  1. This guy explains how to remove that annoying whirring sound ( starts around the 7.45 minute mark ).
  2. Watching the CCTV shown on the news it appears she was distracted by the raising barrier and didn’t see the guy crouched almost underneath it. But , yes, seems hard to believe she wasn’t aware that she was driving over a body. Quite harrowing to see the guy writhing in agony from under her car until he died shortly after.
  3. Honda HRV EV due in Thailand this year: Standard range : 53.6kWh battery, range 420 km Long range : 68.8 kWh battery, range 510 km Expected price range 1.2/1.3 million baht after government discount. Based on the current HRV with slight changes. https://autolifethailand.tv/honda-enp1-ens1-ev-bev-thailand-mou/?fbclid=IwAR0zmokuPMjAdU2MVN0jY0T0uSU3-mlKnKuN7OpELdt1PwuOjG9JSnQiITA Made in Thailand but unlikely to be seen before towards the end of 2023.
  4. Thanks for that. The MG app for my ICE is quite basic and only realistically being able to start the air con remotely is any use , although a poster has stated he used it to start his car once a week from oseas . Used it a couple of times to pre-cool the car remotely imagining it was then just a case of approaching the car , unlocking and driving away but it wasn’t that simple and I lost interest in the app. On an EV the app should be more useful. The voice commands also, being in Thai only, are quite limited on an MG, after using them once as a test they also became redundant. It was this video that perked my interest on voice commands available on as Atto 3, hence my question, I could see myself using the “ aircon up one “ “ “set aircon to 25 degrees “ or “ find a charge station nearby “ after seeing this video. But I do understand, there’s an awful lot of tech on these Chinese EV’s and using apps and voice controls are probably best put on the back burner until more familiarity with the car is gained. Seeing only positive reviews with this car so far and it has got to be a big contender against MG and GWM especially when the Thailand factory comes on line.
  5. Excellent report @BKKBike09 . Just a couple of questions: Is the Sat Nav available in English and are Apple Carplay and Android Auto ( wired ) available ? (not available on early released models but promised to be coming soon ). Is there an app ? ( useful for cooling car remotely but probably very useful for monitoring/controlling charging ). Just watched a YouTube video ( either AUS or NZ ) and there’s an impressive amount of voice commands, are voice commands available in English ? ( both MG and GWM voice commands are only in Thai I believe ).
  6. Applying for an O visa is 2,000 baht, an extension is 1,900 baht, nothing untoward there. Multi re-entry permit is 3,800 baht.
  7. More likely rushed the release of the car to compete with the increasing EV market. Unsure at the moment if the bulge is entirely caused by misaligned fixing holes in the plastic undertray or there is additional heating causing warping . The fixing bolts are reportedly M10 threads so should have been picked up if manually fitted, assuming they are fitted by automation.
  8. Have researched quite a bit on the MG4 through some Fb groups and YouTube reviews, it has been around since Sept 2022 in the U.K. so plenty of info available. It would appear actual range for the bigger battery is 425km ( 265 miles ) and 350km ( 218 miles ) for the smaller battery which is what will be available here in Thailand, but still okay imo. ( obviously these figures are only a guide and driver dependent ). A couple of early issues: Oil leak from the gearbox has been fixed by a new breather pipe. Some owners find themselves locked in their car with no way out other than scrambling out the boot ! has been fixed with an update needing a dealership visit. Some distortion of the rear undertray has been identified as misalignment of the tray and bolt holes making a “ bulge “ and an opening in which wind and water etc can enter . A new undertray is being trialled apparently but owners are asked to return to the dealership in the short term to check for loose or missing bolts.
  9. Anyone have any idea when the Government EV incentive will end ?
  10. Yes, didn’t you read the op ?? Yes, plenty of COD available from China .
  11. That’s the Jolion, slightly smaller sister to H6 , my favourite at the moment. Lacks the turbo engine of the H6 and only available ( in Thailand ) in HEV . Online user groups stating problems with fuel consumption as the biggest issues , can achieve some healthy 20+ km/l figures but some conservative driving procedures have to be adopted. I’m in hope that a Jolion PHEV will be in the pipeline. Looks stunning in white and currently has sold out in white colour.
