  1. What's the Thai embassy like there for issuing visas?
  2. I don't think missing out on the above will leave anyone culturally starved. Barely even peckish.
  3. A lot of Thais have had Sinovac. This was not particularly effective against the previous variant and less so against Omicron. The Thais that had Sinovac really need a booster.
  4. I saw a figure of 95% of those with covid not needing any treatment. That must be the cases that are known. Add to that asymptomatic and mild cases that are not reported and you must get a figure in the very high 90s. Whilst we should not let our guard down too much and keep vulnerable people safe, JFC if now isn't the time to get your booster and open up, when is?!! "Zero covid" is going to finish this country off.
  5. I wonder if the issue it the quality of the initial vaccines. Booster are only at 30%. Who knows how much actual protection there is in Thailand.
  6. "Exemption from quarantine" While many countries are moving to zero restrictions, Thailand is still talking like it's a privilege to not spend two weeks in quarantine.
  7. Obviously I cannot dispute the accuracy of the facts in the posts of the user you are quoting. I don't know them personally. But I will say that their posts are definitely a bit "out there".
  8. Not sure if I'd class one of their services not being completely inoperable for a change as being "highly efficient". Perhaps the bar has sunk somewhat for you.
  9. Well, if two hit men were able to come to Thailand, acquire two pistols, stalk and kill a known criminal, then escape, the facts don't really support this claim.
  10. Open the country up before it's too late. Obviously the lack of tourism is going to be a big factor here as the money spent in the tourist areas feeds out to the rest of the country. You can't allow a country to grow to a certain population size and then remove a fifth of its income without drastic consequences. Stop dilly dallying, let the foreign booze bags and whore mongers back in, and watch these problems go away. I realise the higher ups don't like the reputation Thailand has, but without providing a new revenue stream they can either let the tourists back in or watch their people starve. Three meals away from revolution, etc..
  11. Big demand for magic money trees in Thailand. Reliance on tourism backed subsidies for too long?
  12. I'm not sure if you're from the UK or not, but I can assure you there are plenty of foreign hairdressers and barbers there. The list of prohibited professions in Thailand is nothing like the UK. It is discrimination.
  13. I thought this was about prohibited occupations? No one has suggested that work permits are unusual or discriminatory.
  14. No one has mentioned level of skill. Prohibited jobs to foreigners are prohibited no matter what your skill level. And what you have listed isn't discrimination and bias. The UK is nothing like Thailand in this regard.
  15. No. That is your opinion. How about Russia's annexation of The Crimea, or plans for other former Soviet states? Encroaching ok the border of Georgia and so on? How does NATO figure into that?
  16. What do they expect? Even the briefest of glances over Thailand's history when it comes to taking sides is that they don't. They will be ambiguous and then claim to support (and to always have supported) whichever side wins.
  17. With 70% having received their first two jabs (a figure that doesn't seem to be rising much) and 30% having had a booster, depending on what those first two jabs were, it's not much of a reach to suggest that the total number of people actually protected from Omicron lies somewhere between 30-70%. Maybe in the middle? 50%? No wonder they're scared.
  18. Another option is to withdraw from the Ukraine.
  19. I think Crimea was a little more complicated. Although I'm sure it was mostly manufactured by Russia, it did have the feel of a civil war about it, which countries generally don't get involved in unless there are war crimes or genocide.. The invasion of The Ukraine is quite different.
  20. They seem to be sticking to the "covid bad; isolate positives; keep numbers as low as possible" way of seeing things.
  21. What if the vaccines used weren't good enough and have left Thai people very vulnerable to Omicron?
  22. Seems that with an increase in confirmed numbers of 557%* with an increase in serious cases of 74%, it isn't too serious. (*Wondering what the confirmed numbers would be, 1000%? 2000%?)
  23. The difference is that some result in strong and happy families while others lead to miserable and lonely "consumers".
