  1. The pump has a small bladder tank attached. I don't know where you would buy a new one but the tech manual recommends replacement for the symptom. The tech manual also recommends not adjusting the pressure switch (and if you do adjust it any warrantee would be voided). If I can find a replacement I will report back whether it fixes the problem or not.

Okay thanks, I thought you had changed the bladder tank, I just re-read your first post and realised you hadn’t changed it only referring to it as a possible problem, sorry, my bad !

Yes, although annoying I don’t think it’s that bad, possibly affects the life of the pump though so would be grateful if you do find a tank, I’ll have a look around also .
  2. No it does not run constantly, but when it is running the pressure varies up and down. As soon as a faucet or toilet is flushed the pump kicks on and runs until the flow stops (just the pressure is not steady).

    Ok thanks.

Can I ask you where you bought the bladder tank ?

That’s got to be the prime suspect as there is nowhere ( that I can see ) to drain water or air, only the hopper for priming, which I guess once it’s up and running is not necessary to mess with .

The pressure switch I’ve never touched so would be unlikely, IMO, that the pressure needs adjusting.
  3. Have / had the same problem and have isolated the problem to a couple of cheap plumbing fixtures.  Specifically any that mix hot and cold water at the discharge point.

The expensive shower fixture in the main bath does not cause a pulse, but the cheaper one in the guest bath does.  Replaced the cheap one and it's no longer pulsing.

But have noticed that the main bath fixture pulses if not opened fully, which leads me to believe these problems stem from lousy packing in the fixtures since the expensive one is showing it's age

I would try and isolate the problem before proceeding further

I guess that problem is related to the amount of water flow.
For example: a large shower head will call for a larger volume of water causing the pump to run constantly whereas with a cheaper/smaller shower head the volume will be too much causing the pump to pulse ( on a few secs off a few secs).

This is where my question is based:

Should the pump pressure remain constant and pulse on and off depending on volume requirements ??

Or should the pressure adjust automatically to compensate for different volumes requirements and the pump run constantly ?? ( I guess that’s where the bladder comes in to adjust for varying volumes as in Ahabs post ?? ).
  4. Look at the rubber flap on the cisterns of your toilets if they are leaking like mine they cause the pump to turn on and off to compensate [emoji848]

Thanks but I meant when a tap opened/ toilet flushes/shower running etc the pump runs intermittently and not constantly ( as I think it did before).

When no water is being used the pump stays off I.e. all night.

  5. I have the same pump, with the same issues. Our pump issues started after our tank ran dry one day. Kind of annoying but not a big issue. It probably has something to do with the pressure regulator or more likely the bladder tank. The manual says to replace the bladder tank.

Thanks Ahab, does your pump run constantly now even opening one tap or flushing a toilet etc ?
  6. Not sure if I have a problem or not really, but here goes.

Have lived in this house for nearly 2 years now, the pump, tank and pipe work was fitted just before we moved in .

I have noticed that the next door neighbours pump pulses ( 2 sec on 2 sec off ) when I assume he is showering.

Ours never did that, or I never noticed it anyway, pump always on.

This week had tiling done outside and lifted the pump and tank by 10” onto a steel frame, pipe work modified for height but exactly same as before.

Now when showering I can hear the pump pulsing ( 3 sec on 3 sec off ) something I never noticed before, if another tap is opened or toilet flushes the pump stays on constantly.

I mentioned it to the gf , she said that now that the pump is on the steel frame it is louder ( which it is ) and nothing has changed. ( will also look at some rubber material to reduce the pump noise, steel frame has rubber feet).

It does seem logical that the pump delivers more water required for just the shower hence it turns on and off and stays constant when an additional tap open/toilet flushes calls for more water.

Or am I missing something obvious here, as the pump and tank were drained to lift them do I need to prime the pump or something of this nature. ??

Am convinced that it has changed since lifting up !!

Couple of photos of the pump.

