". It's just political hot air. If you want to limit certain specific things, like calibre, rifle length, magazine capacity, etc., you will better be able to put an argument together. But people like to say "assault weapon" because it triggers an emotional response.
  16. Yeah, I think they get all the teachings when they are young, then just go to make merit. Maybe some monks have TV or Facebook broadcasts where they tell people how to live, or people ordain and get some teaching that way.
  17. Possibly expected to provide some sort of sexual services for the men in exchange for money. Maybe they thought she would have a lot of cash on her. A cruel thing to do just to try and get a few Baht.
  18. Interesting use of military terminology (front line) before whinging about having to conform to a uniform. ????‍♂️ Sorry to be the barer of bad news, but when you're at work you are not free. ????‍♂️
  19. Headline: Chinese man arrested for allegedly stealing jobs from Thais Truth: Chinese mam arrested for working without a work permit
  20. I really don't understand why anyone would demand to know the name of a victim of any crime, or why they would object to them having privacy. I'm wondering if that user confused the word "victim" with "suspect"? Unusual comment otherwise.
  21. It isn't. We can change our minds. Doesn't matter. Or continue to say we should re-join because of the disastrous economic consequences? OK, sure! "Stop pointing out how wrong we were to leave and asking for the damage to be reversed." How about no???
