  1. I think it unlikley that every Central Bank across the world is directly involved...that is BIS role, surely. I suspect that they will net off all ins and outs to arrive at net balances before anything moves anywhere. As the primary World currency it would make sense for the end result to be settled in dollars with those in deficit paying USD and those in surplus receiving USD. Day to day fluctuations in and out would be minor in the grand scheme, the overall balance and trend being way more important. PH
  2. Update...down to ChonBuri Immigration this morning. Some pointers: 1. ChonBuri require you to wear a mask. Available for those who forget for THB20 at photcopy shop outside. 2. For extensions, do not join the (long) snake outside the door. Go to exit door and tell guard you are there for extension...straight inside for queue ticket. 3. I was 018. 017 was being served when I got to the desk so I just had time to sign all my photocopies before I was called. 34 I hadn't realised the first entry in my bank book was dated 3 March last year...oops. They want to make sure you had the 800K for the two months after renewal. (As an aside, I went down last year as 90 day online was not working so while there I actually did the two month 800K check...just confirms that this is not actually recorded anywhere). Luckily, I was able to downlaod a statement for the missing days to my phone, outside to copy shop, Line message, print, back inside...phew. Note - they wanted to see funds from the date I did my renewal last year (15 Feb) not date my current extension started (22 Feb). 5. I had copies of Chanote (front and back), Blue Book, and Purchase Form. This was accepted and confirmed as being correct, eough and not too much. Back pack full of originals and other paperwork not needed. Staff as helpful and polite as ever. Arrived at 0930, out at 1015 despite my self inflicted errors. Back Monday to pick up passport with new stamp and get first Re-entry stamp in four years. PH
  3. Eating fat does not make you fat. Eating too much, especially sugars, makes you fat. Eating too much fat is not good for you - your arteries in particular, but itahat's a whole different problem. PH
  4. Condo in my name, but I have a Blue Book.... Online TM30 done, so no paperwork for that and am still in the dark as to what I need to take, officially, though can se me going armed with Chanote, Blue Book, and copies of both. PH
  5. Unless I am misreading, that is all about completing TM30, not TM7 and supporting documents for extending my stay (Retirement). My Condo Office completes TM30 for everyone - my query is what do I take this year where I have always taken a Lease Agreement previously. PH
  6. Need to extend next month and this will be first extension since I bought my Condo. In the past have always had copy of Rental Contract, but now I obviously do not have this...internet search (including the usually excellent PCEC site) not helpful in telling me what - if anything - I now need. Chanote? Blue Book? PH
  7. Yes, but many (most?) other countries are suffering, so everyone is equally weak and relatively, currencies will remain at broadly the same levels. PH
  8. Ah...so the OP was being just a teensy weensy bit economical by saying all you need is THB50K.... USD80,000 anual income, or USD40,000 and USD250K investment plus USD50K health insurance. Not quite the same thing as the bald statement that "50,000 baht covers 10-yr visa " !! PH
  9. Really? Inetrested in this...can you provide a link. Only Visa I see is Elite which is THB 1million for ten year. https://www.thailandelite.net/thailand-elite-membership-comparison-table/ Where is this THB 50K Visa? PH
  10. Only if you get a new one. With the banking app on my phone for both BKK and KBank I no longer have a card, so do not get charged. PH
  11. I agreew itht he main thrust of this. Whether it reaches 30 in ten years or twenty is open to debate, but since the UK "mature" economy is in decline, while the Thai "third(?) world" economy is growing, there is only one way for the trend to go. PH
  12. When discussing things with yourself, it is not uncommon to agree, and also usual to know what you mean even qhen not clear to others. BUT when discussing with others, it can often be important to use the correct terminology so there is no ambiguity and no unnecessary potential for confusion. It is pretty easy to refer visa and extension here in the correct way when asking or answering questions. Deliberately using the wrong term is just bullheaded and not helpful to anyone. PH.
  13. Just like some farag insist Thai authorities always require to see a "passport" when what they actually want is some form of ID - of which a Passport is one. I have never had a problem after beign asked for "Passport" and showing my Thai Drivers Licence (Immigration excepted, of course). Just because the translation is poor does not mean we should use incorrect terminology. PH.
  14. Searching around the 'net found this thread from 2013 (which had not come up in Forum Search) which may be of interest but highlights the confusion:
  15. A thorny subject for sure, but does anyone have definitive advice on what is allowed and required? As I understand things, to increase the Common Fee requires an AGM vote of at least 50% of the ownership. If this is not achieved ( acommonn occurance where nowhere near 50% attend or send proxies - apathy rules!), a follow up EGM can pass an increase with a reduced hurdle - but I have seen and heard various numbers mentioned. Then there is the option of Special Assessmnet which, if I am correct, is primarily brought in the restore the Sinking Fund - but is it limited to that? Can this be brought up at AGM? If so, what is the vote needed (I have heard majority, with minmum 25% of ownership in favour). I have read discussion that any EGM for either or both of the above must be held within two weeks of any AGM where a quorum is not achieved - which seems daft, especially for the SA which might need urgent and unforeseen action in the case of emergeny works being carried out. Am seeking professional advice but, of course, everywhere is closed for NY and there must be members here who sit (or have sat) on Committees and dealt with these issues. Appreciate any experience and directions to any useful publications that might help unmuddy the waters. PH
  16. Absolute utter tripe. Plenty of insurance companies offer policies. PH
  17. There are, sadly, many entitled farangs who think similarly. PH
  18. It is a Multi ENTRY visa....so as long as you (try to) enter while the Visa is valid, you will be fine. How long you can stay after entry is nothing to do with the ENTRY visa. PH
  19. Juast tbhose susceptible? What about their families? Their carers? How do they earn any money to survive? PH
  20. Or even "solutions" to things that would not even be issues were it not for the same online hogwash PH
  21. Would that be the same Goons who only gave the vaccines they were initially able to source to the local population, but as soon as the Western vaccines were available, foreigners were pretty much put at the front of the queue? (And why was it a huge proportion of the World was so low on vaccine availability? Oh yes - so that the developed west could pick and choose and have multiple vaccines available for their own populations.) PH
  22. They stopped you before - so you stayed and are NOW on overstay and expect them to let you through? Bit of non-joined up thinking on your part there! Leaving from another point before your time was up would have been a sensible move, but too late for that. To expect them to act differently now you are on overstay than when you were not (for whatever reason they previously refused) is a bit daft frankly. PH
  23. Why? Is a motorbike not a vehicle? PH
  24. Effectively, yes. You said So it is bye bye 1st class insurance. The implication from that statement is that it is impossible to get Class 1 for older vehicles PH
