Are the same Trump supporters who crowed about the rising stock market when he was President now uninterested in the economy? -

The Constitution at fault or what?

"The Texas complaint listed a few dozen of the irregularities and it’s worth a read, as are the amicus briefs files by 126 congressmen and 17 states. " Why don't you quote one or two passages that give credible evidence of "irregularities" of a nature that could have influenced the outcome of the election? "So the idea that Trump, out of the blue and of his own accord, decided to “steal an election” is ludicrous at best." The idea that anyone of consequence would be promoting the stolen election lie if Trump were not promoting it is ludicrous at best. -
Thailand and Russia Strengthen Industrial Cooperation

Also on ASEAN: "Steel industry capacity utilisation in Thailand is on a downward spiral, with Tata Steel Thailand Plc (TSTH), a subsidiary of India’s largest steelmaker, attributing this trend to the sluggish economic recovery and the influx of inexpensive steel from China." https://aseannow.com/topic/1318589-thailand’s-steel-industry-suffers-as-cheap-imports-from-china-flood-market/ How will importing Russian steel improve this situation? -

Nobody claimed the machines were unhackable. The claim was that they were kept secure, making it difficult or impossible to hack without detailed knowledge of the machines and access to them. Detailed knowledge was only obtained, illegally by Trump supporters, after the election. Access was controlled before, during and after the elections until Georgia election officials gave conspiracy theorists this illegal access. https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/2022/10/28/coffee-county-election-voting-machines/ The goal posts were moved by you. Prove me wrong, show sources stating that Biden supporters claimed the machines were unhackable. While you're at it, explain how the new voting machines, which provide a paper record of the votes cast, can be hacked without detection. Once again, the election deniers have nothing.

We certainly can't afford more of what Trump calls winning. If he becomes President we can expect more tax cuts justified with the discredited Laffer curve nonsense, followed by a rapid increase in the deficit. Historically Democratic administrations increase deficits when the economy is in trouble and reduce it when the economy is doing well. Republicans increase deficits regardless of the circumstances. https://www.thebalancemoney.com/us-deficit-by-year-3306306

Court rules Move Forward attempted to topple constitutional monarchy
heybruce replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
"In filing the petition with the court last year, he claimed Move Forward’s policy to amend the lese majeste law violates Article 49 of the Constitution, which states that: “No person shall exercise rights or liberties to overthrow the democratic regime of government with the King as head of state.”" The constitution was written to accommodate the military following their 2014 coup overthrowing the democratic government in place at the time. It replaced the constitution written to accommodate the military following its 2006 coup. The irony of including that statement in the constitution is rich. -
To be clear, I have no idea what healthcare is like in Saudi Arabia, and never indicated otherwise. However if Saudis live longer on average than Americans then quality of healthcare probably has something to do with it. To be clear, you have failed to come up with any measure of quality of healthcare other than life expectancy. To be clear, Trump's mismanagement of messaging on Covid led to chaos and widespread denial of science and vaccines in particular. He laid the groundwork for the denial by telling people they only had to believe news sources that he approved of. Funny how Trump isn't mentioning the development of Covid vaccines on his watch while he campaigns. Care to offer a possible explanation? Once again you are making stuff up and claiming it is what I believe. Of course you can't give any evidence for your fantasies. I never supported open borders, though I do think legitimate asylum claims should be handled in accordance with international law. I also believe legal immigration should be expanded and simplified for the good of the US economy. I don't support open borders, but I don't think it's a crisis. Certainly not as serious a crisis and election denial and sedition. How about you?

No attacks directly by Iran, several by Iran's proxies, and the US is bombing them. Obama responded to the Crimea invasion with economic sanctions. What would you have preferred he do? What do you think Trump would have done? The Republicans are definitely not showing unified resolve against Russia now. I don't know, how many Russians were killed in Syria under Trump? Give sources for you claims. Do you think Trump or any other Republican in the White House would be tougher on Russia/Putin than Biden? -

Do you remember Pres Bush Jr looking into Putin's soul? Every administration since the fall of the Soviet Union has tried some kind of reset until Biden. The most appalling one was Trump campaigning on what a great thing it would be for the US to be friends with Russia. I assume it was in pursuit of that that Trump shared highly classified Russian intel with the Russian ambassador and chose to take Putin's word over his own intelligence service. Trump is putty in Putin's hands, and much of his base wants to let Russia roll over Ukraine and move on to the next target. -

