Trump is dominating the primaries. That doesn’t mean he’ll beat Biden

Just those who illegally stormed the Capitol. No. I've been accused of being unpatriotic and worse for criticizing Trump. I have disliked campaign slogans and soundbites since "Morning in Amerca". I see them as tricks to avoid important issues and discussions. I forgot, Trump isn't rightwing enough for some people. Weird. I regard myself as a data driven centrist, but one who took an oath to defend the Constitution long ago and still take that oath seriously. That apparently makes me "left" in the eyes of many. Classical liberals wanted minimum government involvement in economic and personal affairs, classical conservatives wanted a Big Brother type government calling all the shots. Until recently conservatives generally wanted to regulate morality and individual choices while treating business free to pursue profit, while liberals wanted to regulate businesses for social reasons while leaving individuals wide latitude in behavior However current conservatives, if they can be called that, like Trump and DeSantis are keen on restricting business and individual behavior. The terms "left" and "right" don't seem to have any real meaning, people use them as an accusation and an excuse to avoid intelligent discussion. That's not surprising, many people dislike or are incapable of intelligent discussion. -

January 2020 was just before the pandemic. Restrictions during the pandemic resulted in a huge financial boost for tech types and hit those in the service sector hard. Now wages are increasing in the lower wage categories. Maybe the income inequality will come down in the future, but people with skills and education will continue to have the income advantage. I don't see how to fix that other than implementing actual socialism. I'm not keen on that idea. How about you? -

Good point. Chanting "Make China Great Again" would be seen as a criticism of China, the Communist Party and Xi. By extension Make America Great Again is a criticism of the US and Trump's failure to accomplish his goal during his four years in office. Lots of MAGA types equate loyalty to Trump with patriotism. They're the ones who think Trump groping a US flag with a dumb smirk on his face shows patriotism. Build Back Better is not being used as a campaign slogan. Trump supporters are constantly calling anyone who criticizes Trump left, far left or extreme left. I've asked one of them to explain what he considers "left" and he offered no explanation. I didn't think he could. -
"his former boss" said a lot of things that aren't true. "Former President Donald Trump invoked the section of immigration law that Johnson cited when he tried to block people from seeking asylum. But courts stopped his efforts because they were at odds with the immigration law’s asylum section." "Immigration experts told PolitiFact that although the power vested by section 212(f) is broad, it can’t be used to override other parts of immigration law." https://www.politifact.com/article/2024/feb/02/ask-politifact-can-joe-biden-shut-down-the-border/

China is undeniably a great power, and its citizens apparently consider it a great country. However I don't think China's citizens are chanting anything as silly as Make China Great Again. There is a smugness and misperception of patriotism with MAGA types. I'm just pointing out that their slogan is meaningless and adulation of Trump is not patriotic. You are the one who posted that Build Back Better was a slogan similar to MAGA. I pointed out that it is not. -

Equality under law and freedom of speech are important American values. However as China demonstrates they are not essential for a country to be powerful. I thought it was obvious that if America is already great the slogan Make America Great Again was both pointless and mindless. Explain why that is not so. Now your making stuff up. I don't know anyone who refers to themselves as a Build Back Better Democrat. -

So perception matters more than reality. Unfortunately there is some truth in that. On economic matters perception often lags reality. People were complaining about inflation during the '80's and 90's long after it ceased to be a problem. Fortunately there is time for perceptions to change. -
Yet the Border Patrol union supports it. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/new-immigration-bill-senate-bipartisan-border-patrol-endorsement-rcna137354 The bill is an improvement over the existing situation. Insisting the bill has to be perfect before it passes is merely an excuse to maintain the current situation. That's what Trump and his allies want.

Yet Bidenonics has resulted in a fantastic economy. -
How is invading, occupying and stealing a county's resources not empire building? Do you know anything about history? Does YouTube not educate you on such things? Most of the world fell for the WMD claims because Saddam Hussein wanted the world to believe he had WMD's. However I did not support the war, I thought it stupid and unnecessary.
