  1. How many times did Trump lie and mislead? Geez, it's like trying to count the number of stars on a clear night.
  2. Can we possibly step away from speculating on how this can be spun in order to gain electoral advantage and briefly focus on what is happening now? If it turns out the raid was legitimate and documents Trump had no business possessing are found, possibly nuclear secrets, don't you think Trump should be held accountable? If it turns out Trump was illegally keeping documents that should never have left government custody, and keeping them in an insecure manner that put national security at risk, do you think that might soften his popularity a little?
  3. I prefer enough facts for informed speculation.
  4. I agree that James Comey throwing the 2016 election to Donald Trump by reopening the email investigation days before the election was appalling, but I don't think he intentionally politicized the Justice Department. Other than that I don't understand what your post is supposed to mean.
  5. Apparently Trump's fans are already laying the groundwork for claiming that a major security breach is no big deal.
  6. For those who can get past the paywall: https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2022/08/11/garland-trump-mar-a-lago/ IF this is true, it is a really BFD. There is no legitimate reason and no excuse for highly classified nuclear information to be at Mar-a-Lago. I'm tempted to speculate on why Trump would want such documents, but I'll wait for more information.
  7. No, I don't believe "most of us of a certain age" can be described with any blanket statement. I believe that when home prices, interest rates, and rents go up some people get priced out of the market. I also believe that tales of real estate success are repeated far more often than less positive experiences, and that the less positive experiences are very common. Therefore I offer a counter opinion when I see these frequent "you can't lose with real estate" stories.
  8. And a lot of first time home buyers and returning expats are finding it difficult to buy or rent after recent price and interest rate increases.
  9. A lot of Trump supporters fit that description. Ever hear of Qanon?
  10. Here we have the old problem of explaining to people that anecdotal evidence does not prove or disprove broad generalizations. It all depends on when and where you buy. Parts of California and Colorado have seen significant appreciation. However this is not true everywhere. From a post by me on July 11: " Housing experienced an average inflation rate of 4.19% per year. This rate of change indicates significant inflation. In other words, housing costing $100,000 in the year 1967 would cost $953,910.69 in 2022 for an equivalent purchase. Compared to the overall inflation rate of 3.99% during this same period, inflation for housing was higher. " https://www.in2013dollars.com/Housing/price-inflation An investment return of 0.2% a year after inflation isn't that great.
  11. Here's something to lighten the mood: First post: "Wow. State sponsored raids on the homes of political rivals?" Second post: "Of course it was politically motivated." Much later post: "You simply cannot understand someone coming from a neutral impartial position." I won't attempt a punchline, I'm too overwhelmed by the choices.
  12. Wait a second. You can expect claims to be backed by evidence. Or: You can support Trump. You can't do both.
  13. "Obama was on record as approving using the IR in a partizan way I believe..." "I believe" you are wrong. I believe you can't find any credible source to support that claim.
  14. That suggests that Trump is really worried about what the FBI found.
  15. I'm sure this warrant and raid were conducted based on very good evidence. However I'm equally sure that whatever they do find (Top Secret documents, valuable gifts from foreign countries, Jimmy Hoffa's body...), Trump's base will insist it's no big deal and continue to believe the raid was political.
  16. That's why I boycott Steven Seagal movies. Actually I boycott Steven Seagal movies because I once watched one and don't want to repeat that mistake, but this is another good reason to boycott them.
  17. The words of a dedicated conspiracy theorist. Before Trump the White House tried to keep away from Justice Department affairs. The current White House is returning to that admirable policy. Of course you won't believe that, even though you have no evidence to the contrary.
  18. Trump said, and continues to say, that the 2020 election was stolen. That is the big lie. Did Biden, Clinton, or anyone else attempt to prevent the handover of power following the 2016 election?
  19. Agreed. I was replying to a post that asked why Trump would keep classified documents in Mar-a-Lago.
  20. I just skimmed the many pages of posts that have occurred in the last few hours. My sympathy to the moderator.
  21. Strengthening alliances with democracies, confronting Russia's aggression, an infrastructure bill that could never get passed under Trump, record low unemployment... All that in less than two years. Yeah, it's been terrible.
  22. "Who can trust a liar..." Nobody. And nobody lies like Trump.
  23. 4 pretty good years? Anti-science approach to Covid, weakening NATO alliance, weakening Asia Pacific alliances, buddying up to autocrats, trusting Putin over his own intelligence agencies, only legislative accomplishment was a deficit exploding tax cut... Oh yeah, and sitting on his butt watching television while a mob of his supporters were attacking Congress in an attempt to prevent certification of the Presidential election.