  12. Yes, that’s my point, there’s a lot of stuff for the 100k but have to put up with the, imo, bad taste interior .
  13. Sticking with the MG4 for a minute. Plenty of reviews on YouTube and mostly very positive regarding price, range, quality and general driving comfort . Negative points are few with average boot space and no designated area for cable storage being the greatest but most reviewers saddened to see lack of rear armrest, no usb port behind r/v mirror ( great for dashcam and frees up the other USB ports ) , grab handles, settings ( drive mode, regen strength etc ) not being saved upon restarting and NO rear wiper ( MG claims the angle or rear window makes it unnecessary ? ). The two models available here ( X and D ) don’t have sunroofs and the price difference ( 100k baht ) is made up by lack of Sat Nav, 360 degree camera, reversing camera, interior trim level, V2L , some of the safety features ( ADAS etc ) and no smart app connection. Also a rather OTT spoiler on the rear, an additional blue colour choice and all X models have a black roof ( the latest fashion accessory ???? ). As is usual with the chinese cars available in Thailand the top of the range models get a “ special “ two tone interior which is not always to everyone’s taste , my ZS ICE is okay but I would have preferred a more conservative colour coordination. So the D level misses out on the above features but does have a plain black interior and is 100K cheaper while the X level gets all the bells and whistles but you have to contend with this : Would much prefer the plain seating but it’s a lot to give up, despite saving 100k , especially V2L and the cameras, the Sat Nav can always be overridden with Apple Carplay or Android Auto but judging by my current MG Sat Nav it’s a really nice option to have. I’m a big fan of the GWM and MG cars but i just wish their idea of luxury didn’t have to include 3 or 4 colours !! Hate to fit seat covers but sometimes you just have to !!
  14. The op @localexpat, needs to return here to explain what he means by this : ” I need to re-apply for my Retirement Visa. I am in Thailand now and believe I need to leave Thailand to get a Type O visa “ Reading between the lines I would guess that the op had a previous O visa based on retirement ( a retirement visa doesn’t exist ), and possibly extensions also. That visa/extension has expired and he now has returned to Thailand, visa exempt or tourist visa and would like to apply for a new O visa, in both instances can be done without leaving the country. Some clarification from the op will help others to assist.
  15. Not to be outdone, here’s my “ arra’s “ . The set on the right travelled with me for many years and saw a little action in some US bars. The set on the left were rescued from my dad’s house clearance a few years ago and although had seen some action in the dining room ( not a typical dining scene in our household, I believe we had a foreigner visiter that day and mum wanted to impress ) were resting from their tough life in the tap room of The Angel, Baildon in the late 70’s.
  16. The plot sounds a little like The Staircase (2022): Colin Firth stars as Michael Peterson in this true story. Michael, successful crime writer and budding politician, calls 911 claiming his wife had fallen down the stairs and is now not breathing. But when the police arrive the scene tells another story. Dragged a little in the middle with the French film connection but otherwise very good. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11324406/ Alternatively , a documentary series with the real people. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0388644/ As viewed by French film makers.
  17. I did read that there are 3 regen settings for the Haval cars but not sure if those option settings are available in One Pedal mode.
  18. Apply for the O visa at the immigration office where you are living, if you are staying in Bangkok then that will be Chaeng Wattana.
  19. The lack of English language on the Sat Nav is a bit of a set back , although wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can be used to run Google maps from the phone on the info screen. Presumably this is true of the H6 and Jolion HEV’s also ? Somewhat surprised as these cars , or similar versions of them, have been available in Australia for some time, I’m guessing that only one language is available. Presumably @Gweiloman , it’s only the Sat Nav that doesn’t support English and the system itself can be changed to English ?
  20. Thanks @Gweiloman I swore I would never have another black car after a Ford Orion in the early 80’s, but I did buy a black Citroen in the late 90’s , they are the best looking colour but never again . Most of your complaints are common to the H6/Jolion range especially the lack of buttons to change stuff quickly requiring navigation on the screen while driving, changing air conn settings etc. Short seat bottom with no tilt Settings not being saved and cannot be adjusted on the move. Mud flaps aren’t common here but pretty sure I’ve seen them available on Shopee. The adaptive cruise control braking on bends and one pedal lack of brake light also frequently mentioned. So many safety features ( ADAS, WDS etc ) but a lot of them are overly intrusive and not suitable for Thai war zone driving experience. The MG and GWM seems like a very similar system with speech control and the app etc, on MG can use English for sat Nav and the whole system, only the voice control is in Thai. That’s a big disadvantage for you I guess, on my MG I had to go into sat Nav settings to eliminate a lot of unnecessary warnings bells, but it does save my saved and favourite places. I guess a manual in English is out of the question. Still my favourite at the moment despite these issues and still kinda hoping for a Jolion PHEV in the near future. Enjoy your ride .
  21. Detectorists Special available on iPlayer. Lance and Andy, and the rest , return as the eternally optimistic pairing set off on another trail to discover buried treasure in the ploughed tracks and open fields of England’s green and pleasant land .
  22. Thanks Owl for another year of Isaan entertainment, hope the coming year is good to all of us and a prosperous new year abounds for all readers and posters of this thread ( f#ck the rest of them ???? ).
  23. Thanks for the report @Gweiloman , was wondering if you had taken charge of the H6 PHEV yet ( hopefully you can update us with a report on the car at a later date ). I’ll leave comments on your woes to the more learned posters.
  24. If you return visa exempt you will receive 45 days, when you still have more than 15 days remaining visit immigration to apply for an O visa ( valid for 90 days). You will need 800k in a Thai bank on the day you apply. If successful you will be asked to return around 15 days later ( possibly even the last day of your visa exempt stay ) to receive your O visa stamp . With around 30 days of your O visa remaining return to immigration to apply for an extension based on retirement (?), normal requirements will be requested similar to your OA extensions only no insurance necessary. Immigration may possibly request a home visit when you apply for the O visa .
