  1. Will be a good test for the new manager and to be honest Leeds should win this easily, Cardiff were close to the bottom at end of last season. Not sure if the men here treat their ladies as they claim !! “ treat em mean, keep em keen “ is a fantasy for most fellas I’m sure and usually said down the pub when the lady of the house is not present !
  2. Another great Sunday post Owl. Seems like things are back to business, hopefully peace is restored to the Owl household.
  3. Watched this and liked it . The unlikely pilgrimage of Harold Fry, a lovely feel good movie with some sad moments. The great Jim Broadbent stars as Harold who embarks in a crazy spur of the moment journey but perhaps he is trying to make amends for something missing from his past ? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14097206/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk
  4. They have been removed, whether temporary or permanent i am not sure, seems like some were abusing the signature option to further their agendas ! There was a thread about it around a week ago.
  5. So, any new EV launch has to have a couple of gimmicks up its sleeve to attract new buyers nowadays, some are impressive, others not so much. This car, the Fisher Ocean, California design and Austria (?) manufacture is no exception. Due to be launched in Europe and the US as we speak and a future date, sometime this year, for its UK debut means a RHD version is on the cards. Will it make the journey east to Thai shores ?, could do but I would say unlikely unless a more local manufacturing base appears or it is so good demand calls for it , yeah, still going with unlikely ! Anyway, here’s a video of the good ( and the unnecessary ) For those impatient types, here’s the headlines with my opinions at no extra cost. Great price on the base model , £36k ( up to £60k if you want the bells and whistles ). Good to see solar panels on the roof albeit with a small energy return. California mode impressive but likely to get forgotten after the initial showing off, much like voice actuated sun roofs here. Doggie windows ?, yep I like this and no doubt Fido will too ! Large rotating screen !, not really new is it despite the reviewers enthusiasm . Passenger side tray, good idea but looks a little small. Taco tray ?? ( tacky tray more like ), only in America I say !, a tray that can sit on the steering wheel, tucked away neatly , for working or snacking etc would be a better idea imho. 3.7 seconds 0-60 !, might appeal to some, seems like a race to beat the 3 second barrier right now. 700 km range, this one is appealing, well to me anyway. Summary : looks good quality gear and the eco materials will get some interested, new name brand will be a no go for some but I think Americans will lap it up.
  6. As said previously, but just to sum up. Forget the OA ( not a good visa anymore with the addition of health insurance complicating things ). Visa exempt arrival is your easiest option ( requires bank account and funds, but seems like you have this covered ). Re: a return ticket: use onwardticket.com to obtain a ticket out of Thailand ( eg: BKK to Phnom Phen ) will cost around 14 US$ , book date for close to end of your visa exempt date ( i.e. 28/29 days after arrival. Departures from SA check in staff may request this, but maybe not , worth the peace of mind. Apply for your non imm O visa at Phang Nga immigration shortly after arrival ( 4 or 5 days )to allow time for any documentation to be gathered, a 30 day extension can be obtained if you need more time. A visa exempt/ non imm O procedure is simple, many have done it, including myself 8 months ago.
  7. It gets the pink treatment inside also which is a step too far for me, at least the purple one has a brown and black interior .
  8. You beat me too it ! I like Derek’s videos, he crams in as much info as poss in a short space of time, sometimes has a little oops ! , hatchback ?? , although he did correct it in text on the video.
  9. There’s a small downtown area with some bars, restaurants and qnightclubs, many karaoke bars ( some strictly for the large Japanese contingent from the Japanese electronics factories ) near the Grand Market. Soi Falang where all the guest houses are and a handful of restaurants and bars. But yes, it ain’t Pattaya or even Hua Hin in respect to nightlife.
  10. Or the pickup suddenly turned in front of the biker to enter the gas station. Without any actual account of how the accident occurred we are both just guessing.
  11. Here’s a video about the sunroof cover in the HR-V , the video is in Thai but it’s very short and gets it’s point across. What were they thinking !! Instantly turned me off this car .
  12. I don’t see the point of this suggestion in the OP other than someone has a poor internet connection, I suggest they get that seen to.
  13. Yes, that happened to me, I tried to get some explanation but none was given. Resorted to a new email address and used the wife’s phone number to open another account.
  14. Forest ( or is it Emerald ? ) Green or Racing Green. Which one will you choose.
  15. In your account you can write something to go at the bottom of all your posts, similar to setting your signature at the bottom of emails, hence the name. I guess the intention is to put your nickname or a sort feel good type of quote. Sounds like some have been using this option to further their agendas. Luckily it is also an option to see or not see others signatures .
  16. Talking about Walton Goggins : If anyone missed this I can recommend, stars Danny McBride and WG as, the title suggests, a couple of Vice Principals battling for the Principal’s job in a High School. Starts off as friendly rivalries but things soon get out of hand !!
  17. Electric pickup anyone ? https://carnewschina.com/2023/07/26/radar-rd6-electric-pickup-from-geely-is-heading-overseas-possibly-to-thailand/
  18. Here we go again, every time someone mentions getting an O visa here in Thailand you pop up with this statement. Please post a link where it states you can only apply for a visa outside the country you want to enter. I obtained an O visa here in Thailand using an immigration office and went through the procedure, highlighted in DrJack’s photo above, as have many others before me. No shortcuts or tea money or agents required, all above board and perfectly legal.
  19. I can understand why some names of cars had to be changed as they were embarrassing in other languages ( Pinto in Brazil, MR2 in France etc ) but i think BYD have produced so many cars in such a short time they have forgotten some of them ! They also have caused some confusion as to which cars belong in which series, Ocean and Dynasty spring to mind.
  20. To make things clearer BYD change the name of some of their cars for different markets ???? https://carnewschina.com/2023/07/24/byd-song-plus-to-sell-internationally-as-seal-u-to-hit-the-market-this-year/ Ah yes, clear as custard !
  21. Applied 9pm last night, approved 8 am today, took 11 hours, i’ll take that, sure beats the 13 days last time !!
  22. Yes , that’s why I recommended applying soon after entering. I believe 1, or more IO’s, request 21 days of exempt stay , not 100 % sure of that but it is always good to prepare well in advance where immigration offices are concerned .
  23. You can indeed enter visa exempt ( 30 days ) and apply for an O visa ( 90 days ) which can in turn be extended ( the permission to stay not the visa ) for 1 year based on retirement or marriage. The 30 days is sufficient to apply for the O visa , but best to apply a few days after entering the country, as said above a 30 days extension of your visa exempt stay is available if required.
  24. Following the BYD theme : Those waiting for the arrival of the Seal here in Thailand might be wondering what is happening ? Well , BYD are never one to stand still and let success come to them, seems like they are searching for more variations and won’t be satisfied until they have the ideal car for everyone ! The Seal being a prime example: BYD Seal ( EV ) BYD Seal DM -i ( PHEV ) BYD Seal U ( EV ) Not content with the Seal sedan EV they now have a similar shaped PHEV and a SUV ( EV) version. Personally i like the SUV version, a larger than the Atto 3 with a more “ saner “ interior would go down well if it came here i think.
