  1. Best options for your are credit card;

    Halifax Clarity
    Creation Everyday
    Santander Zero
    Barclaycard Platinum Travel

With those you can withdraw cash over the bank counter at no charge, though watch out for certain banks trying to cheat you.

If you have problems with credit, unable to get another credit card, then debit/prepaid cards are what you have left.

So ATM charges will be unavoidable, but at least you'll get the full Mastercard rate without deductions.

    Candidates;

    Starling Bank   Full banking facilities

    Loot.io

    Monzo

At least you can seek out ATM with minimal charges. AEON and if within reach; Bank of China.

I have not sent money to Thailand but sending to Europe and the States direct from my UK bank has been expensive in the past. It's not always the fees - often it's the crappy exchange rate they give you. If you are sending £ then I guess it's the Thai bank's rate you'd need to look at, but I can't see that being much better. If you use an online money transfer service you can usually save quite a bit.

It is likely cheaper to use the likes of Transferwise.

Nevertheless, check the TT rates here: http://bankexchangerates.daytodaydata.net

Not really bothered... even if I am lucky enough to find an English speaker, they probably stuff it up anyway or just lie to me.

It's good to get useful feedback here.

When you call through to TRUE, I'm sure there is an option to select an English speaking operator.

Wow... sounds like an awesome deal. Will try to activate this today.

VAT being added sounds like a postpaid deal though? I hope not.

All prepaid packages are +VAT. It's also non recurring if I remember. correctly. So you need to remember to re-apply it, otherwise you could use up remaining credit on a per MB basis.

I just tried that wanting to switch from TOURIST SIM to a regular Thai package. No go. The access number to do it 9305 doesn't work and when I phoned them True told me the number is FIXED to TOURIST status for ever! I can extend for 90 days repeatedly.

    Now we know....

All the Thai press so far are reporting that it was a dispute over the 10 Baht toilet charge and make no mention of the 'covert filming of the girls in the toilet' accusation.
However, there are several Thai comments on the Youtube clip that do mention the real cause was the boy Abdullah secretly filming the girls in the toilet and the farang took revenge when he found out.
Thai Manager online reported more on the story 3 hours ago. The 10 year-old 'boy', Abdullah Saeseha, is in fact 20 years-old.
Investigating officer Police Lieutenant Colonel Somsak Thongkhliang from Patong police station said the assailant was a 34 year old American ('Chris' - assumed name) who had sought treatment at Patong hospital after the attack. He had then departed Thailand from Phuket airport on 4th May, the day after the attack.
Somsak continued that no complaint had been made to the police from Adullah or his familly and details of the attack had initially come to light after the clip was posted to Facebook by Tohee Seesa (Abdullah's father) on the 3rd May offering a 5000 Baht reward for information about the identity of the assailant.
Police said if Abdullah wishes to file a compliant he should come to Patong Police station and do so.

At the time of going to press, Thai Manager online had tried to contact Tohee Seesa via the two telephone contact numbers left in his Facebook post, but the calls remained unanswered.

Seems the boy made a connection with the knife.

Yes, it is just the surrounds that have deteriorated plus the acoustic foam which "shields" the 2 drivers and tweeter under the front cover as per my OP image.
I could buy foam here I expect and cut a new "shield" or maybe just remove the existing deteriorating foam altogether.

I was just looking at Simply Speakers in the U.S.  Seems a kit to repair mine ( I might do both drivers)  would be $US25 plus postage.

Interesting, I wonder if I would have attempted to repair my AR foam surrounds if I had known I could have purchased a repair kit. i just replaced the units. But the woofers I purchased were of inferior quality.

TOT provide the land line......and they were the Internet supplier.....

As with many people the Internet was sporadic, so that was the reason I was persuaded to finish with them and go down the mobile route (by guess who)

What I could use is some unbiased recommendations by someone who has more knowledge and experience of these issues

We do have TOT for land line calls.....and some cable companies have recently run services along the lane outside my property

Any advice will be most welcome

    Thanks for your interest

    http://www.9tana.com/node/true-4mbps-come-back/

450 baht plus VAT for unlimited Internet at a maximum of 4Mbps.

You can use that as a stopgap until you find something better.

For me, it's about price and timings. Therefore BA wins easily, although a few years ago it was EVA.

    No, no, no, no.

I'm British and support BA when I can, but no.  Boeing 777 with a 31" seat pitch. and a 17.5" width. Cannot. :)

THAI has two flights per day to BA's one.

EVA flies the 777, but has a 33" seat pitch with an 18.3" width.

Don't know BA can even win on timings unless their flight time suits you in particular.

I flew with THAI to New Zealand recently, so have flown  the LON-BKK-LON route. Would happily do so again.

BA is my preference on some routes,  London to LA on their A380 for example. But they wouldn't be my first choice for London to Bangkok in Economy.

There's always one, isn't there?

Have a good flight mrblonde and enjoy your holiday.

Yes. At least one who provides an intelligent and thought through reply. Thank goodness for that.

Your reply was completely irrelevant to the question. Which is why the OP chose EVA and not Qatar or Emirates.

    Have a nice day.

It's a pre-paid package, not an add-on, it auto-renews... I think... I switch my pre-paid to this promo and then it deducts 99+vat a week unless Im mistaken? I have no other fees beyond costs outside of package allowance. Addons are listed on a seperate page.  I have a prepaid ais number.

This is correct. The only issue is if you don't have enough credit when payment is due.

    • If your account balance is too low to cover the weekly service fee, the service rate will be readjusted to 1.06 Baht/minute for all network calls, 24 hours a day and 1.06 Baht/MB for data usage.