  7. Not for us Brits, I think! If they kicked off on the Falklands again we'd almost certainly find ourselves extremely unpopular with the natives (to put it mildly)!

Last time I visited there ( late 90’s ) there was a big billboard as you exited the airport which read
“ las malvinas son nuestras “ ( the Falklands are ours ) with a map showing the location and it’s proximity to Argentina .

Not the best of welcomes !!

  8. Hi,

I'll continue to post my journey because I don't really have anyone else that gives a s*hit and hopefully what I share us useful.

I've not had my teeth cleaned in over 6 months.   It is nice I could pop into a 24 hour dentist and get a full exam and thorough cleaning by a dental doctor.   She did a good job.  I might have gotten it cheaper if I would have found a regular clinic and scheduled an appointment.

Anyway,  it cost me 88 dollars U.S..   i don't have dental insurance in the USA and any dentist will want to demand on advanced xrays, etc. At least 300 dollars.

I trust this doctor.  She and her staff went out of their way to help me.  Nobody spoke English.   I used Google translate to fill out my new patent form.

Now the bad news.  All those 20 plus year old filling I had replaced (necessary) in 2011? Four have broken down.   Did you know composite fillings only last 5 to 6 years? Geez.  Trying to get ahead financially and now this.  Well, it could be a lot worse.   Here in CDMX I can get xrays and replacement filling for 1/4 what it would cost me in the USA.

Bottom line? Life and taking care of your health does not stop just because you change countries you live in.

Oh, the poster that commented on the TV forum and it's quality over other expat forums? Your right on.  For the most part, I have found them useless.

Pressing on.  No choice.  Not willing to jump in the volcano,  just yet. [emoji849]

    Keep going Captain !!

It’s interesting comparing prices and quality from one country to the next.
You have a great opportunity to explore the city, and the country, and find out if it’s really for you.
Don’t jump the gun and commit too early , you know what happened last time [emoji51].

    It’s interesting watching your journey.
I have a great affinity with SA, well Brazil, Argentina and Chile, and I worked in Mexico a lot and traveled to a few places, found it to be a great country with great people !!
I ventured into CDMX a few times, as was nearby in Toluca, and found it a great ( immense ) city, although I do have to say that the traffic and the black smoke being pumped out by those old buses ( air pollution in general ) would make me think twice about living there .

I wish you well Captain and sincerely hope you find your paradise !!

  9. I've currently got an application in progress for the yellow book (and pink id card). I'm on non-o retirement.

My local office sent off to immigration for a record of my entries and stays in the Kingdom. I'd never heard of this requirement before and they showed me a page of another applicant as to what they were needing. They made no mention of the qualifying criteria. See attached. Apparently it takes a month to get this. Has anyone else encountered this requirement? I thought at first they were slowing things in expectation of tea money but gf says not.

This is in Phyathai in Bangkok. They don't speak English there and are not very helpful. I own my own condo.

    They wanted following documents/coppies:
Passport certified by embassy, translated and certified by MFA, visa, tm6, land register, property purchase contract, 2 independent witnesses (took gf and condo manager). Letter from condo management company saying I lived there. Existing blue book for the condo (I got this when purchased but of course, it has no names). Bank book and statements.

They've had all the above but can't issue the yellow book until hearing back from immigration.

Has anyone else been asked to wait for a report from immigration as below regarding entries and stays?

As is the norm here differing rules depending on the Amphur you visit.

Mine ( Bang Pa In ) asked for Passport certified copy from British Embassy then translated at MFA , then added Birth certificate translated at MFA.
Then !! , wanted my Decree Nisi certified at Embassy then translated at MFA.
Here I drew the line and decided not to proceed as couldn’t face another Embassy appointment and travel into BKK.

No mention of the immigration record but that was surely to come along with anything the headman could think of to hinder my progress.

The value of the yellow book and pink card is debatable ( and indeed has been debated many times on here).

It can be as easy as walking in with your passport or can cost you an arm and a leg ( in time and money ), or, of course, any variable in between.