I agree with your first paragraph. However neither party is pushing to improve and increase legal immigration, and the Trump party has done such a good job of demonizing immigrants (his base rarely distinguishes between legal and illegal immigrants) that any increase is legal immigration is impossible under current circumstances. The "unvetted people" you refer to are less likely to commit crimes than the legal residents of the US. 'Another study, “Does Undocumented Immigration Increase Violent Crime?,” which was published in the journal Criminology in March, looked at the influx of undocumented immigrants into communities in recent decades and concluded, “Increased concentrations of undocumented immigrants are associated with statistically significant decreases in violent crime.”' https://www.factcheck.org/2018/06/is-illegal-immigration-linked-to-more-or-less-crime/ The Republicans -
Are these other causes of death unique to the US? Do you have a better measure of healthcare effectiveness than life expectancy? I didn't think so. Life expectancy dropped in all countries that mishandled the pandemic, and Trump's incoherent response resulted in far more deaths in the US than should have happened. Illegal immigrants coming to the US to work are the ones most likely to work, therefore most likely to be healthy, of working age and eager to avoid any government contact. However most of their employers deduct taxes from their pay (in order to maintain the fiction that the employee didn't know the employee was in the country illegally). As a result the illegal immigrants are putting money into the system and taking little out. Now why don't you show us your proof that these illegal immigrants are a drain on US healthcare. I've enlightened you with facts before, I'll repeat with a cut and paste. Do you deny the below has sourced facts, or do you simply not understand them? "Here are a couple of pertinent facts: The US spends a significantly higher portion of it's GDP on healthcare than other rich countries https://www.statista.com/statistics/268826/health-expenditure-as-gdp-percentage-in-oecd-countries/ and gets worse results https://ourworldindata.org/us-life-expectancy-low." "I doubt that the human issues concern you, so consider this; paying to much for subpar healthcare puts the US at a competitive disadvantage in the world economy. Existing businesses are held back by the high cost of health coverage, and legacy businesses have been bankrupted https://www.industryweek.com/the-economy/public-policy/article/21142527/healthcare-costs-are-killing-us-manufacturing. Individuals are also bankrupted. Auto insurance rates are raised by the medical costs associated with liability coverage, and are still insufficient https://www.economist.com/united-states/2024/01/18/why-car-insurance-in-america-is-actually-too-cheap."

I noticed the bottom of the list states "Stand up to China & Putin". Biden has been doing a very good job of that. Republicans haven't. -
Seriously? Do you think people take antibiotics and BP medicine, have surgeries, receive cancer treatment, get annual physicals, etc. just for the fun of it? People do these things to prolong longevity and quality of life. Medicines and medical procedures and studied and evaluated based upon their demonstrated effectiveness in extending life. How can you not know this? Sorry, but when you assume you know things about immigrants without citing any credible sources you are being a moron. I provided sourced facts about healthcare costs as a percent of GDP, longevity, and an article describing the cost and inadequacy of liability coverage. If you don't read the sources the problem isn't absence of facts, it is your willful ignorance.

I provide sourced facts and you respond with BS. What better measure of quality of healthcare than life expectancy? What evidence do you have that the healthy, working age people migrating to the US are negatively impacting healthcare in the US? Why don't you address my facts regarding the negative impact of overpriced healthcare on the US economy?

LBJ said lots of profanities and bragged about his penis. What's your point? Here are a couple of pertinent facts: The US spends a significantly higher portion of it's GDP on healthcare than other rich countries https://www.statista.com/statistics/268826/health-expenditure-as-gdp-percentage-in-oecd-countries/ and gets worse results https://ourworldindata.org/us-life-expectancy-low. Auto insurance rates are raised by the medical costs associated with liability coverage, and are still insufficient https://www.economist.com/united-states/2024/01/18/why-car-insurance-in-america-is-actually-too-cheap. I could list other problems, but the conclusion is clear: By not providing more affordable, higher quality healthcare comparable to what other wealthy nations provide we are hurting business and the US economy. How can any pro-business conservative not support universal healthcare?

I will be in Chiang Mai in February and the first half of March. I am considering renting a studio apartment in Nakornping. I know the Nakornping studios are a little smaller than the one I used to live in at Hillside 4, but other than that they were acceptable, and I like the location. Is there anything about life in Nakornping that I should know before I put down a deposit? Thanks for any help.
